  • In this video I go over how to remove and install a front crankshaft pulley and harmonic balancer. This video will show several different vehicles. I discuss the problem with the front crank seal that keep leaking because of improper end play at the crankshaft on a PT Cruiser.

    Hey JT, what's happening. Slightly off topic. '06 Cruiser 143k, vibration at idle, in Park same a neutral. Have just done plugs, wires, coil pack, valve cover and all manifold gaskets, cleaned throttle body, idle air control, PCV, fuel pump, O2 sensor, upper and lower torque struts all as regular maintenance. Vibration got slightly worse. Scan too showsl idle called for same as actual idle speed +-10 rpm.
    So, my tech I'd down to either motor mounts (center (replaced at 100k not OEM), or tranny mount) or balance shaft. Have you seen any balance shaft issues on PT's? My thought is do the center mount first.
    I did hit a curb on drivers side hard enough to crack a wheel if that might have damaged the tranny motor mount.
    What do you think? Thanks a ton man.

    Hello, I have a 2015 jeep wrangler and notice a slight wobble in the harmonic balancer when running. I am curious what exactly justifies that replacement is needed? I'm assuming it shouldn't have any wobble when running, but I haven't felt any play in it when trying to move it. Any help is appreciated! I am subscribed! Keep up the awesome videos!

    • @OnlineMechanicTips
      @OnlineMechanicTips  Год назад +1

      Hello my friend, you left off the mileage so im assuming this a high mileage Jeep. Yes, we replace those often for that reason. It could give you problems down the road so if I see it, I always recommend replacing it.

    • @grenadelogan
      @grenadelogan Год назад +1

      @Online Mechanic Tips thank you very much for the swift reply. I apologize, it has about 135k miles on it and am getting into the territory of having to change out more and more lately. I have recently been having an issue that I cannot figure out and maybe you can help if you have the time. I can drive down the road and get a random traction control light come on. Sometimes it will stay until I turn off the engine, sometimes it will go away while driving. I also have a crankshaft code (erratic performance or something. I'd have to scan it again to see) and I am now hearing an odd rattle like noise from the engine compartment somewhere that almost sounds like an idler pulley bearing going bad, but I have tested to see, and that is not the case. It is not a rocker tick either. I am beginning to think it is something internal. Brakes and wheel speed sensors are all recently replaced and good. Tire pressure is all even, and hubs and suspension is all tight. Any help or input is helpful. Thank you!

    Hello Sir I got a question?You seem really cool an down to earth
    Now I drive a 2011 Toyota Yaris an I was told my harmonic balancer was wobbling like moving from side to side,also it seems as tho the engine was like shaking an there was this loud squeaking noise once the car gets turned on,
    Can u please give me a idea of what that may be?I am scared to drive it with that noise....DOES A BAD HARMONIC BALANCER MAKES A LOUD NOISE,ALMOST SOUNDS LIKE THE BELT IS SLIPPING OR BAD,BUT THE NOISE IT MAKES IS LOUD....

    • @OnlineMechanicTips
      @OnlineMechanicTips  2 года назад +1

      Yes, a wobbling HB will cause all the symptoms you mentioned and should be replaced asap. Depending on if its pressed fit or key fit will dictate how much it will cost to get replaced. Most this is not a good look to be driving like this because it will come apart all together and could ruin other parts..Sorry you having this issue my friend
