Ahhh, I tried to put a couple on this list, but I shall try to put together a more comprehensive one of nothing but contralto songs!😀Thanks for the feedback.
One time I googled "audition songs for altos" and the top result was the Night Queen's aria. That famous soprano piece. That notoriously high soprano piece.
Ella Fitzgerald isn't a low voice female singer she has a pretty high bright voice when she goes up in range, she's definitely a soprano but was good at utilizing her voice she could change it in so many ways.
Some singers are gifted with amazing ranges and can do many things with their voices. She was iconic and in a class by herself ♥️ Thanks for the comments and for watching!
Well top of contralto is around D5 but tenor is around C3-A4. Sometimes in harmony I can sing with tenors because my belt is so high. I’m more in mezzo range.seems like that’s where you are. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.
Edges of my complete range on a good day are C3 to D6. My best stuff would be things like Out There from Hunchback of Notre Dame, sung in the original key/octave. Above the G5, it's a lot of squeaking, and really above the C5 I'm pretty much lose all power. Meantime, lower range is easily accessible to the E3, With D3 as my last strong note at a stretch. The note my voice tends to crack/break on when running scales is about F#4. Really not sure what that makes me beyond "almost certainly between a lighter contralto or darker mezzo."
You seem to really know your voice! That’s great! You have a good range, to smooth out the transitions just keep practicing and trying different songs in both mezzo and contralto ranges. 👍
My range is F3-A5 on a good day, putting me square in the Mezzo category. However, I can't belt high to save my life. I feel like in musical theater I fit better into contr(alto) roles.
Hmmm, I have been getting so many questions like this I feel like I should do another video describing different belt tones with mezzo, contralto, and soprano. There is a different belt tone in higher ranges. Sopranos can utilize their head voice or even a stronger falsetto. Mezzos can sometimes belt in their head or upper chest. Maybe you just have not found a comfortable spot to place your belt tone. I think a video demonstration would help. I will work on it and do one!😀👍Thanks for watching, I hope this helped.
I always hesitate about my vocal type, I'm not a trained singer, I sing when I'm home alone for fun but my lowest notes would be around D3 (not warmed up) and highest around F5? I tense up a lot singing higher since my timbre is dark and my voice is heavy in deep vibration. I can sing lower than Annie Lennox, Nina Simone and feel really comfortable in low baritone male singer's songs
D3 is low if that’s not even warmed up. If you sing lower than Annie Lennox and you describe a dark timbre and heavy vibration to your voice I would say you are definitely alto/contralto. You may be tensing up to sing higher for several reasons. One, just not comfortable for you. Two, you mentally think you can’t - yet, but that can certainly be worked on and you can always increase your range😀. Three, you need to have better breath support, really use that diaphragm to reach those higher notes. Four, relax and open your jaw and have a nice wide opening when singing big high notes, relax the tongue. Five, try to utilize your head voice and don’t push in your chest voice. This takes practice to work on smooth transition between head and chest voice. I have a video on head/chest voice you may want to look at on my singing playlist. I also have a video on breath support. Hope this was helpful! Thanks for watching 😀
@@roxiesbroadwaybreakdown5599 omg thank you so much for taking your time!! I'm very glad to have an answer 🥹 I will definitely watch your videos, I use my chest all the time so I find it strange to feel comfortable with my head voice since D3-B3 are the notes I tend to sing the most, sometimes I can go to D5 relaxed but I never really measured my lowest note warmed up, maybe it is between B2 or C3. I can comfortably sing Alison Moyet's songs. Thank you!!! I'll be following your steps to improve my technique
You’re welcome! Im definitely an alto and feel much more comfortable in lower ranges. But there are some songs easy to belt in chest and upper chest. Everyone has a break in their voice going from chest to head, but to increase range singers need to smooth that out and utilize head voice. It’s always a work in progress, singers are constantly working on their range. So try to work with a coach, approach in a healthy way, and you can expand your range!👍🏻
So a very sad lyric contralto here, who loves musicals but can't find a song that sounds really good for a voice, that isn't even somehow interesting, but only low, warm and soft. My lowest note is a C3, but it is hard to get and I havn't any power down there. My highest note is a E5. So I have two and a half octave, which isn't bad at all, but you can always hear this heavy timbre and when a mezzosprano can do a powerful belt, I'm already in my higher registers and havn't got that much power there. And in the male songs my voice sound to small and light and it also hasn't that full power. It is very frustrating.
@@mijalheinrich4331 Hmmmm, sometimes low tones can be quite more interesting than showing off big belt notes. What kind of songs do you sing? What singers would you say you identify with?😀
@@roxiesbroadwaybreakdown5599 I like to sing musical songs or Disneysongs, but there are nearly no similar voices to mine. Heather Headley in Aida is fantastic, but I won't really identify with her, because she can sing everything, and I can not. In Hazbin Hotel there is this role of Camille, which is also nice to sing, but I don't know who sings it. The song "Surface pressure" in "Encanto" is also good for me and "Poor unfortunate souls" is also fine, but the original is lower and darker than I can do it (my voice is to soft and warm for that ;)). In fact I know nobody with a similar voice, i could identify with. Other low altos/contraltos have special voices, that sound kind of husky and interesting in a unique way. Mine is just low, dark and soft. Nothing very special, despite from the fact, that it fits no where.

Well that range is interesting for a female. A typical “alto” is around F3 to D5. Tenors are B2 to G4. So you kind of are in between some ranges. If you tend to have a belt tone that is high and bright I would say a contralto that leads tenor… if your voice is really low and comfortable in deep ranges, then stick with lower toned songs.👍 there are beautiful smoky toned belt songs and ballads!

Well, it depends on how strong you are on those bottom and top notes. A2 is very low. If you are consistently comfortable there it would definitely put you In contralto range. Same as D5 . Be proud of that range! If you are female- you are basically a female tenor which allows you to do a lot with that voice! You can be flexible- you can probably belt in a high chest voice, and have a pretty good low range . So leaning more contralto. 👍 Hope this helps; thanks for watching.😀

Mezzo is A3 to F#5…It also matters where you are most comfortable singing and where you sound best singing without straining. And singers can always stretch their range with exercises. Well there is middle c at c4. Usually sopranos are c4-a5. Tenors are c3-a5ish…so this might depend on your tone. For instance, I’m not a soprano, but most of my songs are comfortable in b flat. But I can belt middle c…so I would maybe do scales and see where you are most comfortable and see where you flip into head voice.😀Thanks for watching!
