And make sure to remove the display cables first. I am always making this mistake and get confused to why the GPU doesn't come out.
We've all done that before 😂
Same 😅
keep forgotting this everytime even if i remind myself
What is the display cable?
@Jeagletboard the cable which plugs in the back which connects to your monitor.
Unlike some PC building channels I usually see, this guy explains stuff in detail
I appreciate the comment!
I appreciate all of your shorts one of the few tubers who really cover every topic for people just getting into pc gaming or workin on computers in general
Basic. However this is for someone who does not know yet and this is very helpful. Plain and simple instructions. Sometimes other people forget to unplug and that's where you get shocked sometimes tinkering with the chassis.
Don't forget about deleting drivers before uninstalling old gpu, and installing new driver meant for your new gou when you install
not true. Graphic drivers sit in the ssd/hdd. And it wouldn't matter, and why would you even want that? Then whoever is going to use it will have to re-update it...
@@seja098 use your brain, if you install an invidia GPU you do not want Radeon software on your system go read a book little boy
@NoodleAsian being an experienced pc builder, I can say with certainty:
The old graphics drivers don't do anything, when you install the new drivers for the new gpu, the old drivers for the old gpu are deleted automatically.
@@AweirdThingwti uninstall them. some pcs actually do kinda effect it. not by much, but it does help. i always keep my pc clean if i install a new gpu
The latch is stuck because its majority block by the gou that’s why I hate the triple wide ones
So simple and easy explanations
this was so helpful thank you ❤
Do not remove the power supply cable. If you do and something goes wrong the PC is not gonna be grounded so you can get shocked.
Forgot one step !drain the power by pressing the power button so that ull be safe incase u short some components..
People make this way to hard. If you are switching to the same brand. No need to uninstall anything. Also no need to use ddu lol. You just plug it in turn it on update drivers and enjoy.
I can’t press the latch down but I don’t wanna force
Are you Alan Morrison's from Viva la Dirt League brother?
you need to install drivers for the new one
Dont forget to use ddu software before, then when new gpu in then install new driver
And then... you get an error
Surely removing the power cable removes one source of grounding that you have when touching the case etc?
Thanks for this.
Step 1. See that the gpu you upgrade the power supply can handel it or not 🚫😂😂
What if you don’t have the orange clip thing
After I unplug my pc or power it just doesn’t wanna boot up normally
Thank you!
So the PCIE goes on the motherboard or on the power supply?
Those are thumb screws, you don’t need a screwdriver for those.
so clearly the 2 does not need to go in before the 6 ???
Make sure to use ddu and uninstall ALL graphics drivers to minimize crashes
POV: you have a *Laptop GPU*
yeah, why mentioned drivers
Hi if i put a card graphics in a pci e 16× but the cart graphics is a pci e 4× for example does the card graphics will work the same .
Yup . The way you’re turning off the pc
So i know that you’re a pro
Thanks dude:)
Does it matter if I have amd cables if I were to switch to nvidia or can I use the same cables??
is the GPU plug and play? I mean, no need to install software after installing a new GPU?
Do gpu's come with their power cables?
I love watching what I can’t afford😊
Ans pc is dead duo to static because you didnt unload it...
my dumbass cant even find the graphics card😭
I cant press the ledge on my gpu its too small to find it and the cpu cooler is in the way
What case is that
Thats not it I thought you also had to change your gpu cable because if you used your old gpus cable it will fry the system or atleast your gpu
My graphics card doesn’t have pover cable😂
I just uninstalled my Intel drivers from my old laptop how do i recover my laptop
ty
My motherboard doesnt have a latch
I have bunch of gpus laying around and my 1050 ti cooked in the middle of a match of r6 and i just quickly shut down my pc replace the gpu and get back in the match making it for the next round
Last, update your graphics card drivers.
What should I do to the drivers of my old gpu, how do I uninstalll them?
Bro forgot to uninstall the old drivers 😭
no power discharge?? dafuq
How to not install a GPU:
1. Try to install the GPU
2. Realize it's too big for the case
3. Send the card back
4.quit ur job
5. Play overwatch 2 for +20h a day
Ok, when did Linus get an accent?😂
what about drivers
Just to be sure, after unplugging the PC, press the power button again, that will discharge the capacitors. Otherwise there is always some rest electricity.
Press or press and hold?
On every pc?
30 sec hold for me
@@ScaverOfficial if you press a few times it should be good, if you wanted to be really safe
@@AxPTrue forgot about this thread. I have upgraded my pc twice though and doing this is a habit now. 😀
Good tip. Also remember after you unplug everything hold down the power button for 10 seconds, this will "empty" the power supply orlf any stored electricity. If you hear a click sound while doing it, thats perfectly normal !
Always push the power button a few times after unplugging, to drain any capacitors, avoiding a short circuit when you start touching it.
if you have power status LEDs on any of your boards if they go out then it also means the system is "dead".
Im doing this always my hole life when working on pcs 👍
Was about to say the same thing, thank you for mentioning it
Sounded like youre trolling but this is real yea?
@@Ondanatch No im serious, no toll. Google it
“2 needs to go in before 6” plugs then both in at the same time
Pretty sure he meant in place on the board.
Wdym?@@NickBEADG
I think he meant directionally like from left to right 2 goes in before 6.
presing that pcie slot latch is the major task here
My pcie slot button is stucked....i am panicking... please help....
@@rawsamhassanradif5643 did you get help? becouse my pcie wont move too and i cant remove it, and i did it in the past, but the gpu wont come out today, pls help
@@josecouto6051 i got help from others'
I can't push it, help
Straight to the point, explaining every part, good camera angles, amazing video. 10/10.
Do i need to do anything with my system beforehand or do i just buy the new gpu and replace the old one?
Keep the psu power cable pluged in but turn the psu off. That way you have a ground In case you are staticky you dont fry your motherboard
that rarely even happens. and its hard. i dont trust 240/110 volts near the pc. i dont trust any power near it tbh
@@evanalhussein4548 Ya rarely. But ive seen it happen. And idc if i get zapped so thats me. But you do you bud
@@evandoyle891Linus and Louis Rossman experimented with trying to kill computer hardware with static. Computer hardware is surprisingly pretty durable.
@@evanalhussein4548you do realize that the socket voltage is also always present when the PC is running???
Just by having it plugged in nothing will happen, on the contrary, it's safer. If you do get shocked by a plugged in and turned off PSU you should check your socket/PSU anyways.
@@drogenfeld ik ik. Just. I dont do it tbh. Since it basicly almost cant happen
Can you change parts of gaming laptops including graphic cards?
You can Sometimes Change RAM or your ssd but No, Not the graphicscard
And remember to uninstall the graphics drivers before removing the old gpu then install drivers for the new card when ur done
yep use DDU
This is my problem
you can actually leave the PSU plugged in, keeps your entire case grounded
Good tip bro👍
Good tip but remember to still have it switched off
remember to hold the power button too! Unlikely but you can damage something with residual power like your gpu or motherboard, especially if it's older hardware.
@@thegrogster5 not even older hardware, i've used a lower end x470 board that without fail, each time I turned it off and flipped the psu switch then pressed the power button, it would light up for a second before going off.
other boards i've used didn't have this problem, but obviously, it varies, and is advised to "drain the capacitors" when you turn off your pc before you work on it.
I have usuaally jus held my hand against the case or something to ground myself to the components
after unplugging pc, hold down power button to discharge excess power!!!
I have recently built my gaming pc with ryzen 7 7700X and 32 gigs of ddr5 ram paired with rtx 4060ti... so I have left quite some room for gpu upgrade in the future, so thanks for this guide 🤟
It's a good idea to press the power button a few more times until the LEDs don't come on so that you can make sure all the power is drained so you don't damage any components
Make sure to uninstall old drivers with DDU first! That way you have a clean install with the new GPU.
Noted. I'm going for my very first build so i'm scouring all the info I can find . Thanks 🙂
@@HarryOsirianon a first time build with fresh Windows install this step is completely obsolete. This is only necessary when switching to a different GPU especially when changing manufacturers.
@@drogenfeld thanks 😊
@@drogenfeldDo u need to upgrade my graphics driver if im switching from 4070 gainward ghost to 4070 ti Asus strix oc edition ?
if you switch your GPU you always should reinstall your GPU drivers.@@guyseemta8097
hello! what case is that? i really like the look. also this was a nice tutorial! im currently cleaning my pc out and i needed to remove the gpu.
Looks like it’s a cooler master td 500
@@justwatch2814 thanks!
Just take the GPU off while a computer is running and fry your PCIe M.2 slots like my dumbass did a few hours ago after being enraged by the fact that my motherboard wasn't detecting my M.2s for an entire 6 hours figuring out why that was happening until frying them hours later from pure patience and sanity loss.
HELP
My pc isn’t posting. It work is if I take out the graphics card and use integrated graphics. Please help
check connections first thing to do.
Pull the power cable out by the actual cable: cringe af. Who taught you how to take care of your things??
Also you didn't teach anything other than how to switch a card. You didn't explain power needs, cables, or anything.
Ty 4 wasting my time
What happen if i forgot to delete nvidia drivers before i put in an AMD graphic card?
I have magnetic screwdriver
But i don't have graphics card to screw on😭
Thanks i need to add new 1TB SSD NVme, and the gpu blocks it. So thats why i need to remove the GPU
No display for weeks on the monitor. That was until I took out my gpu and cleaned it. Lmfao.
What about drivers ? Because when you are changing gpu some of them habe different Resolution and the motherboard doesnt recognize gpu
If I currently have a Duel fan 4060 how do I know if I can fit a 3 fan 4070ti super,, my case has room I think, it's amethyst ll case, i5 13400f, asrock b760m-c,,? Any help appreciated
I know it's not really the point of the video, but I would really like to see you do this in under 60 seconds for real. Like the pc needs to be in a setup with EVERYTHING pluged in and be on. Time starts when you tell the pc to shutdown ( no holding the power botton ). You can't.
The screw that holds the gpu to the motherboard is like inaccessible, I have a miniature screwdriver and even then I couldn’t get to it… I’m really stuck man ahaha
I have a 3060 and I put it in but the fans won’t spin at high temp. Recently I was playing a game which usually I’d get on average 50 fps but it gradually got lower to 10 fps as the gpu temp was at a steady 90 degrees Celsius. What do I do to fix this?
i accidentally ended up breaking my PC due to snapping something really important to do with the graphics card.. 3 years of my life are on this computer 😭😭 i’ve taken out the memory sticks from the clip board and i’m just going to buy a new computer when i get the chance
this video wasn’t all that helpful cause it snapped the gold sticks for my graphics card
I accidentally broke the Mainboard latch, Im not sure if it works the way it should anymore, its still on but really loose nd stuff :(
Same, i broke mine too 😂
Mine broke completely off lol. It shouldn't be a problem tbh.
Show how to delete old gpu drivers in next video
Agree
One thing he forgot to mention about when you are getting a new graphic card ...that is unistalling the previous graphics card drive before installing new one
You realy dont have to
I pulled my 3080 out without unlatching the pin and the pin came out with it... Am I screwed?
I don't remove the power cable as to keep pc grounded. there is a 0.0001% chance of static hurting a pc and a 0% if its grounded. also 20seconds faster lol.
The most annoying remove vga card, sometimes always stuck in case even already press down the vgacard mobo latch if that happen must unscrew mobo again 😭
My computer died because of a graphics card issue
my gou has like its own casing in the box how to i remove that and keep it removed while putting in the new graphics card?
I recommend also hold down the power button as it helps drain the pc further not doing this probs won't break anything but it's a ritual at this point to me😅
shouldnt you keep the power cable plugged in to discharge the static
Thanks for the info, i was removing my old gpu from my first pc i built and forgot how i mounted it in place
I just got a gtx 780 but it needs both 6pin and 8pin cables, where do i find such PSU?
i dont see a lot of pc building channels give this much details about how to do something thank you!
i took my pc to get it repaired when i got back it still wasn’t working so i started taking it apart to fix it myself come to find out he broke my latch while taking out my gpu so now its stuck in my motherboard
You need to uninstall the graphics drivers before you make the switch h and reinstall the new ones for the new gpu…
Do you still have to do it even if you have a apu?
It bricked a system that I was testing with a 3070 when I removed the GPU. The igpu just wouldn’t give video out after windows boot. And that’s with all the bios settings turned on for igpu…
Hello i put first the 2 pins and then next 6 in the graphic card hope that will not make any problem bcs pc working
What about the drivers. Turning on your computer to alpt of errors by not removing the old driver then installing the new driver
and how about new drivers? if u put the old gpu off and put there another one, deos it requires to install a new drivers as well?
I cant pull out the power connector from the gpu (6 years in a dust )its just not even moving idk what to do
