Video Title: KV-122 Review - Should You Buy It? IS-2 Power A Full BR Early [War Thunder]

As someone who owns this tank, it's a very nice tank
Ah yes. My favorite tank to play. It's so nice. Stupid powerful gun. Basically a glass cannon. It can hold its own in 6.7 easily due to the 122. Awesome tank.
The gun can delete anyone, I love this tank.
You're rating mobility at 3? I would rate it 5 or 6 due to it's amazing reverse speed. It's an amazing support tank and I generally get 4 - 7 kills per match with it, with the limitation of course being it's reload speed. If you like the IS-2 then you'll love this tank, but if you're not an IS-2 fan then it's worthless.
I'm not IS-2 fan but I still like it....
Cus I play SU-152 and SU-100Y, having turret?! Wow dream come true!🤣🤣🤣
I love this thing. Stay at a distance. Stay in some cover and let them break down infront of your 122mm russian bias. xD It's also decently mobile.
I've manouevered myself into some snug lil positions with solid cover and presented very large problems for enemy advances. Especially when idiot players are coming at you one at a time, you have plenty of opportunities to stick that snout out of cover, fire and roll back immediately. Even if you don't kill them, they will be greviously damaged and unable to pursue while you pull back. If enemy survives he will probably mark your location as he repairs. Don't stick around to finish him unless you're confident his buddies aren't going to come to his aid
Yep! At long range, this thing can even counter 6.3 Jagdpanther FRONTALLY (no ferdi/elephant though).
As HT, KV-122 is ok but meh, but as long range heavy TD, easily the best at br 5.3
Tankestein I Like ur videos so much , never miss 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
A great part of Soviet 5.7 AB lineup with IS1, T34/85 and ISU122S with BTRZD for AA.
I also keep it in my 6.3 lineup as an alternate vehicle for down tiers with premium stats. With T44122, T34100 and IS2 and 2S3M. Sometimes I replace it or 2S3M with SU100
Sometimes I take it up to 5.7 but man getting a full downtier at 5.3 is just hilariously fun
Hey we have basically identical lineups built around this awesome tank. Really fun with those other 6.3 premes!
@@josechristian9513 The most hurt tank by KV-122 probably jumbo: APHE can't pen, HVAP has slightly better chance but absolutely no damage, yet 122mm APHE can pen jumbo from 1km+ away
I miss the old 5.7 with the KV-220 and TV 🥲
I love this tank. I run this the KV-2 zis 6, T-34-85DT, and PT-76 with the yak-3p and ITP. Just a great overall and versatile line up at 5.3 and will more than hold its own at 6.3. I would say your role should be to hunt down the bigger badder tanks of the enemy team since your cannon can’t be stopped.
Its really good, compared to the overtiered nightmare that the IS 2s are right now,but i think its still important to note, dont ever EVER play this as a flanker
IS-2 nowadays will face post-war things pretty much every single game, especially the 1944.
I recommend adding this to a line up with the 2 premium 6.3 USSR tanks. Since its a sniper, you'll not suffer much more than you would at 5.7. You could also play it like a heavy support assault gun, slowly bringing up the rear as lighter vehicles push (assuming you have a team capable of comprehending simple strategy, so don't plan on using it in this role often, but stay adaptable. I also like having an spaa with AP belts, the KV-122 and finally the T-34-57 (or whatever the 5.7 version is called)
Bottom line: very capable support/sniper but if you're one of those people who just holds w as soon as you spawn and don't stop until the enemy blasts you in the face, don't waste your money. This is a precision sledgehammer piece of machinery .
Well... if you have 6.3 prem T-34-100/T-44-122, adding KV-122 won't help much.
If you want prem lineup, I recommend 5.3/7 one: KV-122, prem sherman, SU-122P (much faster and better upf), TU-1, prem T-38-85 (for sale occasionally). If you wan,t you can even drag T-34-57 and SU-100Y for backup (still useful).
I was either gunna buy this or the T-44-122, kinda wish I got this but the T-44-122 does go better in my 6.3
Could you do a stock to spaded on the conway?
angle dunker. I aim mantlet of tigers to annoy them.
Still holding out hope for that decal!
I personally love it
Ah yes, the magical russian aphe that never bounces.
Russian biased
Not really, I've seen 122mm br-471b bouncing off M18 upf 😅
As for real performance, yeah, flat nose AP has reeeeeealy good angle pen
Best value prem for soviet. 4800 ge (significant cheaper than many rank iv prems), rank iv, firepower good up to 6.7 (already beyond full uptier) and absolutely remove anything at br 5.3 including jumbo and "angling" tigers:just aim at upf you are good to go. For absolute beginner, maybe not so good, but for average and above players this thing is printing exp/sl.
May you please do the premium Russian Sherman next. I've tried looking for reviews but I can't find any. I am thinking of getting it to play along my premium T-34-57.
I have it. It's pretty ok as for flanking and urban peek-a-boo (stabilizer does work). Even the cannon is weak (T-34-85 has much better angled pen), but you can choose to damage the barrel and tracks before your opponents even fully stop. Problem is, at 5.3, m4 is literally free exp in the open or at longer range.
@@wangl601 well I tend to like to brawl (thanks to being a heavy tank main in wot but I still played mediums a lot) but the peek-a-boo thing is something I do a lot which is hindered by the t-34-57 not having a stabilizer. I'm a new player to warthunder so I may need more hand holding from tanks so it seems it being free xp isn't good for me rn. Still I get lol penned all the time in the t34 so it won't be that different, I might get it after all in the next sale
Only downside I can give it being an owner is the reload rate.
Even with 5/5 reload and like 4/5 leadership, the reload is around 18 seconds. Not bad when you use it for support
Also considering most tanks go boom after 1 APHE, the reload is not THAT bad.
Is it a good idea to add it to my 5.7 rb lineup?
YES!
It works well with t-34-85s, pt-76, etc.
As a non-owner, my opinion is in a nutshell; scary gun, easy prey.
i would rather have this in 6.3 than the T44-122. that thing is awful
KV-122 is way, wayyyyy better
Isnt it supposed to be an actuall is 2 turret?
Aent stopped me from being aggressive but usally having someone for backup is a good idea
gaijin be like: pay for this or suffer at 6.7-6.3
cuz apparently IS-2(44)=T26E5=TIGER 2 H
also the turret is a kv-85 not IS
Cus today's 6.3-7 tanks used to be 5.7/6.0-6.3😅
Just stick to 5.3/7 untill you get things such as su-122-54, or buy T-34-100.
Don't bother with T-44-122, which has worst reload possible, worse upf than regular t-44 plus a huge weakspot, and an exposed turret ring.
This same gun is stretched all the way to 7.7 😵
IS-3/4/6/T-10A: @!$^$@%$%^!
🤬
Srsly, SU-122-54 have the whole collection of APHE/APDS/HEATFS/HE, why not just give them to IS-3/4/6/T-10A as well?
This is a bad buy. IS-2 gun but same KV-85 weaknesses. The longer reload and higher BR just isn't worth the greater firepower
Not really.
IS-2 (not 1944) can't angle or the upf will be penned by anything at that br. But if you dont angle IS-2, the lower front will be penned. So in fact 6.3 IS-2 is not much better than 5.3 KV-122, yet IS-2 is almost always uptier to 6.7+, KV-122 on the other hand still goes strong even at full uptier. Not to mention if you play KV-122 as heavy TD, you can frontally destroy almost anything within 1km+. Techtree heavy TD with 122mm A-19/D-25 are already 5.3+ AND without turret.
