Awesome video man. I just replaced all timing components, including the guides, and resealed the oil pan, and somehow came across your video before putting it back together. I had bought a 2012 c250 with the p0017 code and heard the chain rattle, and thought the chain replacement and cam alignment tool would help fix the problem. I really wanted to avoid doing this again and having to mess with the camshaft alignment & tensioner, and wanted to get it done in one shot. Looks like this really helped so far. I’ve ran the car for 4 days now and the engine feels smooth, no trouble codes so far
I have the same problem I replaced the timing chain , both adjusters , camshafts selenoid sensors basically everything that could go wrong and i made sure that the marks are 100% aligned and after 2000km yesterday i pushed the car a little harder and i got the P0017 and P0014 , i'm going to try what you did and i think it makes sense because when i was trying to adjust the marks one of them is slightly off even though the camshaft tool is holding them which should be good.
Thank you so much buddy that really helped me because believe it or I have a CLA250 2014 exactly same problem I open that engine believe me maybe four times already nothing help but I'm going to try your ID let's see what's going to happen hopefully I will solve this problem thanks again and God bless
After putting my m271evo together I experience the p0016. Came across the video and it eliminated the code. Now the car is idling rough. My autel scanner shows no code. What stood out to me was the ignition angle staying steady around 5-15 degrees live. Then it starts to creep down to -9 then back to 10 then drops again and so on. The specified value when idling is from 0-20 degrees. My assumption is that there’s not enough tension on the crankshaft gear. When spinning the engine there’s some tension right before TDC then at TDC no tension. Could it be the tension hasn’t released yet?
So you didn’t tighten the cam tool on the exhaust side and were u manually able to move it back one tooth or how did u move it back? You said just assemble everything back without the tool being tight but how were u able to move it back a notch? Once the adjusters are off are you able to move the cam shaft over a notch and then tighten the tool to hold it in place wish I could see how you moved it.
Hey great video, I just got a 2013 e250 exact same as the one on the video. My timing chain has been replaced not that long ago. The car runs great however I am getting a clicking noise on the valve cover specifically on the front. I removed the valve cover and used stethoscope while cranking and I can't find the noise. Do you have any idea? The closest I got sounds like right chain guide/ driver side. Thanks
forgot it exactly iirc if you have a bi-directional scanner its in the dme adaptions area. you clear and reset all the adaptions (sensor/rotor), a battery reset might work (disconnect battery, touch terminals for 15mins). I tried this as a fix to same issue as the video and it resulted in a surging idle, till I put it back to how it is with the locks and reset the dme values (forum post somewhere).@@karlene5561
Do you know if C250 W204 M271 is a non-interference or an interference engine. In other words is there a gap between pistons and valve at TDC, so that in case of breaking timing chain the walves are not touched or bent by piston hitting on valves ?
Bro you helped me so much, on my 2013 c250 I had the chain and adjusters replaced under warranty thankfully! But after the service I still hear somewhat of a rattle intermittently when traveling at low speeds what I think is coming from the areas where the position sensor is on the left side of the engine, so you think I have to replace that aswell or what do you think the culprit is.
I’ve got the same issue after doing the chain but my intake cam is slightly off and the exhaust cam is perfectly straight will I need to redo it so it’s the other way round?
I've done this time chain work before Didnt use an alignment tool car seemed to run fine but every now and then the engine management light came on so I bought Alignment tool and the car ran worse I'm going to try this does anyone know lf there is anything else I need to do before putting it back together
Hi master, a W204 C180, at 124000km After replacing the chain, the noise remained and starts after 3 times. I would like to know how is it possible to correct the problem? Thanks in advance for watching the starting video. ruclips.net/video/qBpRkln74x8/видео.html

Been having the same problem but I get p0016 (intake side fault) thanks for the video I hope it works when I get the car back in god willing!
You are doing gods work
I cannot find the cam adjuster/phaser made by bryton, briton or brighton, can you link the cam phasers, or comment with the name?
Thanks much
Crazy mine is a 2003 m271 so I'm in the middle of this repair I'll check it out. Thanks
Hey PatriotKat.
Possible to share the Mercedes Technical Service Bulletin you are referring to?

May I know if you had P0068 or P0106 codes before you fixed it ?

Dit it help?

Thanks a lot. I have the same problem. Adjust the new cams perfectly. Bud also exause cam troublecode p0017
what was the problem? i have the same issue

you need to reset the dme so it can relearn the correct position since it adapted to the timing with the bad adjusters.
How to do that make a video

So the problem is a faulty camshaft am I right? Would it be another solution to buy a new camshaft with a good alignment of the paddle and the head?

W204 m271 is a non-interference head and cam. Meaning if the timing chain breaks the valves do not clash with the piston normally.
@@timothyhdavis Thanks a lot, David!
Wrong... I just did mine with 4 bent valves...

Im going to try this I do 3 times the timing last time I bent valves when I start car runs with the code p0340 and timing jump
