I've got my first mock for English tomorrow, just want to say thank for saving me with this plot! Took my own twist on the plot but still similar. Finally I feel ready.
@@Class380 so the question 5 that I got was *"either make a story suggested by the picture or write a story where there's a rescue mission"* 1) I used the priest plot where the he wakes up in his grave and in an arrogant way he feels he is going to make it to heaven easily. 2) he acends and sees his gravestone along with 2 signs saying Hell/Heaven. I describe the walk to heaven and its tantalising and alluring. (Lots of compelling adjectives) 3) the priest ends up at the gate where he's asked for his fingerprint to enter Paradise by an unnerving black figure. 4) He's denied access and the floor and atmosphere became alive and fell apart into a sickening humid setting. 5) He begs and cries for mercy and God appears to him. 6) God promises to rescue the priest with the one condition that he stops being arrogant. 7) the priest is grateful and happy he's saved. The end. Of course I used lots of sophisticated language techniques and words and adverbs to open my sentences. I made sure it was detailed and was relevant. I'd say to leave 30 minutes to write it to the best level. Especially to make the most out of the 40 marks. Good luck!
@@tahiya450 thank you :) My teacher is saying that if we use the priest plot we will be at account of plagiarism so, I don’t know how to switch it around a bit.
@@Class380 my teacher said the opposite! He said that if we alter it to not fit the question but also use our own structural and language techniques then we wont get flagged for plagiarism. But I used this for my mocks and proof read it with my teacher before the exam he said it should be fine. For the real exam I'm definitely going to use my own plot just in case, but this was perfect for a quick story for my exam.
I’m on a grade 8 right now for language in my mocks you needed 66 marks for a 9, I got 65, at first I was trying to grovel for marks, then I realised that on this question I only got 29, which left a three mark margin for error for questions 1-4. Albeit I only dropped 4 marks on questions 1-4 the point still stands that my creative writing needs to improve, so o thank you for this video it will hopefully be the difference between a grade 8 and a 9
@@user-le4tt4oq7i my English teacher is a great woman, she helped a lot, one major tip is always short introduction, 4 main paragraphs consisting of: tone (it will always be there, even the absence of tone is a type of tone), then one more structural device as tone counts for one already, this can be anything between: repetition, tense changes, 1st 2nd or 3rd person, rhetorical question, anaphora and that’s just naming a notable few. She understands structural devices are difficult to pick out and there are fewer than language so always do tone then one of the aforementioned structural devices, as for two language avoid doing similes and very obviously handpicked devices go for if possible: metaphors, personification, pathetic fallacy, sibilance, plosives, idioms, euphemisms, irony, hyperboles and many more, the examiner will always pick out a text rich full of both structural and language devices, identifying them is a matter of practice so get on those past papers. As for layout it will usually be an “what extent do you agree with the statement” always agree the question is set up to be easier to agree with, then start with tone, then a structural device, followed by two language devices and a summary of the 4 main paragraphs, remember to reinstate the focus of the question with every paragraph, if you’d like an example of two opening paragraphs from my 19/20 question feel free to ask

@@tahiya450 ohh ok I’m definitely going to use it for the real one but not the mocks just to be safe
I’m on a grade 8 right now for language in my mocks you needed 66 marks for a 9, I got 65, at first I was trying to grovel for marks, then I realised that on this question I only got 29, which left a three mark margin for error for questions 1-4. Albeit I only dropped 4 marks on questions 1-4 the point still stands that my creative writing needs to improve, so o thank you for this video it will hopefully be the difference between a grade 8 and a 9
do you got tips for question 4 im always stuck on 11/20 can you tell the structure and how many paragraphs plz
@@judethompson2071 thank you can you saved my life on q4 for wednesday, can u send your 19/20 exempler please

''No Cap, No lies, I can't believe I just said that''
Haha, so funny!
if quite a lot of people use this format won't it become quite obvious to the examiners and they might grade down...?
exactly what i thought
do you think our mocks will be similar to our results? i'm scared that i wont get a similar result but im aiming for higher
I'm scared the texts won't be anywhere near similiar so I won't be able to make infs
Don't worry about it too much, i don't think they will be too hard because they are kinda going easy on us with the whole lockdown thing. You'll get what you get and that's all you can do.
CAN I JUST SAY I FLIPPIN APPRECIATE YOU RUBBING OUT EVEN THE SMALL TRACES OF BOARD MARKER I HATE WHEN TEACHERS LEAVE HALF THE STUFF THERE AND LEGIT START SCRIBBLIN OVER IT 😫😫😫 my rant for today
Would you mind making a full video of how to write a story suggested by the picture? Please.🙏
Cheers man.
Nice one mate
thanks alot
I look at the past paper. The question is asking us to describe a place or write a opening story ... Not writing story, what structure are we using on that type of question
God bless you life savour
