My 62 year old mother tells me every single time there is a school shooting that she and several other teachers, assistants, and staff have discussed how they will not hesitate to use their own bodies as shields to protect the children. The school is close enough to my house that I will be able to hear the shots being fired in the event of a school shooting. Earlier this year she told a student to stop hitting the little girl sitting next to him and he looked my mother in the eye and told her he was going to bring his daddy's gun to school so he can kill her. This is the country we live in. Yes guns are fun to shoot, but I'm not trying to see my mother or my nephews lying in caskets along with all the other victims of the next school shooting.

@@Robertsmith001 because some people don't want to carry a firearm into a school. They've never used one and don't want to. What a society we've created. If you’re not built for that I think you should stay out of this debate. Your mother would better serve those kids by training with a firearm and returning fire on the monster instead of throwing herself in front of the kids, that’s not going to stop any thing. It’s honorable and all but not effective in stopping a active shooter. No offense meant towards you or your mother, I just think we need to look at these things in reality & approach it properly.

Make no mistake he bought it because it wanted it. I've questioned him and others SO MANY times why they need it that I'm exhausted. There IS NO reason. They want it because it's cool, fun, it's intimidating and to "assault" wild pigs and deer. They say it's for protection but they know it's an excuse. When mass shootings happen they will send thoughts and prayers, they'll give ANY explanation on how to solve them problem except GIVING UP the AR. The real truth is they don't care. Yeah they can sympathize but it won't matter really until it hits home personally. I've tried, begged and tried to play on their emotions but nothing works. I get the standard "tree hugging libtard". They would rather watch the world go down in a cloud of gunfire than give up their favorite TOY. Maybe next time at target practice I could give them all a taste of the brick. LOL

Basically what your saying is weaker, smaller people find comfort in being able to provide protection for themselves.... being able to provide self protection for yourself and family seems to be important to many people, they feel one shot is not enough protection against criminals who who don't abide by laws now. Murder is illegal,no matter what the weapon. It could be a knife,a fire, a powder,a virus, a car...... weapons of all sorts indeed. My premises are protected by deadly non combusting natural gases...but our constitution wanted the people to be as strong as the government to combat tyranny if needed. The only way any new world order could overtake the world is to de-weaponize Americans. The best way they can do that is to get us to hand them over happily. After every shooting,I see people turn in weapons to police who have collection corners in and around metropolitan areas across this country. It scares me that we are doing this and limiting speech.... America is not free anymore

Allow me to offer an example of why that makes little difference. Everyone can come up with an example they see in their lives. Here's mine...
I'm a truck driver. There are a very large number of truck drivers who constantly complain about federal HOS(Hours Of Service) laws we must follow. They seem to think because they feel that they can handle their schedules responsibly, without restrictions, those restrictions shouldn't exist. That thinking is just ignorance. The laws exist because there are drivers who would be more dangerous on the roads without those laws and because there are members of management in trucking companies who would push drivers beyond their comfort levels if those laws didn't exist to curb this. I know no one really needs that example, but there it is anyway. Decisions like this aren't made to restrict the large percentage of people who can be trusted. The decisions are made to protect others from the small percentage who can't be trusted.

Extreme right wingers keep hinting at and threatening political violence... also there is a multi perp surge in group attacks.... I just don't want to be the only guy in the fight without an AR. I am a Vietnam vet with three Purple Hearts... followed by twelve years as a military contractor. Lots of gun fights. Name the semi auto military rifle and I have provably used it at one time or another. I am an experienced gun fighter.
Several times I have gone up against a military rifle with just a handgun... its a hard row to hoe. I survived by sheer luck, usually by just escaping.
I think that high capacity semi auto rifles should have never been allowed in the hands of the civilian public. However, I don't see a way of stuffing that genie back into the bottle.
I think a possible first step is to make the open carry of rifles illegal. Every time I see some 2A nut carrying a rifle openly I want to pull on them.... but I don't.

Hears my take on AR - 15 owners . I’ll use a neighbor a couple of houses down from me , he’s a 47 year old boy , he’s 5’01” , he shaves his head , he is covered with tattoos , he wears sleeveless shirts, oh and he drives a 4 wheel drive pickup , big tires, raised soo high I don’t know how he gets in it . That pickup has never been on a dirt road much less a river . The other one is pretty much the same except this one has an 90’s something Corvette parked in his driveway that hasn’t moved in over 2 years , ( yes 2 years ) . He washes and waxes it monthly, but never drives it . Another person told me that the engine was blown 3 months after he bought it. The Corvette owner has 2 AR- 15’s . I think they both have mental issues AND I watch them closely.

I've got a friend in London, Ontario who's a gun enthusiast. He has an armory. He has a section of his home that's basically a vault full of guns. Everything from old flintlock pistols to the MCX-Spear. He loved guns. But he's also a RESPONSIBLE gun owner. Every gun is safety secured, with all ammo locked up in a different room. He does keep a handgun next to his bed for security (in a finger print locked safe). He's got hundreds of guns. And he's fully in support of Canada's gun laws. He's said that if the government said he needed to turn in some of them, he'd have no issue doing so. Because collecting guns is something he enjoys. Shooting guns is something he enjoys (safely at the range). But guns are a tool to kill people. Period. That's what they exist for. Yes, some people can use some for hunting, but those aren't the ones mass shooters buy. Guns won't stop a tyrannical government, because they have the military and will kill you before you even know they're coming. A handgun CAN be used in defense of your home, if you're well trained in it's use (a large number of home deaths involve someone shooting themselves or a loved one with a gun they bought for defense). But the idea that everyone should be armed to the teeth is idiotic.
You want guns, you should be able to prove you can be trusted with them. You should go through thorough background and mental checks, get trained and licensed, and have the gun registered. If you follow the laws, you get your gun. The second you BREAK the laws, you should lose them.
The argument is always "well gun laws just hurt law abiding gun owners." No, they don't. If you're law abiding, the laws don't affect you. If you're a CRIMINAL that wouldn't pass a background check... THEN they affect you.

They dont? Theyre trying to ban ar's specifically on cosmetics. A supressor that protects hearing cost around 500 and takes a year to get. You normally have to apply to your local sheriff for a handgun permit and they can refuse it for any reason. Which usually means race. The feds can ban you from owning firearms because you went to therapy. Or ban a cosmetic on a firearm just because. Or declare because you put a handle on a rifle it is now a banned firearm e en if you take it off..etc etc
And lets face it..the real goal of gun control is to make firearms illegal except in tge hands of upperclass whites and the police

People tried to use the argument that gun regulation wouldn't stop bad guys in Australia when they introduced legislation in 1996, guess what? It did largely stop bad guys because it turns out most criminals obtain guns through residential theft, it's very hard to steal a gun and the ammunition when they are locked in separate gun safes bolted to a concrete slab.
