I think most actors were miles better than Brando and Pellicer. Both main actors were empty and dead, leaving the hard job to Carl Malden, Ben Johnson, Slim Pickens, Larry Duran

One of my top ten westerns. Beautiful cinematography/scenery, good acting, and a typical revenge movie with a bit of a twist on the part of Rio at the end. Ben Johnson is a hoot as a villain, very scraggly and unkempt, with some memorably funny lines.

I am glad to see this film in high definition, it is one of my favorite films. Brando did a great job directing and acting. My respect for Brando for putting this cast together. Well made film and truly entertaining.
This is easily one of the best westerns I have ever seen. And not just a great western but a great movie. Convincing performances by the entire cast; even more than Brando, Karl Malden impressed me. There's only one point that bothered me, the conversations in Spanish that lacked subtitles in English. Maybe the producers never thought their westerns would be watched in India or in places outside the American continents. That did not detract from the movie, however, as the context and the actors' skills made the meaning clear.
In 1961 my older brother worked at a drive in theater in Oak Cliff Texas. I was 9 years old. One night this movie was on. I was memorized as I watched. I'm glad it's on RUclips. I' hope to watched it again. Carl Malden was a really good bad guy, and ben Johnson played a great "scum sucking pig." Gotta new name for life long politicians. :)

Vendette e vendette, ma poi subentra la legge, e poi di nuovo i tradimenti umani che spuntano come le ciliegine sulla torta. Insomma è un film che ti lascia un sospiro da mozzafiato. What a great movie!!! With such a Marlon Brando, one cannot expect more. It seems that the director has prepared it especially for him to measure. And what a beautiful love story!!! It looks like a reality and it wasn't a movie. The nuances are of a very good subject, with a highly skilled surreal. He sold and sold, but then the law takes over, and then again the human treachery that crops up like the icing on the cake. In short, it is a film that leaves you with a breathtaking sigh. Ok, just saw this for the first time 2024. It is, in my opinion one of the best western movies I’ve seen. It literally has everything, sensational scenery, excellent acting, plot, and Brando’s gun-play was exemplary, especially for the 1961 time frame. We didn’t get that level of gun action, until recent times in my opinion. Fun western! Highly recommended 👍
