Great Video Jared ! I had a Canon Ef adapter for my 16-35 F4 and my 100mm 2.8 . I sold the 100mm 2.8. The 16-35 bad bayonet mount was scored ,so the buyer sent it back. I got the lens yesterday. I unboxed the lens . I went to my backpack to get my adapter. Well ,the case was in there but not the adapter. I have looked high and low for it , but no luck . In the interest of sanity, I ordered the Neewer adapter with the control ring for $96.00 bucks but no weather sealing ! I will properly find my other one now!
I really do like you but I will fight you on this. The Meike Drop-in filter EF/EF-S adapter is the best one. I am not sure if it would be feasible but a drop-in filter adapter with a control ring would be pretty nice
I was an early adopter to the RF Mount right when the EOSR came out and I still have never used a drop in filter adapter with my EF glass. The $600 price on canon was a turnoff, but with these third parties being so affordable I'll have to check it out. I do hate using screw ons all the time and I would probably puck up more EF glass for video if it made it easier.
Excellent as usual. Thank you. Which would you suggest the Neewer or Meike. I have moved EOS R mirrorless just yesterday. Your videos provide a lot of info and I wanted to get your opinion on the two adapters. Thanks
Both companies have produced excellent quality products over the years. As for the adapter my experience has been with the Meike. If you are looking for just a ef to RF with not control ring option or ND filter option I would just pay the $99 and get the canon version. The ND is pretty reasonable too here amzn.to/3L607H8
Why did you pick the R6 mkii over the R5? re: Meike, (with out the control ring) how much light do you lose with the standard ring? thank you in advance.
It does not work with my 2 tamron lenes, I found the firmware update but there are no instructions on how to install it! Just connecting the adapter to my pc does not yield any results and I have no access to the adapter. Any clues?
It's been awhile since I did it, but I believe you go to their website, download the firmware, connect your adapter with USB to the computer and bring the firmware file over. Ther should be instructions.
@@JaredHoyman thx, than my adapter was indeed defective. I returned it a week ago and the shop sent me an original canon one back because they don't sell that one anymore. Great video btw :)
@@mastroitek I had problems with my tamron 18-400m and the normal EF / RF adapter from Canon.. Then I used the tamron on my MEIKE Speedbooster just for fun. And that seems to be solved everything.. Works flawlessly on my normal ef/RF adapter and the R7

@@willemdebeer2507 in the meantime I have tried more adapters, and I'm now just more confused because their behaviour is completely random. In any case, in my experience when the camera can't focus properly, leave the camera on and open the battery slot, partially release the battery and pop it right in. This has fixed my autofocus issues on a few lenses. Not a clean process, but better than nothing
Do you know if the battery drain with this adapter has been solved? When you leave the camera all night with the adapter attached, there is huge battery drain
I just ordered my adapter and downloaded the FW file. Will be here on Sunday so I'll test it then. Have read many reviews that stated that it did indeed fix the battery drain. I have the Canon adapter (without ring) and am missing it with the R7. Still within return window, so if this works out okay, back goes the Canon version. Thanks for the review. It was helpful.
@@AndrewCCM Yes, I tried to update firmware, but I wasn't able since any pc could detect the adapter when connecting it to the USB. Please, let us know if you manage do it and how! ☺
It will be the declicking option with a new firmware update. And a special dedicated button will appears under control ring if you'll pay for declicking update. Subscription also will be available soon.
When you use an rf lens with with control ring it will automatically be set to adjust exposure compensation. You cannot change it to do something else. I know the r100 gets a lot of hate but it’s actually a great little camera to use.
I would hate to find out that the new sensor shakes the same violent way when its in my backpack and I'm riding my fat bike on rough terrain. Any way to lock the sensor when its off ??

Nice video Sir. Took my R mark ii on a Tamron 24-70 f2.8 g2 for a test drive today , superb kit.
I love the Tamron 2.8’s (70-200, 24-70) with my R6… eventually will probably get a Mark II, just not yet.

Great video. Is this just the normal MEIKE EF/Rf adapter or the one with a 0.71 crop factor?
planning on purchasing one for my R7
Just the regular one with control ring. I do have a viltrox .71 speedbooster but I don’t know if you can buy that one anymore.

less expensive version of the canon adapter so that you can use your old EF lenses on your RF body,
I bought the canon version with the control ring...
