Since I’m trans and I like explaining things, I can’t leave this alone so here’s my take,
From the context of this story it seems to me like Alexandria is a post-op trans woman, because they have Already made love without any “revelations” happening, but now she told him she was transgender and it’s understandably a shock to him
I think it’s okay that she waited to tell him this because it was proven 3 months ago that she *did* fulfill his needs of having a girlfriend with the genitals he prefers (vagina), and that was that, his needs were met, her needs were met and it was cool (but I will admit it would have made him more comfortable with her if she would have just told him when they first met, and that’s the goal in dating you want the other person comfortable, and maybe that was a miss on her part)
Now there could have been a lot of reasons why she didn’t tell him straight up, she could have thought that it was a personal detail of her life that she would rather wait for him to know, she could have been insecure about his love for her as a woman, and so on
On the guy’s part, he really didn’t deal with this revelation so gracefully, I get that this is a new thing to him but he acted way too immaturely about it (the drinking bleach, and showering as if she had somehow “contaminated” him or his straightness) it’s made very clear that he’s the kind of guy who leads with his feelings first rather than logic and if he took a moment to calm down and look at this from a logical standpoint he would see that she meets all of his needs and that there were no problems and they could just continue dating with him knowing her identity
But to give credit where credit is due, he realized the facts and accepted her as not only a woman but his girlfriend (even in the face of his… not-so-allied father) and they were able to move on until the relationship ended
This would have been a completely different story if Alexandria had been pre-op, sex would have never happened between then because she couldn’t meet his genital preference so they never would have gotten that far and she would have been in the wrong for not telling him that she had a penis before initiating anything, not telling him would have been a horrible mistake on her part and she should feel ashamed for tricking him
Case in point, respect genital preferences of those you date and if you can’t fulfill someone else’s genital preference, it’s not the end of the world, just find someone else!
(I will admit the ending was funny though, and with the ending being what it is, just because you date a post-op trans woman doesn’t mean you may be gay)
