Thank you so much for this video. I am trying to start a small potted garden on my patio. I was hoping to grow some soybeans because my daughter and I enjoy eating tofu so much. I am amazed at how quickly they grow. I look forward to your other videos.
Nice video. I love it and the skeleton drawn bucket too. I don't know why people itching about the pronunciation. It was normal and fine. everything was understandable and clear. you gave us all the information we need. thanks from India
Planted 12 of these plants, 3 died after transplanting, and I have 1 that I injured or broke pretty badly that didnt recover, but at the moment I have 7 plants that have pods growing on them! 1 plant is behind and looks like it hasnt grown in weeks despite being watered and fertilized. There is new growth, just looks like its couple weeks behind its siblings, so maybe itll produce yet. I have them spaced about 15 inches apart, wondering if I couldn't plant them a bit closer to get more plants planted.

I'm growing a variety that does better in colder climates. Growing it in Scotland, i put them outside but they didn't grow much so i took them back inside and they grew better and started to grow some pods now. Mine are more like vines rather than bushes as i think they are looking for light!
Edamame and soybeans are basically the same thing. Edamame is, in my experience, usually referring to eating the green seeds, whereas soybeans are usually the final stage (last scene of the video)
Excellent video. You are very knowledgeable. When re you going to sell seeds. I am located in Vancouver Canada. Do you think soya beans will grow well here. Thanks
There is a verity developed for Nordic climates in Sweden in the 1940s, that works great for me in Stockholm Sweden, as far as I understand we have relatively similar climates. The variety is called ‘fiskeby V’. I think you can get the beans to sow in North America aswell from a quick search online. Otherwise have a search and see if there is any variety that is suited or developed for the Canadian climate.
I did some research on planting soybeans, so here is what I know based on what I searched. Edamame (at its green stage) is still young. Typically seeds are harvested for replanting at its full maturity, when the pods are yellow/brown and dry. Maybe that is why the edamame was not germinating, bc it was harvested when it was young! I bought a bag of the mature sprouting soybeans in the asian market, and they do sprout!
You mention Florida in this video, is that where you are? What zone are you in? I am in Florida zone 9 and am always looking for gardeners who know when to plant things in this humid environment lol
You can grow almost anything in a hot/humid climate. Any cooler plants are best grown in winter, and take in mind of the extreme heat in summer. If you do intend in growing throughout summer, use a shadehouse and take mind of the amount of light that is available to your plants.
Don’t till your soil ma’am. Plant yourself a cover crop. Include a legume and a grass at least. I recommend crimson or balansa clover with annual ryegrass and maybe a tiller radish.
I’m sorry your wife doesn’t; share your interest in gardening. Perhaps you might change her mind if you find something to grow that she would like to eat and that doesn’t need too much work. I see no reason for rude and derogatory comments from people like Sankofa X. Your profanity shows little respect for dragon sniper. Shame on you.
Hope it went well! There is an ‘old’ verity developed in the 1940s for Nordic climates, it’s called ‘fiskeby V’ or atleast its called that here in Sweden. It’s supposed to handle the short warm season and a bit rainier summers we get pretty well.
This is an amazing video with details on how to grow soybeans and I thank you for this brief sensational Walk through.

You can try early matured varieties which only take about 70 days from sowing to harvest.

為何我種的毛豆沒有好像你的粗壯, 我的只是不段長高, 很軟弱。
I have no idea what that means, but I agree!
你的毛豆種的地方有足夠的陽光?你有澆充足的水分?還用你的毛豆有面臨蟲害問題嗎?以上這幾個問題只要有一樣出現就可以讓你的毛豆虛弱長不大

when you u top dress and mix in the top soil, arent you disturbing the roots? arent you better off just sprinkle on top rather than mix?
PStimeless
A little bit so need to be gentle. It rains heavily here a lot. If do not mix the soil, the fertilizer will be washed away.
