I thought this episode not only worked but worked wonderfully! I laughed out loud so many times, including at the end. It is so lovely to have a weekly ticket to Norway and have such a good time visiting!
Wonderful, wonderful podcast. Don’t change. Just be yourselves and you will always make us happy and laugh a little too. You do not realise just how entertaining you two are. I Just love ALL the chat. A little bit of “silly” is so endearing. Thank you millions. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You guys are great. I love your humor and the relaxed unscripted format. Please don’t stop Sit & Knit because I have gotten to know you in a way that I otherwise would not have. Thanks to Anna and Eric for their work and your guest stars ...Helmer and Freya and of course Moose-Moose!
Carlos, I hope you won't mind me saying that I got the feeling that you were starting to feel a little tired and maybe unwell towards the end of this video. I hope that you feel better soon. Don't try to do too much too soon. You need to take care of yourself.
Just like sitting with friends and chatting! As usual, sweet and funny and informative. Arne reading his childhood books was so exciting for me, because I am also re re reading my most favorite childhood books by Enid Blyton. ( I'm in my mid sixties). Still totally in love with all of them. It's a time machine, reading childhood books. Totally transports me to simple carefree days and the thrill of adding another book to my collection when I was young. In these crazy times, I certainly am enjoying going back to reading old books, once in a while.
I too love Enid Blyton, especially The Famous Five. A group of us played the roles of the characters, so it brings back very happy memories of old friends too. As you say, a simpler, more carefree life!
Love the way you describe reading children’s books being like a time machine.... I’ve returned to The Narnia Chronicles throughout my adulthood, particularly during difficult times 💐
“ the house ate” your needle felting supplies 😊 Arne, I think my house eats random items that are missing, too😅 You both just bring so much fun and entertainment and hope that we will get back to normal eventually! Meanwhile, thanks for sharing your adventures with us. Sending love to you both!!
After you finish nancy drew - read the american childrens book “The Borrowers” a family of tiny psople who live in the walls. The ‘borrow’ things from the house for use in their home. Really cute!
Moose, snowshoes, home that used to be the train depot. All so fun to hear you both laugh and making your audience think we are there with you! Lovely video!
So loved this episode Arne and Carlos. So much history behind the railway station. Rest up Carlos and thank you to you both for making the time to do these wonderful episodes. Take care.
Love the quote; 'like the plague or cholera'. It is just wonderful being able to take a bit of time to relax knit and listen to your stories. Thank you so very much.
Oh I love talking about books! I loved Nancy Drew too. (I was born in 1953.) I like Haruki Murakami, too. So glad you are back on track. Carlos, you look great and we missed you! Arne, I can watch you slow knitting any day. 😍📚🎨🙋🏼
Oh my goodness! Nancy Drew is my FAVORITE sleuth! She can do everything: tap dance, Morse code, expert carpenter, etc etc. The old original books are wonderful: she pulls on her gloves before she gets in her roadster. She gives advice like “stay away from the fireplace when the rescue helicopter shows up because the sparks will ruin your sleek coif.” And hey - the room you are in, with its wonderful paneling, looks straight out of a Carl Larsson painting. I have a little mountain camp like it and try to model the rooms after Larsson’s ideas. There is a “funny” meme circulating here about the financial anxiety we feel when we hear our furnaces kicking in. The cold will bankrupt us all. I’m knitting your patterns like mad and am staying warm. Thanks for this chat! Xx
I laughed soooooooo looud and soooooooo long! This was THE PERFECT remedy for this cold and dark Minnesota day! Thank you, Arne and Carlos for your smiles, your humor, your curiosity, your sense of adventure, and your playfulness! Thank you! The history of how Norway got tartans was something I had never heard before! And the word "Nes"(my husband's ancestors are from Nes). I knew the place in Norway but never linked with "Ness" in Scotland. Wow. What a gift "Sit and Knit For a Bit" has become. ♥ Best wishes!
It is so good to see you well Carlos!! You need a Zamboni to clear some ice skating area on the lake for you to skate and get your physio outside in nature.😂 Arne, I just recently bought a needle felting kit to make little mice.... Will you show us yours when it arrives? Thank you for the silliness with the ticket window.... Laughter is good 🤗
Hello Arne and Carlos.. Such a joy to visit with you as I sit and work on my hooked rug.. So grateful to you both for sharing your stories..be well and be safe..
This is a lovely soothing background actually. One obvious fact is you have beautiful candleholders everywhere. That is really suitable too to your home you have carefully developed it into a very special Preservational Residence ♥️
It ALWAYS works! Thank you, as always, for a lovely hour in wintry Norway. As a former history museum employee, I especially enjoyed hearing some of the history of your railway station home. Have a great week, and hello to all the moose visitors. I want a ticket to Arne’s & Carlos’s house!
I just love it when you do funny things in your Pod casts It comes naturally and I can see you love to have fun.Being proper all the time is very boring don’t you think? I love you guys and hope you stay healthy, content and live life the way you desire.
Thank you, I’m glad you are staying home so we can enjoy the videos! I look forward to Wednesdays , I’m recovering from hand surgery, it will be a long recovery, so no crochet for me now. I hope you get the COVID vaccine soon, I got my first dose. Loved the ticket sales window! Stay warm and safe
i lov u guys. im a 67 yr old stroke survivor in nova scotia eastern canada. after the stroke it took 7 yrs to get left hand strong enough to hold the needle so i can knit again. i knit mostly for charity. i lov it and really enjoy you two. i got a good laugh listening to you tell the story about the poodle hating the coat. i have a poodle too. Sparky is 2 1/2 yrs old and a mini poodle weighs 20 lbs. black with lil brown moustache
Living in a railwaystation remembers me that we once visited a man who lived in a railwaystation in Setesdal. He collected buttons in all sizes, forms and coulors. We came from the Netherlands and he was able to talk to us in dutch!
I grew up on the edge Sinclair Bay in Caithness, Scotland, with Sinclair Castle across the bay from us! This is the home of the Sinclairs whose tartan you are using, a fascinating (if gory) story.
Just want you to know how much your broadcasts mean to me. I watched everyday during Christmas and your book on Christmas balls was one of my presents. It was a comfort to watch you tonight. My father is in the hospital dying of covid and may not live till morning. Anyway, thank you for the joy you bring. Fondly, Victoria Hart Ingalls. Kansas City, U S A
Hello Arne and Carlos! I so enjoy your videos. I love to hear your thoughts and history of beautiful Norway that are intertwined in conversation. My mother and grandmother were born in Oslo. Grandma 1900, mom 1920. I was able to visit in 1999. The trip of a lifetime! You both are wonderful and I wish I could knit like you do. The mittens you have been showing are amazing! Look forward to next video from you. Stay well, warm, and safe💕
Thankyou so much for your news from Norway this week . I love this formatt it feels like we are having a cosy chat with you at home xxx. The mittens are beautiful . Great fun in your ticket office 😍😍😍😍
We have a Boston Terrier and when we got him from the breeder we had to sign a contract saying that we will put a sweater/coat on him when we have to wear a sweater/coat.
Nancy Drew?!! My very favorite books growing up. A few years ago I reread a few and was so amazed. I love to solve puzzles and mysteries still today, probably because of these books. So much fun.
Silly is good!!! Another great episode to knit along with on my Pairfect socks. I’m surprised that you have not knitted Helmer a sweater yet. Maybe he would like that better than the puffy coat. I appreciate your “look on the bright side” attitude, Carlos, we all have much to be grateful for. See you next time. 🧶❤️🇨🇦
Well Scottish born and bred here and I never knew the history of Scots going over to fight in Norway/Sweden. But I have been to Orkney several times. Now living in California. I can knit but prefer Quilting and Cross Stitch. But that does not stop me loving all your videos because you share such interesting pieces of information. Thank you.
11:50 “Helmer hates his coat” - Some of my pets will not touch manmade fibers. Has Helmer tried a natural fiber (wool, silk, cashmere, alpaca) sweater or coat?
“Handy Hunk of the knitting world” adorable 🥰. My beloved doggie was immobilised when we put her coat on her. She loathed it. So lovely to see you together again and to hear that your health is improving Carlos 💐💐 “Oh hundreds” 🤣🤣🤣🤣😘
I can now really relate to your winter stories. It is freezing in central Texas and the snow is thick on the ground. The trees are breaking from the ice. Our electricity comes and goes and so does the water. Our systems are not set up for weather this cold. Outside, the deer are huddled together. Our dog Trixie wears a sweater when she goes out. All this is to say, I really enjoyed this episode as I felt like we were talking together about shared experienes. So happy you all are back.
I believe the glass in the ticket window is considered beveled around the edges. Love the episode . Nice to see Carlos looking rested and more energetic.
Hello Dear Arne & Carlos I love to see your guys back. You are not silly. Your podcast was beautiful and heartfelt. Can't wait to see your Felt work. I just starting felting . It's fun . I did a pony . Thank you for making your post cast so much fun . 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I love that you are reading Nancy Drew. I have been reading through them again too, after 50 years. They are so simple and easy to read and so innocent.
Who can visit two very interesting and artistic friends that live in a renovated train station in Norway once a week? -- I can!!!!! Thank you for such interesting visits every week-- I look forward to them and hate that I have to wait a whole week for our next one. Please don’t stop !!!!
This certainly has worked guys. Absolutely fabulous hearing about the train station and seeing the ticket office ( the ticket chappie was a hoot getting stuck in the plant). Laughed about the dog coat as it reminded me of our springer spaniel who had to have a coat in the winter. We used to have it hung by the back door and he would stand waiting for us to put it on him before he went out. Yes it was the coat of shame when we first bought it for him but he soon got used to it. Looking forward to seeing the new felting and hearing more updates on what you have both been getting up to and how you are progressing Carlos. Really great watching you both - loved it and will have to watch again ......thank you 👏👏🍰
I have been enjoying these podcasts immensely, and this one was no exception. I smiled all the way through and laughed at the end when a ticket was ordered through the window. It was fascinating to hear the history of the what was once the train station and has now become your home. Love the new block. Absolutely gorgeous. Know that we are all happy as can be as spectators and are just thrilled to (pardon the pun) "go along for the ride"!! :D
I was a glass glazer until I was medically retired and I never saw such a beautiful window, you are so wise to appreciate it. I have framed many windows but nothing that beautiful. Love your videos they are so peaceful to watch, thank you for them.
Your videos are so much fun to watch. I loved when Arne said he couldn't find his needle felting stuff because the house was eating things. I'm going to remember that one when I can't find something and have to buy it again. Have a happy day. Also, show the moose. It must be wonderful to see a moose so close up.
All your lovely episodes are so different, but always from the heart! Thank you both for the time that you give to us all, and remember, should you not feel ‘on top of the world’ at any time, then we will understand. However, this podcast was fascinating, and as warm and engaging as always!thank you both!❤️
I grew up living in train stations in Saskatchewan, as my dad was a station agent. I have very fond memories of playing on the train tracks and having trains roar by my bedroom window multiple times a day! We are just exiting an extreme 2 week polar vortex with temps -30 to -40C, so I’m really looking forward to Spring.
Another great sit & knit for a bit episode. I love the craziness, it shows that your podcast is real and not staged. Thank you for all you share about Norway history and customs- so very informative. Thank you for the Moose knit block, I love your work. And those mittens- so lovely. Enjoy your week.
Another formidable episode, Arne and Carlos! Last December, I watched “The King’s choice”, a most interesting film about the choice the Norwegian royal family had to make in 1940. A highly impressive lesson about inner strength and believes in what is right. I am sure you’ll have seen it. I often think that adversity is not the issue in itself, it’s how we respond to it. Sending armfuls of hugs from North Yorkshire 🧶🤗🧶🤗
Hello from Yorkshire in England! Such a fun episode and so very interesting too. I adore the little ticket window, a gorgeous glimpse into the past and it is wonderful to see how many historical features of your home that you have sensitively restored to treasure for future generations. As for the new knitted block, it’s the marvellous moose we have all been waiting for! Hurrah for moose! Carlos, you looked weary at the end, do remember to pace yourself. We all love to see you but we don’t want to wear you out, although it was delightful to see how happy you were Arne to be back with your beloved Carlos. As for being silly, who cares? Laughing is good for the soul and we all need some silliness in our lives right now. Stay safe and keep sharing your joy 🧶🧵✨
I love Jeri Landers of Hopalong Hollow too. I had thought to try needle felting but it looks like tedious work stabbing something 20,000 times 😁 Arne, you should learn needle felting and do tutorials. I'm glad you are back with Sit and Knit, thoroughly enjoyed the silliness. Be well❤
I'm so excited to hear about your collaboration. I'm scottish and love Orkney and the mix of Scottish and Scandinavia there. I even called my son Magnus when he was born last year. You have made a maternity leave during covid so much more pleasurable through your videos and personalities. Thank you so much for everything
Love your video. Thank you 😊 With the winter ❄️ storms here in Texas, we didn’t have more than 6 hours of electricity and heat for three days. We had 8 degrees Celsius in the house. Electricity is back on, but we are without water for the third day. We are still not sure if the water lines held up .... good grief! Glad for cell service we got back and watching you both 😊
I smiled all the way thru this chat. You had a lovely past week it seems. Arne the mittens look like the bass clef symbol on a sheet of music. Carlos I like thinking of a walk in the snowy woods in snowshoes. I love ice skating and wish the rivers around NYC would freeze enough to skate upon. Lovely episode so much going on... wood burning stoves ..... see you next week
I love listening to stories about your dogs. I have a mini poodle and he's a wonderful sweet companion. Dogs are lovely creatures. I loved the podcast.
I love the beveled glass in the ticket window, so great that you have preserved it and have so much fun with it! I love Arne’s sweater and the mitts for the orchestra.
Loved seeing you two especially seeing where you live - great to have your company as I re-tie a really old ( I think 1930s ) quilt that I'm "rescuing" Thank you 😊
Thank you Arne & Carlos for such a wonderful sit and Knit for a bit I love the window and the history of your home, it looks truly cosy and wonderful, I enjoyed a good laugh as always with you both , your amazing company love to you both XX
It is so nice to catch up with you guys with your week. The moose square is beautiful! I was seven years old when I first discovered Nancy Drew. My favorite teacher ever introduced me to the series. Then, when I was eight, I found the Hardy Boys series. It fueled my lifelong love of mysteries. Have a wonderful week!
Your beautiful house is eating your stuff! Thanks for the good laugh at the end. I look forward to seeing the lake all frozen. It was minus 25c this morning here but warmed up to minus 5 this afternoon. HUgs from Waterloo, Ont. Canada
For me this is an amazing podcast for several reasons. I am from Scottish heritage and every time you’ve discussed your traditional outfits you are making I’ve wondered if my tartan would have been acceptable if I had been Norwegian (my children have my Scottish heritage and their father’s Norwegian heritage). I understand now that my tartan would not have been accepted and why. I enjoyed that history section. Then you spoke about the orchestra and knitting with them in the future. My knitting life revolves highly around knitting handwarmers (as I like to call them). This is at least 75% of what I do. And then you showed your beautiful mitten. I peered over my knitting to catch a glimpse. Then something amazing! Your wrist warmers, bold and beautiful! And as if that was not enough, Carlos, you demonstrated how a person could play violin with them on. Your movement of the bow arm was perfect! I spent years teaching students to acquire that fluidity in bowing. Do you play?
I thought this episode not only worked but worked wonderfully! I laughed out loud so many times, including at the end. It is so lovely to have a weekly ticket to Norway and have such a good time visiting!
Thank you!
I believe that the glass panes in the ticket window have a beveled edge.
Agree beveled
Lovely visit with you guys. I love silly. Keep up your great sense of humor!
Yes, a beveled edge.
The history of the train station sounds like a book waiting to be written.
🤗
My thoughts, exactly.
I agree
Carlos, I hope you won't mind me saying that I got the feeling that you were starting to feel a little tired and maybe unwell towards the end of this video. I hope that you feel better soon. Don't try to do too much too soon. You need to take care of yourself.
Your home has good vibes because both of you have beautiful souls and beautiful energy.
Carlos you might not be ‘Mr Muscle’ but can be the ‘Lean mean knitting machine’ 😂😎💕
That is a good way to tackle these strange times!
Haha isn’t it fun to dive into our old favourite books!
“ the house ate” your needle felting supplies 😊 Arne, I think my house eats random items that are missing, too😅
You both just bring so much fun and entertainment and hope that we will get back to normal eventually! Meanwhile, thanks for sharing your adventures with us. Sending love to you both!!
Houses are always hungry!
Hmm, haunted old rail station? Intrigue awaits, Nancy Drew - in a new frock - behind the hidden stair case - investigates!
@@ARNECARLOS Sofas too!
After you finish nancy drew - read the american childrens book “The Borrowers” a family of tiny psople who live in the walls. The ‘borrow’ things from the house for use in their home. Really cute!
The glass in your window is called beveled glass hope I spelled that right
You did spell it correctly! 😀
And it makes a spectrum when the sun shines through it.
You spelt it the American way. The English way has double L.
Thank all of you
@@kathydent2116 And you spelled "spelled" the British way. 😀
Moose, snowshoes, home that used to be the train depot. All so fun to hear you both laugh and making your audience think we are there with you! Lovely video!
Looks like a “bass clef” on the mitts. They’re wonderful!
This is what I thought, too, Debbie. Arne & Carlos, maybe you want to look at the treble clef for future patterns for Trondheim Solistene?
So loved this episode Arne and Carlos. So much history behind the railway station. Rest up Carlos and thank you to you both for making the time to do these wonderful episodes. Take care.
You are welcome!
that was a huge amount of fun guys! thank you! xxxx
Love the quote; 'like the plague or cholera'. It is just wonderful being able to take a bit of time to relax knit and listen to your stories. Thank you so very much.
You are welcome!
I absolutely LOVE your “train station home”!!! It is amazing, just like the two of you together!❤️💙💜💚

Glad you are getting stronger Carlos! I've had both my COVID vaccines and am happy to do my part to reduce the impact of this virus.
It does look like a bass clef! I love the wrist warmers! Arne and Carlos, I love watching you both! I smile and chuckle the whole time! Thank you
🤗
I was a glass glazer until I was medically retired and I never saw such a beautiful window, you are so wise to appreciate it. I have framed many windows but nothing that beautiful. Love your videos they are so peaceful to watch, thank you for them.
Beveled is the word you're looking for - for the glass windows. It's lovely too! I enjoy your broadcasts so much! Love you guys!
However, this podcast was fascinating, and as warm and engaging as always!thank you both!❤️
Thank you for sharing with the world! Beautiful home!
You as well!
It is so much fun to have you two back every week.
Good to be back
I love that the kids played as if selling tickets. So much fun!!
😃
Nancy Drew! I remember going to the library and reading every single one when I was younger. That’s a blast from the past!
😃
Needle felting is so fun! Last year I taught a class on making owls. The beginners did a wonderful job. Have fun, Arne and Carlos.
💖
This is a secret wish of Arne, Carlos, he wants you to be the muscled crochet guy XD Love the mittens and wristwarmers
So nice to see you two playing. I love your laughter.
Thank you!
Thank you for this podcast it is so enjoyable ❤️🇨🇦❤️
Loved seeing you two especially seeing where you live - great to have your company as I re-tie a really old ( I think 1930s ) quilt that I'm "rescuing"
Thank you 😊
I love you sharing history about the old train station. The stories would make an interesting book.
This episode was very entertaining and soothing and the ticket window location was beautiful.
Thank you Arne & Carlos for such a wonderful sit and Knit for a bit I love the window and the history of your home, it looks truly cosy and wonderful, I enjoyed a good laugh as always with you both , your amazing company love to you both XX
Thank you for joining us Meg!
@@ARNECARLOS your most welcome XX
It is so nice to catch up with you guys with your week. The moose square is beautiful! I was seven years old when I first discovered Nancy Drew. My favorite teacher ever introduced me to the series. Then, when I was eight, I found the Hardy Boys series. It fueled my lifelong love of mysteries. Have a wonderful week!
As always joyful happy lovely podcast thank you 🙏
Your beautiful house is eating your stuff!
Lovely episode and beautiful block ‘moose at sunset’ ! I’m still knitting the blocks, so please keep on sharing them!
