I did pretty heavy research for a shower system and there are alternatives that have a larger capacity. Where this excels is in metal construction and in name branding.
Use ours all the time for work to wash off muck from waders and boots. Has enough good high pressure to get the job done. Easy to pressurise w a battery operated handheld electric pump. Have showered with it too, and it gets the job done. Two of us can shower w it b4 having to pressurise again. Shower attachment sucks.
I have a shower head like that but mine works perfectly like it’s suppose to. I bought my road shower from the original inventor before Yakima bought the rights to it. I bought my shower head attachment off Amazon without that rigid pipe.
A couple things to mention that might help you and answer some of a couple of the things I read in the comments. The shower head Yakima sells for the Road Shower is advertised to help conserve water among other things. I get it I don’t think its a good choice either but if you read closely it was designed that way intentionally so that you can conserve water. Yes there are other cheaper tanks out there and I happened to buy one and saved a couple hundred bucks in doing so. People who are commenting on why did you mount the RS under your rack which keeps it from getting hot just need to chill. The water in the tank doesn’t increase in temperature that much when mounted on the top compared to below. In the summer the water will be warm enough even if you mount the RS under the truck. I bought an instant hot heater for about $150.00 to heat the water when needed. Water pressure will always decrease the more you use the shower. I have a cordless Milwaukee air compressor that I keep attached to the shradder valve. A tip for filling the RS with water. You don’t necessarily need to fill the tank through the screw top if you don’t want to. If you take the quick connect of the hose bob and put a hose to hose adapter on the hose bib you can then fill the tank up through the hose bib. How do you know when it’s full?? The pressure relief valve installed on the tank from the factory will release and water will start to come out off it it’s is when you know the tank is full. Just a couple tips from things I learned along the way. If interested in hot water get a insta hot off Amazon or look into the Joolca System which i also have and love because of the many other things it does.
The idea is that the tank is mounted on the roof. As it is black it will heat the water in the sun. Works perfect. Good for dish washing, general cleaning or shower.
The pressure will be the same when I consume 4 gallons of 7 ? Or I have to pressure again to 55 PSI to enjoy the same pressure for the remaining 3 gallons ?
Nice video, thanks! How much usage would you say you can get out of the tank? Trying to decide between 4 gallon vs. 7 gallon. My plan would be using it to rinse mud/dirt off 3-4 bikes after riding. Maybe have some leftover for a shower if needed.
i think they may have done that with the shower head to conserve water. not a lot of water is necessarily needed to actually get yourself clean just enough to wet and rinse

The Mt Bike suspension pumps don't have much volume, they are designed for higher pressure low volume applications. 55 psi is on the low end for a bicycle pump. Only thing is you'd want a longer hose so you don't have to hold both ends in your hand.
