- In our video, we demonstrate how to connect main runners from different suspended ceiling manufacturers using a splicing technique.
This method is perfect for fitters who struggle to identify the existing suspended ceiling grid system and want to avoid the hassle of taking the whole ceiling grid down.

Excellent ❤
Thank u🤗
Thank You, helped me out big time!
Thanks
Pretty Kool thats one way of doing it . But still there's 2 easier ways to do it as well
I just like to cut the main halfway between the slots then slide the new main tab in the same way you made yours but use the factory tab instead.
Another way of doing it, great tip!
nice sir
You should link part 2 to this.

DUDE ONLY CUT 1 OF THE MAINS MEASURE BACK 3 INCHES FROM SLOT CUT IT ////THEN OPEN IT UP
AND THEN PUT THE OTHER MAIN WITH THE TAP INTO IT THERES YOUR 6 INCHES
Why would you do that if you already have the link tabs?
Hi there,
This video is to show how to connect main runners from 2 different manufacturers so the tabs would be different and therefore would not clip into each other.
@@CeilingTilesUKShurdington thanks for the explanation. I did not notice the main runners were different from each other.
Notice the holes? They’re different, so that probably won’t be the only thing you’ll have to hack in there
Please don’t field splice likes this. Now you have a slot right at the joint. Measure back 3 inches from slot use a pocket square mark it, cut it. open the inside up feed new main into cut one. Then you have 6” increments. Squeeze it back together, punch a hole and put pop rivet in it.
Also just throwing up a different type of main your existing tees may not snap in the slot properly. And will have to use tees from other manufacturer. Just use same type of grid if you can and splice it right
I have 6 years experience
Nope you cut one at three inches from the slot than plug in the other main and pop it
Thanks for your tip Roman, there's definitely more than 1 way of doing this - maybe we need to do a video with your version too!
If the center's for the tee bars are out afew mil it will stand out like dogs balls
But why? Too much cutting. Measure 3" from slot, stab it into the other main runner, Bing Bang Boom.
Definitely incorrect, center between the slots, once the tab is created separate the tab and cut one side off so its easy to rivet together once you've opened up other cut main.
Are you scared to cut with your snips or something?
This is not how you do it but anyways
