Because it’s a fitted short with elastic behind, so the extra space we added at the back piece would accommodate for the hips. The back piece is bigger because that’s where the elastic band is.
Thanks Thela for the tutorial, please, my questions are; 1) Is the 10" you used as the crotch applicable for all adults, if not, how do I calculate for that? 2) The 3.5" extension of the lap taken for the back pattern constant for adult?
You’re welcome 😊 1. I usually just measure it on my client, because it’ll differ if they want it to be high waisted(longer) or low waisted(shorter). So I’d say it’s best you just measure depending on the style you’re going for. 2. Yes, the 3.5 is constant for adults.
This was very helpful but unfortunately it didn’t work for me because the pattern I’m following had me sew the sides together and then attach the waistband. If I can’t find a video like that I will remove the stitching from the top of the sides and use your method. I do want to comment on the sound. It was very hard to understand. Your accent was not the problem; it was the quality of the sound itself, which was very muffled. Not sure if you can correct that but it would be good if you could. Thank you for your help!

Hi, please was it tight at the hip part when you tried to put the shorts on?
Hello, no it was fitted, you can see how it looks in the first part of the video.
Nice tutorial. But how did you use the waist measurements on the hip and crotch?
Because it’s a fitted short with elastic behind, so the extra space we added at the back piece would accommodate for the hips. The back piece is bigger because that’s where the elastic band is.
@@Thelafashion oh wow' I will try this method . thank you
