    I am a Fisker One owner and after purchasing the car in Oct. I just got my title last week. I couldn’t trade in this car if I wanted to, not even to a junk yard. Now that I have the title and with the car worth so little I am all in on keeping our car for the long haul. I have 2.1 and our car is running great.I I would love to see the recall issues addressed and now am crossing my fingers that the future w/American Lease and FOA is able to get us owners something to keep our cars running vs nothing at all. When I look at what is currently out there I still think the Ocean is one of the best EV’s out there when you compare features, looks and range. I have no choice but to think positively.

      I just purchased the extreme last week. I still haven't had 2 charge it. I am still at 50%, I work in town so I don't have a big commute. I feel bad 4 the buyers like urself having 2 go thru what u guys did. I got mine with the 2.1 & have had zero issues with the car. By far the best vehicle I have ever owned. I also got it half price! 😂

    Hi Francie and Adam! Nice coverage of the Fisker issues. I like Adam was a Fisker Ocean owner (Extreme). After following Adam’s coverage I finally made the decision to get out of my Ocean. Like many, I had trouble finding anyone who would buy it or take it as a trade. Luckily, Lehigh Valley Honda, who I’ve done business with in the past agreed to take it as a trade-in. Even before they had a Prologue on the lot. This was around May. Long story short I took ownership of my Prologue on July 5th and I love it. I met up with Adam and we compared our Fisker to Prologue experience. Keep an eye out for the video soon. Francie, keep up the good job and look forward to seeing your next podcast!

      Prologue will likely end up being an orphan vehicle as well. Honda had nothing to do with the development of the vehicle and in a few years when it has nothing in common with the other Honda ev lineup, it’ll be a pain to own and repair.

    I bit of similarity to the Bankruptcy of Delorean Motor Company 42 years ago pre-internet.
    9000 cars built. Most owners went through the period of uncertainty for over a decade. A handful of shops continued to support the marquee mostly advertising through an Owners Association Club Magazine. 42 years later the car is very well supported for the most part. I’m a 30 year owner. There are estimated 5 to 6k left.

      I owned 2 DeLoreans. The DeLorean is an ICE car and have very available parts, except body panels. When you see a painted DeLorean it's a red flag that the stainless steel is damaged under. But you can't compare the DeLorean to the Ocean as mostly any mechanic can deal with the drive train and there is no software.

    • @dennisschlieckau8723
      @dennisschlieckau8723 4 месяца назад

      @@DaveDarinI’m glad you owned 2 Deloreans in the past. It seems you’ve been out of the loop for a while. All Body panels are now available NOS or NEW (Left front fender) it only took 40 years. As for Painted Delorean’s, most were dealership painted new cars back in the day. Only a small percentage of known painted cars were done to cover damage.
      As for Fisker owners experience going forward with a low production orphaned vehicle is probably about the same as the original Fisker Karma. I’m sure someone will step in to try and continue support. 11,000 vehicles to provide support is a significant opportunity for someone with the financial ability.
      There’s a cottage support industry for the original Tesla Roadster with less than 2500 made. Granted the Ocean will likely never enjoy a collectible status but you never know since its history has yet to be written.

    If I were an owner of a fisker ocean right now and I plan on keeping it I would be figuring out who makes all of the components of the vehicle because that is who you will have to reach out to for spare and replacement parts everything from water pumps to batteries to electric vehicle motors etc

      @@MTNRanger Love your channel but let me repeat what I have said on replies to others. NYC taxis run 45,000+ miles a year over potholes, snow and ice, on crowded streets, with agressive drivers. That's a HUGE parts replacement demand. I do not see a company, in business to make money with the money coming in from drivable cars, to let their Oceans sit idle allowing a part to go to a private Ocean Owners. Business owners are protective of their bottom line, add to that a NYC business mentality and I see a drain of parts going in one direction, towards American Leasing.

    PARTS PARTS PARTS. Why is no one seeing it this way, via the 3000+ Oceans purchased by American Leasing for taxi services. If no one else considered this I googled how many miles a taxi takes on per year, 45,000+ miles. So, while American Lease might be casting a brighter future for private owners you do not think that they will allow their taxis to sit idle while they help private owners with the parts they need to get their taxis on the road. Add to that NYC driving challenges of bad roads, pot holes, weather, aggressive drivers. Add all that and the more than triple the miles that taxis take on a year and that will put a huge demand on parts and dry up parts that are needed for private owners that will have the priority of going to American Leasing. Wishful thinking that this is positive for the private owner. I see it as the reverse.

    Quick update. All vehicle insurance companies in the UK have pulled Fisker Ocean cover.
    So no matter what AL or FOA do, it's too late for UK Ocean owners now.
    Hope US owners have more joy 👍

    • @DaveDarin
      @DaveDarin 4 месяца назад

      Not sure if UK insurance is similar. We have Liability and Comprehensive. I anticipate that insurance companies will either raise their rates for comprehensive to be prohibitive to buy or cancel comprehensive. Not sure about liability. With, at least, one of the recalls of the Oceans power loss that is a liability risk. So, I could see liability being a risk unless this recall is corrected. So, in the US Ocean Owners might have to settle for Liability coverage only and risk any financial recovery in an accident. But I am not sure how it will play out here.

    It seems like American lease should open up order books before they do a run of parts and let anyone who wants in to buy that way they can increase the economies of scale. And then maybe if they were smart they could create their own marketplace.

    • @DaveDarin
      @DaveDarin 4 месяца назад

      With NYC taxi mileage per taxi per year being 45,000+ miles I can not see American Leasing to be willing to allow parts to go to private Ocean Owners leaving their taxis sitting idle. I do not see this happening. They might be playing nice at this point but I expect parts protection to keep their Oceans running. You don't expect a NYC business to play nice do you?

    American Lease could have an easy 10,000 cars in their taxi fleet. When a company is that big they usually self-insure for collision insurance, so the only question is "how many do we cannibalize for parts each year?" They don't care if no insurer wants that business.
    NYC cab medallions can sell for 500k to one million dollars. Last I heard a few went to auction for more than that.
    So the only way they can make a profit is to run 24x7 and since EV's won't need routine service....this could be a great move for them. Especially since the cabs are all returned to a depot 3x per day. Putting their own chargers will be no problem.

    • @DaveDarin
      @DaveDarin 4 месяца назад

      The average taxi in NYC runs 45,000+ miles a year. That calculates to a huge demand for parts for the NYC Oceans. Don't expect American Leasing to allow a part to slip out of their fingers and go to a privately owned Ocean and allow a NYC taxi to be idle making no money. Ain't going to happen.

    @francie Yes, the "L" in the word "folks" is generally silent. The correct pronunciation is /foʊks/, where the "L" is not pronounced.
    This is similar to other English words where the "L" is silent, such as "walk" and "talk." The reason for the silent "L" in these words often relates to historical changes in pronunciation over time, where certain letters in words became silent due to evolving speech patterns.
