Happy to see you back on you tube and glad that you had a good visit with your family. Loved looking through your ephemera haul. A large book sale a few blocks away is going on this weekend. I will get over there and ask for old books!
First off please do NOT fret about perfection as those of us that follow you see your videos as just that. Do not fret ever. You bring me such joy!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥰🌈🫶🏻
Thank you, Nola. It was a very good trip. Pretty much ate my body weight in boiled peanuts! Did not get the weather, though. Since when is southern Mississippi that cold?
Always great to see a new video from you, salivate over your finds, learn new things and know what to look for in the future! And did I say salivate over your finds? 😂❤️🥰
Glad you’re back! Missed you! Happy that you had a good visit with your family. Thanks for sharing these fabulous finds!! The photo albums are so awesome!! Can’t wait to see how you use them. And thanks for the printables!
Katie, it is my real pleasure. I couldn't NOT share some of my good luck. As for using them I have to sit with them a little while and see if they "talk" to me. But the little card in the little envelope is definitely going into some pocket on some page somewhere.
Kelly thank you so much for this mini course in vintage paper and indentures! I am always in awe of your finds! Always perfectly torn papers and gorgeous writing! Welcome back to the Tube and hope you had a great visit back home!!!
Thank you, Violet. It has been a weird and bumpy ride back in but so far so good and it really helps to find kind and encouraging words like these. (I got really lucky with those indentures and can't stop staring at them. 😺)
You are so lucky! our thrift shops in my town like the Goodwill would have thrown those photo albums in the dumpster along with the photos! I was a sorter and a Prices're at our local Goodwill and would argue about some of the thing the tasted away! Here in the USA!
Hi Kathy, oh believe me I had to train my second hand book shop over and over, trying to convince them that I did want them to save that "rubbish" for me. Here is a video I made about finding old paper in a new country if you want any pointers. (A sorter for Goodwill! Did you find any treasure?) ruclips.net/video/MC7gd40F30s/видео.html&pp=ygUpaG93IHRvIGZpbmQgb2xkIHBhcGVyIGJvb2sgYW5kIHBhcGVyIGFydHM%3D
I just went through your free printables and downloaded many. I want to thank you very much for sharing your wonderful finds with us. I just use them for personal things and journals. They are beautiful. 😊
Hi Karen, my apologies for the late reply. I am so delighted that you found the printables and are using them in your own work. It's fun to pass some of the good stuff forward. Kelly
I also heard that another reason/s for the serious photo looks were also because saving up your money for a photo was a BIG deal for many people and it was a solemn occasion, not unlike posing for a painted portrait and they wanted to look serious and elegant. Another photo aficionado told me they often didn't smile, especially the older folks, because their teeth were in such poor condition.
Oh, and glad you're back. Missed you. I also get the "hard to get back on the horse" thing too about making videos when I haven't made one in a while. Many tend to end up deleted. ~~C.
Hi there old friend! We've missed you, and I hope you had a great time back visiting family! You are not only SO fortunate to have found these albums, but quite a lot of tin types, which I just love, and those intricate floral painted pages. I've never, ever seen anything like that prior in any photo books! I also just always love and appreciate your histories with vintage papers (the scalloped edges, stamps, types of papers, etc) Thanks Kelly, your the best.
I enjoy all your videos! My daughter lives in Alabama and I live in North Carolina. We are South Carolina girls, though!!! Glad you enjoyed your family visit!
So very happy you had a wonderful trip, and (selfishly) quite happy to see your video. As informative as usual and very drool worthy! That 1600’s paper… wow!!! 🖤 Gilly
Hi MaryEllen. Thanks for touching base. You kjow, I am surrounded by these pieces all of the time and sometimes I am still slack-jawed by their beauty, mystery, and stories.
Hi Chris. I am almost jealous of myself and have no idea how to explain why. I am definitely grateful and so, so happy to have found these beauties. I walked in at the moment they were going on the shelf for sale and I don't believe in accidents! Kelly
I love your treasures, and stories, and ink stained digit. We are you’re friends, and fellow lovers of sexy and unsexy calligraphy, please, remember that when you suddenly feel shy about filming after a recess. Glad your trip home went well, and that you are home now. There’s no place like home 🤍🤍🤍. Not to mention the fabulous history lessons you share with us Kelly 🤍🤍🤍😊
Thanks for your thoughtful message, Cheryl. It is very good to be home but my visit went much better than I expected. Also, I bought four hats, one with a dragonfly on it so there's that, too. Kelly
Gee I wish they made photo albums like that now with the beautiful floral framing. Thanks for sharing the indentures from the 1700s and the history lesson about the scalloped security edge and metal pieces in the stamps. I would’ve thought the scallops were just for decoration! Thanks Kelly, great video, as always.
Hi Sandy. I do love paper with a story. I only found out about the scallops last year and like you thought they were just whimsical and pretty. Who knew?
Oh, Kelly, never fear, whatever you show us on RUclips is more than "good enough"!! I get excited when I see a notice for a new video from you. Loved learning about the animal fats used in making paper for the Indentures. Very interesting.
Hello Theresa. Where do you live? I was raised in Neshoba County but went to high school on the coast and then college at USM. I hope you have a creative week! Kelly
@@BookandPaperArts Hey, I grew up in Clarksdale and now live right outside Grenada. I have a new puppy so my creative urges get sidetracked pretty easily these days LOL. She’s a fun one so we’re just doing the best we can. I hope to get her trained enough in next couple of weeks that I can do some fun things at the craft table. Have a great week!!
Kelly! I want the lady in the hat holding flowers.... She showed up very earlier in your video. Is she for sale, or is her image for sale? Please let me know. Also what fabulous finds you have!!
Hi Simone, if you shoot me a time-stamp so I can figure out the exact one I will find it and put your name on it and/or make a scan for you. Happy to do it! Kelly
The things we learn from you! I loved that piece of paper cut in a way in which the other part would have to match perfectly! They didn’t have the technology we have today, but they managed to do things too. I always feel a bit sad though to see the photos. I start wondering who abandoned them, who couldn’t keep them, who didn’t want them… I am glad you got them and will make beautiful things with them 🩷🩵❤️💙🧡💜💛🖤🤎💚🩶🤍
Welcome back and I love watching your videos, thankyou for sharing your wonderful videos xx
Thank you, Kerry and thank you for touching base. It is truly appreciated. Kelly
Thank you for the interesting facts about preventing fraud, and vellum and parchment!
Hi Rae Lynn. I do love paper that has a story and even better, a mystery.
Welcome back! Nice to see your video today. Very interesting info about the old papers!
Thank you, Kimberly. It is good to be back and what a day, finding two albums in one go. Kelly

Wow! I learned so much about old documents! Great video and what lovely finds! And thank you for the free scans!
Enjoyed watching~ so interesting. Such treasures. Thank you for the scans. Best wishes~ Valerie.
Thank you, Valerie. It was a good haul and I am still beaming at it all.
Beautiful finds --- love the picture albums. The very old indenture pages are fascinating.
Thanks bunches. The old handwriting is amazing.
