My last show was the last show, Soldier Field, and I made the Seattle run. Will never forget that Liberty. Had a profound life changing experience during that show and the line in Liberty capped it....going to find my own way home. I still remember it like it was yesterday.
There are so many little parts in this song that tell a story and they speak to me. Things that make me think of life on the road selling acid to eat n make it to the next show and realizing that your home is in your heart and its where you make it. We have the right to chop trees down,we have these freedoms to be who we want.-a bird with a tear,a sun looking for shade, and a river going up hill. And if those men,and women weren't dying for our right to love we wouldn't be a bird crying for our liberty.
well if you study how the Grateful Dead were subverted by the TAVISTOCK INSTITUTE....you might think and feel a bit differently...do a web search "grateful dead tavistock" and dig a bit
Performed in 94' sixteen years later posted here on RUclips , twelve years later we're still dropping by to listen . Who would have thought in 2010 that we would still be listening to this here , who would have thought in 1994 that this would be posted here ? If Jerry were still alive today , what would he be singing about , what would he write ? If Jerry came back here today does anyone think for a second that he would recognize the place , I like to think he'd hitch a ride to some other dimension and most likely tune out and get lost in his own music . If jerry were here today , he would probably want to talk with me about my avatar LOL. Well CHEERS JERRY CHEERS for sure 💨💨💨
I would have liked the new album. This song and Phantom ships on phantom something. Long live the counterculture that rivaled what people seek from Monks.
Yet people are hype over Phish song "Free" ..I fnd it hard to get down to any phish song once you've heard the depth of Hunter and Barlow with melodical genius of Garcia and Weir.....sorry, Phish
Best lyricist and musician of the second half of the 20th century. They'll be playing Garcia and Hunters songs a hundred years from now.
Agree.
Can be listened to over & over, appreciated like any incredible unique
Work of Art.
The last song I ever saw them play (Seattle 95 right at the front). Friggin love this song. Jerry found his own way home.
Same here bro. My last was Highgate VT.

One of the most upbeat dead songs, with the most awesome lyrics!!! Miss you Jerr 🐻, there will never be anything close to your talent 😓
Robert Hunter writes the best songs ever!

Rest In Peace Robert hunter. No one will ever be able to change the world the way you and Jerry did
As one might expect from a descendent of Robert Burns.
Possibly with the exception of John Barlow and Bob Weir

Amen.
They’re together again, who knows what they’re up to now!
Listen.........
His given name was Robert Burns, same as Scotland's national poet, who wrote Auld Lang Syne. I think the same soul.
I was only a month old when they played this show. If I had the world to give I would give it just to see Jerry play just once. RIP
dude, you are a good soul to type that like that. keep the torch of liberty fired up and bright light
You get it.....NFA 💀💕

One band being good does not discredit another’s prowess.

Sad and inspirational at the same
Chapel Hill was epic!!
Like a cold hammer and I mixture of mixed glowing metal , it's all timing to place some meaning to a war time zone to smash that flat
This should be Ron Paul's anthem.. Peace
