I remember 11 yers ago I would watch this video during my lunch break at work in the break room as inspiration to one day be a dj .. it’s 2020 now and I no longer work at that call center where I would view this video but I am a professional dj now at local clubs and have opened for many events for the last 10 years. ^ That is so overly dramatic. Trance is very much still alive. You might not get AvB/Tiesto making Trance anymore, but there's lots of artists that still produce it. Trance will never die. Techno did though... so I dunno.

You should take a look about what electronic music became due to the marketing of it in 95-2000, when majors realised that they could make fucking money with shitty hits. So it lost his superb by being mainstream music played everywhere. In Belgium, that was the "Newbeat" in the 90's.
I wish TIESTO can goes back to aforementioned trance and progressive-house era from 1997-2008. He was the trance master back then and everybody want to like him!

Then he blends that amazing keyboard piece from Small Town Boy (by same artist). he adds so much to the core pieces. That's why I'm blown away. Go listen to originals and come back for a fuller appreciation of what Tiesto is doing.The originals were from early eighties. Tiesto rocks in this video but his audience is missing something.

He's said plenty of times that he got tired of being pigeonholed into a single genre. Which I completely agree with. As a music producer and DJ myself, I could not imagine making the same exact genre for 15+ years. Some people simply want to explore new musical genres. His album, Kaleidoscope, was his first experimental album when he left trance. The music on that album was not super popular at that time, so I doubt he left solely for popularity and money. I will say I'm surprised he hasn't made a few new trance songs here and there. But I am not surprised that he has left the trance scene.
totally agree with you! Kaleidoscope was a good one and it felt like it was the transition album. We would love it if he does a trance track here and then now, like AVB, who also seems to be forced towards EDM but still somehow tries and keeps trance music alive although it feels like he might one day just stop completely too, hopefully he won't!
