It really amazes me to see how different it is in the USA v's UK for back to school stuff. Ok so ours have some similar stuff like the pens, pencils, folders and paper, bags and lunch bags its the clothes and shoes, sports wear and trainers that really are different, our kids have to wear uniforms, proper leather shoes and even the PE gear is specific to each school, it costs a fortune for secondary school age kids its on average per child its around £500 for everything, infant's and primary kids is usually a little cheaper about £200 but it's a nightmare time of the year.
Same here in Australia it's the uniform as you said the leather shoes/blazer/shirt/tie/skirt/grey pants etc that's the killer as it's specific to each school and enforced!!
I absolutely love Luna, I call her Luna the talking cat . I'm so allergic to cats but I love them. I know so many people who hate cats. Why aren't they allergic to cats? Makes sense to me. When I was younger I was on allergy shots for my allergies which were severe. My doctor would ask me every year at the start of new regime if I still had my cat? (Which was a stray that I fell in love with, he lived for 18 years.) I would always answer yes and he would tell me "someday you'll be very sorry" . Why the allergy shots? At least I could tolerate him then. I loved him soo much! Such a good boy. Now I'm so much more allergic than ever. I'm so glad I had allergy shots all those years and that my parents paid for. I'm 67 years old and there was no insurance that paid for that. Thanks mom and dad!

Kimmie, from She's In Her Apron has a lot of make-ahead breakfast and lunch ideas. She has 4 kids, 2 still in school. I've done a lot of her recipes and they are amazing. I only had the one child, but I remember his first day of school. He waved at me as he got on the bus and I spent the whole day crying. I know I sound like a big baby but man I hated him growing up so fast.

Most of the stores down here have lists of the supplies needed available in the stores for back to school. It is super convenient when you forget your list.
I have seen those lists but our school has very specific things for each grade level and then the kids got additional lists once they went to school. Lot's of specific things, my head was kind of spinning. It's all taken care of now, thank goodness. Thanks for watching!

Have a great back to school!!! It’s a problem here in Louisville, Ky not enough bus drivers! Luckily I only have 1 left in school. I’m able to drop him off in the morning but he has to wait for a second run bus in the afternoon.

A lovely video Lauren. Things are very expensive this year with inflation the way it is but I'm thankful I can afford to buy what I need. I know a lot of people are struggling with the basics, food and heating etc. We have a new Prime Minister today so hopefully she'll have something in place for those in need. with the cutting try putting an object ( like a cutting board) at the height that you want to cut ( on both sides) and then you will have even cuts I learned about this when I was watching baking shows for how to cut level cakes. hope this helps
Where I am in south Louisiana, kids were simple uniforms. Just navy or khaki bottoms and polo shirts or specific colors- but as a mom and a teacher- I appreciate uniforms immensely! As for Old Navy- I only shop there when there’s a sale or else I shop the online clearance! (PS- extra crayons and Ticonderoga pencils are on every teacher list! And totally agree with the purple glue stick ban.) School bus driver shortage happening here too- along with a teacher shortage.

That busing situation is crazy! Wish you the best sorting a car pool solution. Time, gas, the lines at school! I live near a high school. Between the buses, the parents And the students that drive, 45 minute jams at start and end of school day. And, that is with police direction! Good luck! 😉
Exciting time! Do you have a office supply store there, like Office Depot? If you do, they probably have the school supplies, like the regular glue sticks, that you still need. If nothing else, you could call and ask. I hope Everett loves kindergarten!

Our Target the closet one to me is 45 minutes away in Tennessee didn’t get a lot of items in from the beginning for the school products! Walmart which the closet is about 10 minutes away didn’t either! My 15 year old niece I had to order a lot of her stuff online ! My mom, my husband and I and of course my sister divide her school supplies she’s also a softball player she’s in one act play she does gymnastics so there’s a lot of different things she has to have she needed new leotards she needed more notebooks than normal pencils pens etc. so we help out! She is in high school (9) but I feel it was a lot more then the other school supplies before!🤷🏻♀️

I'll miss not seeing Everett as much, but I'm so happy for his new chapter in life. Lauren, I'm beginning to think you somehow know whenever I'm taking a tea break. On the days you post, there'll be no video, but the moment I sit down with my cup of tea... BINGO... there's a video. Oh, btw, I finally bought a tea kettle from the company you got yours. I love it. Perfect for making tea... and soon, hot cocoa. Why didn't I do this sooner. Those ice cream flavors are both yummy and interesting. Real Vanilla ice cream is a safe go-to. The Basil Honey Walnut sounds yummy, as does the AK Birch Almond (the only thing that could make it better is to add some coconut and chocolate chunks or swirl). Waffle cones are a must and that toasted marshmallow looks mmmm mmmm good. Give Luna an ear scratch for me. Everytime she makes an appearance, you'll find our Dakota and Ash looking at the TV, especially if she meows. They always meow back. Even our dog, Maggie, joins in at times. No meowing, but perhaps a whimper or bark. We have a 65" screen, so she looks life size... plus. Take care and Yah's Blessings to you and your family always.

I have been looking at the shoes. I have mobility issues so thought they would help. The price is little so just trying to save on my SS some how. On driving to school on older kids I didn't get in line just dropped off in front of school and one dropped off on side parking lot. I go to school look around and see if you can find a safe place. I only do my older. My grandson school even though little I found a empty parking lot I park and walk. It might help with time. Great idea trying to carpool kids. Have a great school year. Costco hauls will be different but you might get out quicker. Have a blessed dat from Texas.
I’m so glad my kids are grown. The school supplies here are ridiculous. Kleenex, paper towels, toilet paper. Hand soap hand sanitizer. Plus all the paper certain folders, markers , pens pencils. Ease markers and etc

You can usually get the same items from Old Navy online at a sale price even if not on sale in store. Weird same company same item you would think it would be the same. Not sure what the shipping to AK is like withtjem though.

They go to a public school which has no religion involved at all. We read scriptures every morning as a family and they go to Sunday school on Sundays.

How firm are the backs of the kisik shoes? My grandson needs tennis shoes with a firm back to help keep his ankle from rolling. I have thought about how easy those shoes would be for him (he is autistic and developmentally delayed) but not sure if they would be good for his ankles.
They would 100% be worth a try, they are very easy to return if they don't work! We had to return 2 pairs to order new sizes and it was so easy. I think the backs are GREAT but you would need to try them out. I really mean it, they have been fantastic for the boys!
I believe the bus issue is a problem all over the US. My grandson's bus is sitting 4-5 to a seat. His ride home last year was 45 minutes at the longest. This year its 2 hours and I5 minutes. It just blows my mind. How are people paying their bills with no one wanting to work. I don't get it. I was raised it is my responsibility to care and provide for my children. We have several.sites here where people can go to ask for help. The number of food banks has tripled. I have noticed that its the same ones over and over asking for "help". I worked two to three jobs to make sure my boys were taken care of. This has truly turned into a give me or you owe me world. As for me, I will make sure mine is provided for.

thankfully when me kids in elementary the busses pick up 2-3stops on certain streets n since I have 4 in elementary all their friends came to our house every morning so like 15 kids so bus driver said ok your house is the new stop n my youngest was in kinder n I watched 2 of her classmates n they being kindergarten got dropped off at home lucky me . then couple years later they moved stop to outside housing track n bout a block half away so since I was still home someday we'd just walk to school me kids n the dogs it was bout 1/2 -3/4a mile there then back. but middle n has that's in the middle of desert bout 2.5 3.0 miles they took bus or I took them always have a had full
I don't mind driving them, it just takes a lot of time and because everyone is having to drive, there are a ton of cars. I will be relieved when our 3 weeks of busses rolls around. Hope you have a wonderful day!
Corn is bad for cats. If those cat treats have corn in it don't feed it to Luna it will constipate her. I bought Meow Mix cat food and within 2 hrs one of my cats passed away instantly.

Yeah my mom's the school bus driver in Kansas yeah everybody sure on bus drivers. Sometimes she has to take kids to school and then do another route and the kids are late but when you have no bus drivers and they anchor generations not going into bus drivers and truck drivers and that kind of stuff. That's like I work for Kroger and we have a hard time even getting truck drivers to bring merchandise because a lot of the younger generations are not going into that field

Exciting time! Do you have a office supply store there, like Office Depot? If you do, they probably have the school supplies, like the regular glue sticks, that you still need. If nothing else, you could call and ask. I hope Everett loves kindergarten!

School started in August where I live.
Our Target the closet one to me is 45 minutes away in Tennessee didn’t get a lot of items in from the beginning for the school products! Walmart which the closet is about 10 minutes away didn’t either! My 15 year old niece I had to order a lot of her stuff online ! My mom, my husband and I and of course my sister divide her school supplies she’s also a softball player she’s in one act play she does gymnastics so there’s a lot of different things she has to have she needed new leotards she needed more notebooks than normal pencils pens etc. so we help out! She is in high school (9) but I feel it was a lot more then the other school supplies before!🤷🏻♀️

Lauren, I'm beginning to think you somehow know whenever I'm taking a tea break. On the days you post, there'll be no video, but the moment I sit down with my cup of tea... BINGO... there's a video. Oh, btw, I finally bought a tea kettle from the company you got yours. I love it. Perfect for making tea... and soon, hot cocoa. Why didn't I do this sooner.
Those ice cream flavors are both yummy and interesting. Real Vanilla ice cream is a safe go-to. The Basil Honey Walnut sounds yummy, as does the AK Birch Almond (the only thing that could make it better is to add some coconut and chocolate chunks or swirl). Waffle cones are a must and that toasted marshmallow looks mmmm mmmm good.
Give Luna an ear scratch for me. Everytime she makes an appearance, you'll find our Dakota and Ash looking at the TV, especially if she meows. They always meow back. Even our dog, Maggie, joins in at times. No meowing, but perhaps a whimper or bark. We have a 65" screen, so she looks life size... plus.

I have been looking at the shoes. I have mobility issues so thought they would help. The price is little so just trying to save on my SS some how. On driving to school on older kids I didn't get in line just dropped off in front of school and one dropped off on side parking lot. I go to school look around and see if you can find a safe place. I only do my older. My grandson school even though little I found a empty parking lot I park and walk. It might help with time. Great idea trying to carpool kids. Have a great school year. Costco hauls will be different but you might get out quicker. Have a blessed dat from Texas.

I’m so glad my kids are grown. The school supplies here are ridiculous. Kleenex, paper towels, toilet paper. Hand soap hand sanitizer. Plus all the paper certain folders, markers , pens pencils. Ease markers and etc
It goes on and on!! They all came home with additional lists after the first day of school!!

You can usually get the same items from Old Navy online at a sale price even if not on sale in store. Weird same company same item you would think it would be the same. Not sure what the shipping to AK is like withtjem though.

They go to a public school which has no religion involved at all. We read scriptures every morning as a family and they go to Sunday school on Sundays.

How firm are the backs of the kisik shoes? My grandson needs tennis shoes with a firm back to help keep his ankle from rolling. I have thought about how easy those shoes would be for him (he is autistic and developmentally delayed) but not sure if they would be good for his ankles.
They would 100% be worth a try, they are very easy to return if they don't work! We had to return 2 pairs to order new sizes and it was so easy. I think the backs are GREAT but you would need to try them out. I really mean it, they have been fantastic for the boys!

I believe the bus issue is a problem all over the US. My grandson's bus is sitting 4-5 to a seat. His ride home last year was 45 minutes at the longest. This year its 2 hours and I5 minutes. It just blows my mind.
How are people paying their bills with no one wanting to work. I don't get it. I was raised it is my responsibility to care and provide for my children. We have several.sites here where people can go to ask for help. The number of food banks has tripled. I have noticed that its the same ones over and over asking for "help". I worked two to three jobs to make sure my boys were taken care of. This has truly turned into a give me or you owe me world. As for me, I will make sure mine is provided for.

thankfully when me kids in elementary the busses pick up 2-3stops on certain streets n since I have 4 in elementary all their friends came to our house every morning so like 15 kids so bus driver said ok your house is the new stop n my youngest was in kinder n I watched 2 of her classmates n they being kindergarten got dropped off at home lucky me . then couple years later they moved stop to outside housing track n bout a block half away so since I was still home someday we'd just walk to school me kids n the dogs it was bout 1/2 -3/4a mile there then back. but middle n has that's in the middle of desert bout 2.5 3.0 miles they took bus or I took them always have a had full
I don't mind driving them, it just takes a lot of time and because everyone is having to drive, there are a ton of cars. I will be relieved when our 3 weeks of busses rolls around. Hope you have a wonderful day!

Corn is bad for cats. If those cat treats have corn in it don't feed it to Luna it will constipate her. I bought Meow Mix cat food and within 2 hrs one of my cats passed away instantly.

Yeah my mom's the school bus driver in Kansas yeah everybody sure on bus drivers. Sometimes she has to take kids to school and then do another route and the kids are late but when you have no bus drivers and they anchor generations not going into bus drivers and truck drivers and that kind of stuff. That's like I work for Kroger and we have a hard time even getting truck drivers to bring merchandise because a lot of the younger generations are not going into that field
