  • Today, I'm testing out different cut settings in Silhouette Studio to see if they work well with the Cameo 5, or if they need some adjustments here and there. I'll be working with cardstock and vinyl, and making and adorable candy dome card as well.
    Come and see for yourself how well the machine does with the original settings! I think you'll be surprised.
    The file that I used came from Creative Fabrica. You can find that here ⬇️

    The transfer tape that I mentioned can be found here ⬇️

    Thanks for such an informative video. I've just got my hands on the Cameo 5. It's my first cutter... I had a go with the mat that came with it, but it seemed way too sticky, I struggled to take the protective sheet off and then the piece of copy paper that I used to make the first cut curled up so much! The tip about turning the mat over, and then rolling it of will really help. I've got some other mats too, so I'll give those a try and I'm keen to give matless cutting a go too, along with rolled vinyl.

    • @silhouettesuccess
      @silhouettesuccess  9 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for watching! If your mat is too sticky, stick it to your shirt a couple of times. A bit of lint will stick to it and make it just right.

      @@silhouettesuccess Thanks for the tip. I purchased some deTAPE mats and just had a go with the light tack version and that worked brilliant. The copy paper peeled off nicely without curling up.
      I'm now struggling to get it to connect via USB when I use Silhouette Connect, but it is working fine when I use Silhouette Studio? It's all a learning experience for sure! 🙂

    I got so frustrated with my Cameo blade settings, that I bought a Scan n Cut with true auto blade technology. My Cameo is about 8 years old. I like what I am seeing with the Cameo 5.

    This is amazing! I wish Silhoutte will update their tutorial for the Studio with the latest Cameo 5. I had a Cricut and just bought a cameo 5. tried my first print and cut. Supposedly only need 3 sheets, I ended up printing another 2 as the cut went haywire or the cut alignment was not there. Out of the 3 sheets completed, I only am satisfied with one. Help! The software is not as clear as I expected, how do I even do a kisscut if i want to.

      The software is a lot different than Design Space, and it will take a while to adjust. I switched from Cricut, as well. I do have some videos on stickers. Did you see them?

    Hi! I have the Cameo 5 Plus. Can i get your advice? Two issues: When doing a test cut, it cuts outside of the cut area on the upper left notch on the part where there is no tack on the mat. Second issue, when I use my old portrait cutting mats w the cameo plus 5, even with changing the mat to either of the portrait options, they cut outside of the mat (as if i'm Loading Media instead of Loading Cutting Mat). The only solution I can find right now is to change the mat to a Cameo Plus mat, even if i'm using a Portrait mat, and that seems to work.

    • @silhouettesuccess

      Because three main pieces were cut out of cardstock, the embellishments were cut from adhesive vinyl. I'm not a big fan of gluing the little pieces. 😅

    Hello, I have a problem with re-cutting again when I turn off Bluetooth or disconnect the cable because I have another device, Cameo 4. I want it to work at the same time, knowing that the program was last upgraded to Business Edition.

    • @silhouettesuccess
      @silhouettesuccess  9 месяцев назад +1

      You shouldn't need to disconnect. There's a little symbol all the way at the bottom of the screen that looks like a Cameo. If you click on that, you can see all of the machines that you have connected. Choose which one you want to send the job to. You can name your machines to make it easier to tell them apart.

      @@silhouettesuccess Yes, I know that, but the new addition to the Cameo 5 device, from the touch screen, re-works like the Cameo 2, I cannot work with it. It must be connected unlike the Cameo 2.

    The truth is it’s junk. Just my personal experience. It’s been a week and it’s still sitting here. Silhouette won’t respond to emails, documention has never been updat3d from Cameo 4 to 5, Bluetooth will not connect and get this - it’s not onboard WiFi - it’s a dongle. Even after buying two more on my own it still fails to connect. All my other 32 devices, no problem. You’ll notice how many videos like this on RUclips there are like this and it’s mainly because the company has failed to support its own product via well, support documentation. After three emails and two requesting a refund a week ago I have yet to hear a peep out of them.

    • @silhouettesuccess
      @silhouettesuccess  6 месяцев назад

      I'm sorry to hear about your negative experience with the Silhouette. It's frustrating when a product doesn't live up to expectations, especially when the company's support is lacking. Hopefully, they will respond to your emails soon and resolve the issues you're facing. Unfortunately, this seems to be the new norm in the craft machine industry. I left Cricut and moved to Silhouette years ago because of their customer service reputation.

      Oh no! What issues are you having?? I might not be able to solve the problems, but I try to understand everyone's experience so that I can point users to customer service if needed. I haven't had any problems with mine, so I can't let people know of specific issues without input like yours.

      @@silhouettesuccess Oh, the manufacturer itself is great!
      I used Cameo 4 for 2,5 years and never had any problems.
      I thought I'd sell the old horse and jump on the new one. With all the new features, I just thought WOW
      That was the biggest mistake.
      Cameo 5 is a plastic-breaking disease.
      Many things are not well thought out and seem more like a test version.
      2 times small parts are broken (roll holder) roll guide or what are they called) Cuts badly out of nowhere or leaves edges over. Partly sporadic problems that greet you from time to time and then disappear.
      So I've had it in the house 3 times, and I'm fed up with it.
      I'll buy the old Cameo 4 and wait until Cameo 5 is fully developed or Cameo 6 comes out.

      @silhouettesuccess  3 месяца назад

      @@fitramitra847 I've heard quite a few people say that the rollers have broken. I almost always cut with a mat, so I don't move them too often. I'll be extra careful, though. My Cameo 4 is still running like a champ, and I'm getting a like new cameo 3 this evening. I'll always have a backup. 😅
