Welded rail technology / Why is it good on your iSUP?

The term welded rails is used in relation to the manufacturing process of an iSUP. It is a method where the 2 layers of fabric on the rails of the board are heated and melted together instead of the conventional gluing process more commonly used in the industry. Starboard claim they are the pioneers of the most advanced and reliable rail welding technology. And say this is what makes their boards better than other boards on the market. I used to be a big supporter of Starboard until my Double-chamber touring inflatable literally blew up this past summer. The seam between the inner and outer chamber blew up. I wasn't in the water thank goodness. I just finished inflating it. Only inflated it to 15psi. Not a good investment since I only got 3 years of use from it.

I mistreat two welded boards since 3 yaers paddling with my dogs (Starboard Zen 11.2x31 and 10.8x33). I carry the boards inflated on the roof of the car also in summer. They lost a bit of color... but are still perfect! Starboard welded boards are not inexpensive, but I can tell I got my money's worth.
