Yes and no. From an engineering standpoint if there are cast parts in your gun then there would be a chance of breaking after excessive use. Excessive force and heat in weaker parts of the metal can get micro fractures that can get worse over time until breaking. I do not like cast parts in my guns, I replace them with machined steel when I can.
My Sig P320 had a cast trigger, and I didn't know until a piece of it literally broke off at the range under normal firing conditions. Gun had less than 100 rounds in it. Bought a flat faced trigger, then after they sent it back from the recall it had a different OEM trigger in it which I now like the most.

Moral of the story - The RIA really isn't cheap or a budget gun, it seems to be priced just right for what it does. A lot of other "Budget" shotguns perform just as well. Sucky magazines seem to be the most common problems, but not necessarily the actual gun components.
And for those truly cheap guns that are mechanically crappy (either via design flaws or poor manufacturing/materials), their reputations seem to spread quickly enough thanks to RUclips and other forums that people will hopefully avoid them.
So, considering its pretty well established performance, I don't consider the RIA a "Budget" or "Bargain" shotgun, I use it as a base as to what a functional AR style shotgun SHOULD cost.
Thus, I suspect that the considerably more expensive options, with almost identical performance, are often just way overpriced. Or, like any other product, perhaps bagging a premium price based solely on their name/brand/reputation of their other products. Eventually, you pass a point where you're paying for actual quality, and then you're just paying a lot of extra money for a logo. That's just my humble opinion after 35yrs of shooting though.
    Either way, good video.

I do think RIA has cut some corners on some of their firearms and released them too early knowing it has design flaws such as their Bullpup. A lot of jamming issues.I do like my VR60 and you just have break it in. I think the VR80 barrel is too damn heavy, especially if you have to walk far in the woods on a hunt. I also hear from gunsmiths that they are a pain to fix as well.

I crimp finish my fold crimps with Gaep or OMV and sometimes the hornady 366 bevel crimp to put a round edge on the shells for pump or semi auto loaders. I roll crimp some too. Trimming down the hull to roll crimp helps ejection of the shell specially with Max payload and powder charge shells that may stretch the hull a bit more if fold crimped. I noticed the shells have to be carefully loaded in the mags or you get stove pipes and failures to feed. It might stack in the mag but it wouldn't catch the feed lip properly. Also you can increase reliability with newer ones by compressing the the spring for a couple of days with the bolt locked back. Or shoot a few hundred rounds to break it in.

I love mine and haven't had any issues. Only issue I've had is with the 19 round mags, they seem to have a catch about half way so the round does make it to the top fast enough. But, take the bottom half off and make it a 9 round and it works perfect. I'm a big Rock Island fan. I own several of their 1911's from 22 mag to 45, and I also have the M5 pump 12 gauge. People consider them budget, but honestly they're extremely reliable and are made with good parts. I've not had an issue out of any of my Rock Island gun's, not even the 22 mag which I read horrible reviews about. I have a VR60 and love it. When you first buy it, it has a break-in process using heavy long brass shells to break in the spring which is a heavy spring and requires it to be softened with this break-in period OR you can leave the bolt locked back compressing the spring for a few weeks and softened the spring up that way. The VR60 also has different load type pistons to use depending on which ammo you use from heavy to light. Once you do the break-in process and know your gun on how to run it with the different ammo pistons, this shotgun is awesome and runs flawlessly, I have had no issues with it. It also comes with 3 different barrel chokes, cylinder, modified and full choke. It also has rails on it for excessories, I installed a tactical flashlight and handle on bottom, a sling and thats it. I would recommend this shotgun to anyone for use with home defense, target practices and even hunting. It's a nice shotgun.

My thoughts are why is it when a gun, no matter the brand, is considered low end but performs well its always compared to a gun three times the price? What exactly will the more expensive gun do, this one didn't? Cost more? I mean this one cycled fine all except the one misfeed. And does it really matter that the charging handle didn't always lock back? That could be due to the casings or that it hasn't been broken in yet. It didn't blow up in your face, so that's a plus right?

Most of these cheap Turkish shotguns are just clones of other, more established systems. So, in theory, they should be mostly fine, but Rock Island Armory isn't going to have the same quality control that Izhmash or whoever will have making the real deal.
When you look into threads on these, you'll see some guys saying that theirs have never misfed and they have like a trillion rounds through them and they run like a sewing machine. Then you'll see a bunch of other guys who will say they can't get through a full magazine, immediate parts failures, bad customer service etc.
If you buy a $1,500 M4, you're getting a good gun that you know is going to work out of the box. With these cheap guns, however, it's a gamble. You could get something that works awesome, or you could get a lemon so bad you might as well have set $600 on fire.
On top of that, a lot of these guns are out-of-spec to what they're cloning, so you may or may not be able to use high quality aftermarket parts if something breaks or needs improvement.
You're also lacking refinement. Go to your local gun shop and handle one of these. Try holding the gun and dry firing it. You'll notice quickly that they have a not-great trigger, and the furniture feels toy quality.
Now, I know a lot of people run these sorts of things in open division 3 gun and have a lot of luck. I'm not knocking them. They are cool guns and they can be really useful, but you get what you pay for.

Glad to see a lefty shooting this, I found out the hard way that not all shells eject away from a lefty’s face or neck.

I had a rock island 1911 for awhile. It was decent. For the price I have no complaints. This is a cool looking piece.

Now... let’s tak about that mile long stock. What if I’m looking for a nice short 12” length of pull? Can I get a stock for that system shorter than factory 1/4 mile lop?

    “Rock Island”
Wait, I’ve heard that name before but where?
“I’m back at the Rock Island auction house”

Oh yes. They are in fact a gun maker out in the Philippines and it seems like they really do make some pretty decent products.

I like it in the slowmo of the watermelon shots where you see the shell fly through the camera shot! Nice video

This is why braces were made, so you can shot still if your wrist is sore or injured from too much target 🎯 shooting. So ATF they do have a legit job to do.

I have one and love it. Mine came with 2 gas blocks, 1 for light loads and 1 for mag loads. That might be your problem.
