only sometimes. especially if you have something besides the laptop in the laptop side, like a slim notebook it will strain and open more easily. mine slipped out and cracked a glass top just because i was holding the case *slightly* askew.

I like Moft products, but I HATE the lack of instructions for their products. Take for instance the makers of this vidieo: their is NO WAY of understanding how to fold these damn things in this 2 minute video. I've had this product for over 2 years and never used other than just as a regular sleeve. Until Moft provides actual instructions, DO NOT BUY.

how strong is the magnet? If I hold it upside down by its sides without holding onto the case, will the magnet keep the laptop inside?

There are three size available. For the 13" MBP, please choose the 13" Carry Sleeve.

They also added a size that fits the newest 16 inch Macbook Pro (a backer asked and they answered positively in the comments).
