I found the answer in the fine print. It says, "You are not eligible for a referral bonus if you use your own referral URL to apply for a different card."

Did you use 2 different businesses/2 different EINs for your 2 business card apps in 2024, or did you apply for both business cards using the same EIN? I have a personal SW card, and I just applied and received a business SW card. I have had my personal SW card for over 2 years but I don't really want to close my personal card and reapply for another personal card to get additional points so that I can get the companion pass, so I'm thinking about applying for the second business card instead. Any suggestions?
Probably easiest for you would be to get the personal card in mid-Jan 2026 -- the past few years they have had an offer for a promo Companion Pass good for 1 year. So that could take you through 2026. And then in late 2026, you could try both business cards again.
Great videos and trying to get a CP. Question, they have great offers running now. I have a RR Card so should i get my partner to get the two cards to earn and apply for the person card now? If we apply now and it's 3 months that would mean the last billing would be in January correct?
Hey- I’ve heard conflicting reports that referral points post 1-2 weeks after referring someone, can you confirm that it’s definitely after the statement closing date? Say that my statement closing date is dec. 4, 2024. If I refer my husband in dec. 5th those referral points will post on January 4th and will count towards CP 2025?
Hi Ashley - I've never heard of Southwest points posting in between a statement. If you have seen a data point, I'm happy to take a look! It's possible people are referring to when they see "pending" points on their account. If you want to be extra safe, you can always wait until Jan 1 to refer!

I have a family of 7 so I’m actually leaning towards doing 2 cards each for more points for these elevated personal card offer that expire 10/17. If we both get personal cards Oct. 2024 and each of us get the $99 annual fee business cards in December 2024 could we do the three card method in two years and have one of us get the $199 80,000 business card since neither of us will have that one and then do then do the normal 3 card 2 pass strategy that way without having to wait until January 2027 to start?
@@ashlyncrawford7893 Yes if you get the elevated personal offer today (85k, only via personal referral), and then both get the 60k business offer, that would work. One of you would start with the 80k business offer in 2026. Then the only shift would be you'd have to wait until January 2027 to refer the second person to the personal offer again (After it has been 24 months since your bonus posted). But could refer the 2nd person to the 80k business offer after December statement close date
It it possible to finish the spend at the end of December (after December statement closes, but before January statement closes) and still qualify for the January points of the bonus?
Yes, you can do this! I don't always make that very explicit because I have seen so many people not being able to closely follow directions and spend too early.

I see the personal cards have a promotion going right now. I'm torn between which one to apply for. Trying to keep the minimum spending scale low lol. Were the points earned this year? You might still just want to start the process fresh, you'll have the Companion Pass longer and more points!

Yep if your P2 wants to earn a Companion Pass, you can refer them to the 85k offer now and then in 30 days to one of the business cards
