Nooooooooooooooo! Junk Diver! The beaker is Destiny. The hammer is Legacy. :D Man I loved Legacy/Destiny-era Magic. At least with Cabal Coffers and Desert Temple in Modern we can double up on Coffers, again. Not that MH sets let that be even remotely viable in Modern, but its something.
Deserted Temple seems like a funny card for crime decks
Quick! Everybody rewatch the video and everytime Jim says something in the vein of "Eldrazi Scion...sorry, Spawn" take a shot.
I like how Disruptor Flute attempts to solve one of the problems of "Pithing Needle" style cards. Doing things like Needling One Ring before your opponent even casts one just always feels kinda awkward, because even *if* they have it in hand, since they know about the Needle in play, they'll just do something else with their 4 mana on their turn.
With the Flute, however, it gets to function almost as a 2 generic mana counterspell of any card where its activated abilities comprise all or most all of its utility. Like, making your opponent have to commit themselves into sinking resources into playing the card and *then* flashing it in makes "needling" the card in question kinda makes it into a tempo-positive play (they spend 4 mana on the ring, and you spend 2 mana to basically counter it before they get any use of it." Definitely kinda neat
I would 100% have missed that Breaker of Creation counts lands. 🤯
Surprisingly, Dredge is actually the modern deck that's getting one of the biggest boosts. Flare of Denial, Cephalid Coliseum, and Deep Analysis all can potentially buff the archetype.
Something with the Glaring Fleshraker that wasn't explicitly said is how fast the pings on it will add up. At least in limited, a lot of the colorless spells you cast will also be creatures themselves, so it's really more like "whenever you cast a colorless creature, drain 2 life." Even something like curving this into the Gruul common devoid 4-drop that makes two spawns when you cast it is just a simple 3 drop into 4 drop that incidentally Boros Charmed your opponents face.
Ugin's Labyrinth feels like it has potential, but it's definitely niche. It feels mostly like a decent Tron card, a little ramp and a way to protect your boomer from discard.
Love the set review! And am an especially big fans of the common fetches, love that they're good and really cool to look at
Deserted Temple could see play in tron as a way to get 9 mana off your tron lands. If lotus field becomes a deck again this is also a way to get 5 mana with this and lotus field in play which is supper relevant for certain versions of the list.
I kinda like the 3 colour lands, even for a 2 colour set. Normally a colour pair has only one land that fixes it's mana in a cycle of 10, this way each colour pair has 3 lands.
One thing about Ulamog is if you creativity into it it will see itself in exile as it enters the battlefield. So it will be a 17/17 annihilator 10. Combine with the haste enchantment you can attach with it for 5 manna. I think it might be something to look at

Glaring Fleshraker seems fun in paradoxical outcome/ mystic forge builds. Your artifacts don't need to cost zero to be mana neutral and it is also a win condition. Talisman of (x)s and even signets become mana neutral. Sounds like an amusing tier 3-4 combo to meme with.
Urza's Cave could be an interesting addition to the gate deck?
Conspicuous Snoop + Arena of Glory seems good as well. You want to win the turn you cast Snoop... but let's not limit ourselves to red cards, you can give Hermit Druid haste with Arena of Glory. Sure, you'll have an extra {R} floating, which you can use to unearth Molten Gatekeeper. Sac Narcomeba, Molten Gatekeeper, and Hermit Druid to Dread Return your Thassa's Oracle and win on turn 3 with this 2-card combo of Forest and Mountain on turn 1 and 2 , Arena of Glory, Hermit Druid turn 3, and hope your opponents don't counter your Dread Return. If they do, Memory's Journey your Thassa's Oracle and win next turn.
could be a turn 2 win with Simian Spirit Guide, Elvish Spirit Guide, Lotus Petal, or a Mox
Vexing Devil is bad because it doesn't have haste. Arena of Glory gives 2 Vexing Devils haste on turn 2. Definitely worth considering.
For me, Kozilek might breath some new life into tron, It's a extremely powerful tempo play that puts insane pressure on control decks, even if they counter it, it starts getting the card flowing and even if they deal with it, keep chaining them and it just becomes overwhelming to deal with.
Tron struggles because decks have adapted to preventing Tron from happening; once it starts chaining boombooms the games can end pretty quick.
I feel like wotc is printing powerful Tron cards so that it can win faster when the game is locked up, since not much feels worse than having all your lands blown up and watching Tron durdle for another 15 minutes because they can't kill you
I do believe ugins lab is actually good in an old school affinity deck that plays 8+ enforcers

Disagree with the Ugin Labyrinth take, Jim. People will go to any length to have a land that taps for two, this is also kinda the 5th-8th copies for Eldrazi Temple. I think Eldrazi aggro can make a sick comeback with this land.
The biggest problem is that it sometimes taps for two and sometimes is a waste, and when it is a soul land, it suffers from all the bounce land problems, but it's even worse.
At least when I get ghost quartered or blood mooned my bounce land drew me a card. ugins labyrinth literally discards a card making ghost quarters a 1 for 1 trade

Eldrazi aggro plays 4-5 7 drops. Don't think that will be consistent enough

Tribal as a word has a bunch of racist connotations and baggage with it and it kind of doesn’t cost anything to changing it to kindred.

Ugin's Labyrinth is straight up only good in affinity or Eldrazi. That is it. It will drop hard.
I might be wrong, but I think it might be a bit clunky in Affinity. Yes, you could power out a turn two Synthesizer, but you could potentially do that anyways without sacrificing your artifact count, which all the 7 drops in Affinity care about.
If you look at Affinity's mana base, the deck typically runs four Dark Citadels, 4 Urza Sagas, some combination of the blue/x artifact dual lands, 1 - 3 islands, and then some combination of Spire of Industry for fixing, Otwara for utility, Treasure Vault for more artifact lands, and Fomori Vault for card selection.
I'm not sure what you cut to make room for Ugin's Labyrinth cause it's not a Artifact land in a deck that cares about Artifacts, doesn't provide fixing or utility. So yes it can potentially tap for two if you imprint something, but to me. This card feels like a trap in Affinity style decks, but I could be wrong.
