- Fairly OddParents has been around OVER 15 years and is one of Nickelodeon's longest running animated series. Created by Butch Hartman, Fairly OddParents follows Timmy Turner as he gets every wish he ever wanted granted by his fairy godparents! After 10 season, multiple specials and even a live action movie (yes!), the series has changed quite a bit!! So Channel Frederator is bringing you Then VS. Now Fairly OddParents!

Butch you're awesome, but dude I'd love to see a new season of Danny Phantom. IMO it's the best show you ever did and if Nickelodeon ever decided to pick it up again I know I'd totally watch every waking minute of it.

A noticeable difference between Stephen Hillenburg and Butch Hartman is, that Stephen atleast tries to bring back stuff from the old Spongebob seasons (characters like Bubble Bass or Mystery the seahorse for an example).
Butch Hartman on the other hand repeatedly mentions characters like Chester, Chip Skylark or even Cosmo's Nickle on his twitter / RUclips, but for some reasons they do not appear in the modern episodes.
I heard that Butch Hartman actually wanted to end the show but Nickelodeon won't let him so now he's actually ruining the show on purpose so that it will be canceled
Eh, my guess is that
A: He's done what all that he can do for the characters.
B: The voice actors aren't interested or can no longer voice act like they used to(due to not finding the time or are just too busy with their own business).
Or
C: He's having a hard time trying to return the characters/make them relevant due to the recent seasons retconning stuff from the earlier seasons(and seasons 5-8).

ThatOneShyguy Cosmo was originally played by Phil Hartman but when the show became official in 2001 Darren Norris replaced him who voiced him today he also voiced Timmy's dad and jorgen anti Cosmo Gordy from Ned and the Cheff and that green guy from Tuff Puppy

icecream hero yeah, but it takes half the time as regular animation, which can be lazy to me. I definitely don't hate flash, since it can be used for many more functions. But I cannot get used to the way the characters move.

I think the big issue with Chloe and Sparky, at least for me, is not that they were brought into the show, but HOW they were brought in. In Sparky's introduction, you essentially retconned one of the best early episodes of the show, that being the one where Timmy's pet gerbil came back to life as a zombie. That episode described Timmy as a good pet owner who just had terrible parents who never cared for the pets while Timmy was away. And with Chloe's, she was brought in as a complete Mary Sue who everyone except the main character likes yet her whole reason for needing fairies is that she's too nice to make friends... which didn't appear anywhere in the episode save for that moment of explanation. If they were introduced with better story writing, I think people would have been more open to them.
Yeah, at least Poof was introduced and integrated into the show decently and didn't contradict everything the show had been up until that point.
The first seasons of the show had very good continuity, that made it more credible, interesting. Nowadays, continuity is so terrible that you can not take it seriously.
It can be humorous with random things, but being random is not humor.

icecream hero Even though story continuity has been ambiguous throughout the show, character continuity has been one of the stronger parts. If a character is here to stay, their existence and relevance is explained in a way that makes sense. From what I've seen, Chloe has been basically dropped in with little explanation or sense.
Chester's orthodontist, some of the background fairies, and even some of the one-off students were given better explanations and integration than Chloe.

I prefer Cosmo's voice from the early seasons and the hand drawn animation but I don't hate the modern show. Seasons 1-8 are the good seasons and Seasons 9-10 are just mediocre but not terrible as most older fans think. I view the main cartoon in three separate universes. One containing the first eight seasons, the second is Season 9 and the third is Season 10. Season 9 is a different universe because it breaks a lot of continuity from the first eight seasons and Season 10 is separate from Season 9 due to Sparky not being seen or mentioned.
I hate when people generically say the show went downhill from Poof onwards.

JT Westvold by that definition, Spongebob is either 20 to 33 years old because the pilot was created in 1997 and the original drawings and comics that featured the main characters of Spongebob were created in 1984.

The difference being is at least 8 episodes of The Fairly OddParents aired on Oh Yeah Cartoons, prior to getting its own spinoff series. SpongeBob's pilot never aired in 1997.

Actually, i loved poof and i liked Sparky. I don’t like chloe, not because she was brought into the show but how you portray her. You make her this Mary Sue that needs fairies. Fairies are given to children who are miserable. I.E: Timmy’s Parents barely pay attention to him and he has a Killer Baby sitter.
Chloe has a somewhat of a perfect life and everyone loves her. my point is that maybe you could portray her better. Like make her have a few faults, make her not spazz out whenever she makes a “bad choice”.
i honestly think that would make her more likeable to the Chloe haters. i just don’t wanna see Fairly Odd Parents suffer. Fat chance you will see this comment Butch, but keep up the good work, just portray new characters better. like how you did with poof: you did it gradually and steadily.

this is so cool! I love the show, not a huge fan of Chloe but I applaud butch Hartman for trying to spice up the show. I'm probably just too used to her not being there that I can't appreciate the change. regardless, awesome vid!

I LOATHE the new animation style tbh. Flash just looks cheap and lazy because it IS cheap and lazy. I miss the early days when it was hand drawn and it took way more time and effort to produce a beautifully flowing style. Flash just looks like poorly draw robots and doesn't allow characters to flow anymore.
icecream hero eh, true, but flash just looks so weird an unnatural. Everything is so flashy and seizure inducing nowadays because the animators rely so heavily on it. I wish they'd go back to hand drawn.

Like Spongebob, this show needs to stop. The new stuff sucks but the older stuff is legendary and almost completely timeless.

@@silloweet Eh, adding baby characters to a show is a mistake. Babies provide nothing, all they ever really do it either crying or pooping themselves. That's it, heck even a show like Rugrats had a problem with that with Dil. Adding a baby to a show about baby ruin it? Also why can't he talk? At least All Grown Up fix that.

Carson's Cartoons they mentioned the difference in animation style at two different points in this video... They said in the beginning that at the show’s start they used hand drawn animation which resulted in more dialogue-heavy episodes because they were cheaper to animate when the characters didn’t move much and then as the show adopted more modern styles of animation they started using more action sequences and visual gags. Then during Butch Hartman’s interview he mentioned that in the past the show was animated by an animation studio in South Korean but presently it is animated by a studio in Canada that uses flash animation.

Because of these constant changes, FOP has showed it's true colors: salty, mean-spirited, and quick-tempered, there's a reason new characters often stick around only to hold a grudge on Turner.
