  • When you're starting out learning anaesthesia, If can be hard to know what to say when you're asked "What is your plan for this anaesthetic?".
In this video I go through cases highlighting some key cases that you will encounter every day and the basic planning steps that you are expected to know.
    1) GA,sedation, regional or local
    2) Anaesthesia triad components required (Paralysis, hypnosis, analgesia)
    3) ETT or LMA
    4) Monitoring
    5) Pain management plan
    6) post op care (home, ward, HDU, ICU, transfer)
As you gain experience, you can build on this framework to add complexity... eg, type of intubation, PONV plan, haemorrhage management.... etc.
As you can imagine, it can get very complex, but this is where we all started!

Wojciech Wierzejski haha thanks :) I didn’t mention the issue of nsaids and IBD flares..
      I don’t know the answer...
      www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4034022/
Says conflicting evidence but more recent reviews might shed more light..
What would I do... probably avoid if analgesia isn’t a major concern for surgery/patient/pathology
