Well I can say that's truly the abd experience. I remember those funny moments I had with friends in abd and in moddeds versions. It was so peak. I wish I can live that experience again.

i like how the core aspects of old abd are staying, like the map style and the combat (although the combat seems to have been tweaked a bit), i think if abd just got rewritten entirely it would just end up like a second coming of the aut rerelease, so seeing the devs trying to keep that same flavor the original abd had in this rerelease looks great

I almost forgot about this game, but seeing it again reminded me of how much it meant to me when I was young. It truly changed my life, and now, as an adult, I still cherish those memories and miss this game so much.

After watching this trailer, the game honestly just feels stagnant. The design philosophy of the stands seems to be pretty bog standard (wait until jojo games discover tandem combos and creativity), and not an ounce of actual content was shown outside of vague exploration. I don't want to hate, and maybe they go over more content in different videos/sneaks, but this trailer specifically doesn't get my hopes up.
Yea they didn't show too much in this video but the discord had a lot of sneaks with way more
honestly you're right, it feels like the type of jojo game that releases and you play for like a weekend and stopping once you get the stuff you want. map doesn't look big enough for the exploration mechanics to even feel worth it. there's no leveling and you get stands with arrows from the shop so whats even the point of climbing random mountains lol?
abd was popular because there wasn't really anything like it at the time. this rework brings nothing new to the table except for wall climbing (which is useless) and good graphics.
seeing this trailer this reminded me more of stands awakening rather than the actual old abd.
There were more things that had to be cut from this video because of some visual bugs (eldritch gamemode as a prime example)

around 7 years since the first time I hop into ABD. The game brought me my first online game gang, though the gang is dead by now, we all got our personal lives, been a good memory. Hopefully the game gonna regain its crown

I always will remember the STWs and ALMOST every variant of SP dueling it out in the mini 1v1 arena that was really a soccer field. From every version of the map we've had, the soccer field becoming a mini duels arena and hangout area were my favorite times of ABD.
Alright, this is cool.
It isn't an AUT copy (look at what happened to ABD:M lol) and they actually innovate something that has never been done in a JoJo game which is climbing and hopefully genuine exploration. They also kept the style of the old ABD map. Excited to see this game again.

Small rant:
I think ABD has the potential to be amazing, but it will need a lot more content wise. Something to explore, NPCs to fight, something to earn like stand mastery.

map design is what's bringing me back honestly this shit is too good
People are saying "THIS IS ABD 4.0 🥶🔥" but it's looking a lot more like abd 1.1. I've gotta say, the innovative mechanics look great: cool shops, cool exploring, cool maps, etc.
What I'm afraid of is it seems to really lack is the basis of the core value of abd, which is the combat. I'm seeing moves like barrage and grabbing become integral to winning an interaction where as originally they were good to their own situations. Barrage them when they block and grab them to interrupt their action. It might not make sense in the way that I'm presenting it, but if you were to search for previous combat experiences within the old system, you'd see why they were created and useful.
This can be seen as me just disliking the new combat system, which I will give some credit to as I don't frequent games that have such gameplay; However, I'd like to argue that this is the reason why this game won't be the same (to put it lightly). It went from being an unique take on combat to...AUT x ABD:M. Lack of ragdolling, funny bear traps, and projectile spamming, just ruins the name of abd. There's no creativity in the combat, you pick a fight with someone and get ready to mash your keyboard whereas you could've used your surrounding to an advantage to those scenarios.
I'll make a comparison that shows this as clear as possible. ABD is the metal gear solid franchise. Previously, you could do many interactions differently, and had the resources of options to do so via different abilities. Now in ABD: Survive, you need to use a kit of mostly combo-orientated moves to release even a sliver of dopamine, AKA every interaction boils down to you placing down a fence and hitting zombies with a stick.
I'm really hoping that this is just one-off for star platinum and the world, as they are popular so they have to be good, jargon, and they're the only ones we can see in the video, but it still feels wrong to see the combat take this shape for popular stands. Just imagine how stands like star platinum: the world would behave compared to how they used to-unless of course they DO manage to create more freedom into the kit, to which I would accept the new combat system more.
You say the real stuff ever, creativity does play alot. I used to play hierophant green close quarter by baiting and using dodge, jump and block to get huge damage but most would just run and spam the emerald splash. I prefer when moves exist and maybe have a purpose thats explicit but they dont decide entirely how you play and you're free to find another use for the moves you're given.

Theres no stun, rolling is great, ragdolls are manageable, moves can be whiffed and punished, etc etc

While I Am excited to see the new move sets, Id advise to cut down on the amount of moves on each stand a little bit, as having that many is going to lead to either a very spammy type of combat, or each move feeling inconsequential.
More is Less. Refine each move in the stands kit and have them be more impactful to the stands overall playstyle, that is something that the original ABD did pretty well
everyone deserves 2nd chances... don't fail on me now.

Please hear me when I say this: IM BEGGING YOU DO **NOT** DO TRUE STUN COMBAT OR YOUR EFFORTS ARE GOING TO GO TO WASTE. It’s literally happened every single time. If you do truestun the game is literally going to be dead in a week. It looks good so far but keep track of this
-dont overbalance the game tca died because of this look at how good mrivals is doing, if everything is overpowered nothing is (to an extent)
- make sure the game has unique stuff that other jojo games cant clone easily (solid beatdown animation or cool awakening, or like a domain expansion) but dont go the aut route and make that the only thing the game does.
-have some sort of customization and progression system (also why aut died) dont make it a slog though item rates can be shit but nothing that is basically required should be under 0.5 percent alright

Most jojo games dies because its soulless games with barely any good game designers in their dev team. They tend to just put things randomly without thinking ahead.
Abd worked because every abilities had their own gimmicks, playstyles and most importantly there wasnt that much cheese unless you play op stands but even then the op stands were balanced by not being agile or being very basic. They shouldnt make stands all the same thats about it.

For a game that was in dev for 4 years I honestly expected revolutionary changes at the very least some new combat mechanics but this is just like after the first universe reset AUT or smth nothing new even AUT makes ALOT more changes than what abd did in 4 years and this is like my honest opinion I don’t dislike ABD or anything if anything I dislike AUT lol

I should clarify, the current game you’re seeing has only been in development for one year, the 4 years I was referring to was the different versions of ABD that were started by prior head devs, totaling in around 4 years. Hope this helps!
