I own this boardgame for about 2 years now, haven't played it yet because of lack of time and it's massive rules. Your videos helped me understand them and I'm going to start my playthrough very soon. You are doing a great job, keep up the good work!!!
Hey Bruce, You're an intelligent guy and I'm surprised you wouldn't understand these rules easily. Me and a few other people of Gotham are starting to suspect you're Batman. You have horrible bags under your eyes, always beat up looking, and Emily in tech support said you showed her the batmobile to try and get in her pants, but then you coughed up a bunch of blood onto her and she said your muttering response was, "Damn fucking hooligans and their baseball bat. I need to have Alfred reinforce my batsuit." Then you grappled hooked into a vent. Just saying maybe not understanding rules isn't the real reason you haven't started Gloomhaven
@@brianhensley7251 I must say, Batman is suspiciously Pro-Billionaire for a man who lives his life performing vigilante justice, but I guess we'll never know his true identity.
wow you put much effort in your video with these signs" ->" Despite I dont know every English word I understand all contexts, you explain slowly that is great!thanks
This is an excellent teaching guide for Gloomhaven. I am new to the game, but I have watched many videos about the game - yet this one stands above the others. Clear and concise descriptions are provided by you, including the more obscure game rules/situations. I am looking forward to watching the remaining videos of yours in this series. You have earned a well deserved like, comment and subscription! Thanks!
I bought Jaws Of The Lion on a whim before Christmas and we loved it so much we ended up buying the OG Gloomhaven. This video has helped us a ton in understanding the more complex things that aren't the best explained in the manual. Good stuff!
I just received Gloomhaven as a gift, so i've been looking up how-to videos. Your production quality is high. This is really well put together. Good job, man!
Awesome video! Finally someone that explains the game and how it actually looks and works. Just want to know more about the leveling up and what the impact is
Great video! It’s been a while since I’ve played Gloomhaven, and I need a refresher before jumping back in. One thing: at 19:10, the card lost to negate damage is not random. You get to choose.
Impressive that you can make such a dry topic quite fun, kudos! A minor quibble; An additional difference between long rest and short rest at 17:18 is that the players chooses which card is lost from their discard pile rather than losing one at random as with a short rest as per GH rules p.17 and JotL Glossary p.17.
Just started a campaign with my father & some of his friends. Couldn't do much because I didn't know many of the rules. This board game is definitely the best I've ever played and for anyone wondering whether or not it's worth the price tag, it is.
So good question. If you discarded cards in the first scenario due to long or short rests, do those cards stay discarded in the followup scenario, or do you get your hand of cards back? 🤔
great vid thx!!!! i jusrt played today my first time.. spent loots of time understanding things... now i see things more clearly... also checked some other vids and i "thought" they made mistakes.... when i look at your vid.. i new i was right... the other guys made mistakes
Hey! I have a question. If my party have killed all monster in a room but still not unlocked next room. Do we still need to draw a attack card to make a move? Or can we just move without draw an attack card and discard that for no use? Also how does it work when all monster is dead in a scenario. And the goal was to kill all monster. Can we still loot treasures and coins or must we make a loot action when monsters still are alive?
What about the coins left out in the field? Like if I kill all the enemies on the map, and there are few coins, do I auto collect them all? (probably not), can I use my remaining cards to move and collect the coins or all the uncollected coins lost?
Definitely a good rundown of the rules, just a bit of advice going forward though: try using scenario 1 a bit more, there's a few spoilers that he Gloomhaven fanbase tends to be pretty particular about. Doesn't really affect me but figured it'd be good advice.
@Rage Badger Gaming thanks for the advice and I love your Frosthaven updates! I'll add a disclaimer in the visible part of the description. "Beware, minor spoilers". Hopefully this helps steer those averse to any spoilers away from this content. As part of the Gloomhaven fanbase, I made a overview video that I would have wanted to watch when getting started to include a bit more than just Black Barrow, but to your point, fair to give a spoiler alert. BTW. the next video is generic showing only lvl 1 actions and abilities for just the starting characters. Thanks again!
its important to note that a short rest means you lose a random card in the discard pile and you can take 1 damage to select a different random card, BUT if you long rest you get to CHOOSE the card you lose from the discard pile. choosing the card can make all the difference in the world.
Great video. I've resisted the urge to purchase this game and this video cemented my decision. I'm glad I never bought it. The idea that you can become exhausted and have to sit the rest of the adventure out is just nonsensical to me. It may be a decent board game mechanic but it reduces the thematic component to zero. "Sorry comrades, I'm just too tired to continue, you must go on without me. I need a nap, so I'll see you back in Gloomhaven:"
I thought that when you take a long rest, you get to choose the card you lose, after everyone else has taken their actions? It's only the short rest that you have to randomly lose a card.
Probably one of the best 20 min break down of Gloomhaven ive seen. Weird question but what do you use for your audio? Its really smooth, i like it. Anywho, really good video, thx! 🤘😁
