Hey Rory! Thanks for making these videos, they are my favourite on RUclips. Any chance of a nerdy breakdown of throws with a discussion of balance for throws, kuzushi, grips, force vectors, set ups, common reactions? Much love from Europe :)

Hey thank you! In the future (Next year) definitely. I have specific takedown stuff that I have been developing for myself, but not sure what to teach exactly, or make sure it's broken down well enough for other body types. Plus so much of it is from other wrestling instructionals that I have to find my spin on creating the content that isn't just blatant rip offs of existing material.

RVV BJJ That’s cool! Thanks for answering and I’ll be looking forward to seeing your take on this in the future :)

i started using the kimura from NS or side control to take the back after watching one of rob's seminars. and it's still my go to move from that positions. sometimes i have the problem of ppl turning into me after the chair sit. i know that i have to keep my arm under the oponent's triceps but it still happens. can you even hold someone in back mount for an extended period of time just with kimura control?

You can hold it for awhile if you have proper hip angle, but I don't recommend it. Have your arm on either side of your opponent's body gives you a lot of options to control and threaten submissions. Holding Kimura control is great for mobility and adjusting angles to set up arm bars or triangles. If I'm not doing it for that purpose then I prefer other forms of back control tactics.

@@RVVBJJ what tactics are those? 😁 I've started using Danahers double cross, but I still need more time to experiment

I don't know exactly what the double cross refers to but I probably use it. Regular seat belt control, motor cycle grips, straight jacket mostly. I use Kimura control when I have the other arm trapped with my leg.

@@RVVBJJ so you switch to the kimura after the trap? i'm trying to hold them with the kimura while attempting to trap the arm. i wish i could post images here.. the double cross is one of the grips from the straight jacket system. you're on the weak side. your underhook arm is gripping the arm you want to trap and the overhook/choking arm is gripping the arm that you're underhooking. the pull of your overhook prevents them from turning in. i'm having success with it, but it's a lot of grip switches

Sounds like the double cross is basically one of my main forms of control. If I use Kimura control from the back it's to go to the arm bar or rear triangle. If I have back position first I usually trap the arm first with my leg, and in the rare instance I can't submit them with the RNC I will move to the other submissions with Kimura control.
