Hi, nice video. I worked for a Canadian Leica dealer back in the 80's and own an unused/unwrapped 70th Anniversary edition M4P that I purchased new back then. I also have an unwrapped M4P chrome that I also purchased new. None of the cameras I have or sold back then were sealed the way yours was but that's not to say that the German pieces weren't inspected by the distributor over there and then sealed up again. My M4Ps were in a fairly form fitting baggie and taped shut. Because of their age that piece of tape has gone yellow and brittle and with the 70th no longer holds. You still have an absolutely mint camera but I don't think it is in it's factory wrapper, you do have a few other pieces that my 70th didn't come with though it did come with the post cards certificate and English and French manuals. My unwrapped M6 is also in a baggie that is taped as was the custom back then. And yes I do actually shoot with Leicas just that the sealed M4P and M6 were backups to the M6 and M4P that I was shooting with back then. The 70th Anniversary was an impulse buy at the time because I had caught wind of a major price increase that was coming on all Leica gear when the company I worked for took over the Leica distributorship in Canada.
Great video about a very special edition. The closing of the factory that saved Leica, a wonderful Barnack print and still sealed! Beautiful find. I also found one of these rarities second hand and used, but still with all packaging and in exquisite condition. One of the best M models ever made in such excellent condition. I use mine quite a bit since it’s already been used. Love that grip dot.
@@mathphotographer math just so you know I was fortunate to make the switch from Sony and Fuji to Leica. I was looking for info on Leica gear to help me make my choices. Your videos were so valuable to me collecting info. Thanks again. Can’t wait for you to get your hands on the M11 (can’t confirm or deny I get it lol). Thanks again kudos to you. Keep up the great work and thanks for doing these videos in English.
Great video! I have one of these special M4P edition! But I bought it in 2000, second end but like new one! I used it a lot. I’ve also the box, and other gadget, I’ve also the special leather bag with logo 13-83. I like Leica sound and it will be difficult for me not to open that plastic envelop…..😂😂😂
Hello Mathphotographer! I found you 2 years ago and I loved your series of testing smartphone cameras at night. You were the only one doing it and I absolutely loved your channel. Can you please revive it and do it again now? ESPECIALLY with many smartphones coming out like Xiaomi devices? I hope you can read this and best regards!
I own the 100 Years Anniversary Limited Edition M240 bought used from a Leica store, and I have been using it with a variety of Leica lenses. Certainly feel good when holding a more special Leica.
Congratulations, great collectors camera!!! After reading some of the comments by your viewer some people don’t appreciate these lovely rare unblemished treasures from Leica’s history
Truely amazing to see this. It gave me goosebumps. I held my breath when I saw you produce the scissors... oh no Math is about to open it. Hitchcock like suspense. So glad you didn’t use them.

Nice video of interesting Leica camera history, glad that you did not cut the plastic bag as the air inside is nearly 40 years old as well.

Open it …. Tons of those about … if it was just the plain chrome version though…. Without engravings ….. we’ll that’s a different story…..
I couldn’t resist opening the sealed packaging to sniff it. Yes, i might be a bit weird.
Lol :)
I could! 😉
Now if you had the Napoleon edition…. 1813-1983
Math, i bet you would open it! I was wrong ... :-)
420. Nice. :)
How long are you going to wait this time? LOL
A paper weight now .
