    I am so happy for you! I was just diagnosed about 3 months ago and I also am at a 3. I am taking Prednisone and Azathioprine. This is the first video of yours that I have watched, and what a good one to see!! I saw in one of the comments about eating a high protein diet, but my doctor has not told me this. I'm trying to find all information that I can, because it is my understanding that it's a rare disease, but one of the most common among rare diseases (if that makes sense). Anywho, so glad for you. What a wonderful blessing.

    Congratulations. I went through the same experience. Elastography diagnosis was advanced liver fibrosis or serosis. I thought I was going to die. They put me on prednisone and a few weeks later I had a liver biopsy. My specialist called a few days later with the biopsy results and told me all the fibrosis had gone. I also wept tears of joy. I danced around the kitchen. I told myself, 'I get to live, I get to live.." I shed tears of joy for you. I know how feel. I am now on mycophenolate and life is almost back to normal.

    does full ression mean you are back to eating a normal diet? like not worrying about your salt and protein Intake?

    • @SarahCarr
      @SarahCarr  Год назад +1

      Yes, though I didn't make major dietary changes for my AIH. In talking with my gastroenterologist and then hepatologist, I stuck to my normal way of eating. TBH there are things I tend not to eat already (few snacks, no soda or alcohol, no fast food, etc), so as everything on the CMP/CBC was normal, I kept eating as I had before.

  • @Ceeshore
    @Ceeshore Год назад

    Great news, Sarah, but shouldn't they do a liver biopsy in order to say you are in remission, or is that when you are to get off your medicine. Also, did they do IGG test to see where that is at, because that is very important number to see to make sure you are in remission.

    • @SarahCarr
      @SarahCarr  Год назад +1

      The liver biopsy is the gold standard, that's for sure! But given cost ($6k!) and that my last biopsy was only 7 months ago, we're going to hold on that for now. I'm praying that all of the blood tests come back as they have (moving to every 3 months for CMP/CBC/hepatic panels), and then if I am still in this place by end of 2023, my hepatologist said we'd consider a biopsy then. What comes after that? I'm not sure!

    Hi Sarah. Not sure if you'll see this post. I also have aih and have been prescribed azathioprine. In your opinion is it worthwhile to take it. 😊 are you still in remission?

    • @SarahCarr
      @SarahCarr  Год назад

      Hi Janet-- yes, I am still in remission, and my latest numbers are even lower. Two things my doctor did was to run a test about how I metabolize the medication (IIRC it was a genetic test) and then with my blood draws they check for 6MMPN and 6TGN toxicity (a potential consequence of Azathioprine). I hope you have a doctor that is caring and answering all of your questions
