I didn’t realize that there is a retaining notch in the piston ring groove. I tried to force it and the ring broke. Whoops. I will try again

I and sympathize. I just had the same problem and ended up breaking the new ring with a screwdriver tip (after a whole bunch or dirty words). I've done it before on normal sized engines but didn't have a ring compressor for something this small. I was hoping that you had any ideas on what to use to hold the ring in place.

Use your hands to compress the rings.

@@jayytee8062 My fingers are too big. I ended up getting a ring compressor for small engines. I didn't think about it at the time, but I guess I could have trimmed down a plastic pill bottle and saved the money.
      Thanks for the reply!

A thin piece of metal broke off the side of the motor up top. Will that cause it problems?
