He is truly a unique streamer though. While other top streamers compete to find the next hot new game to get more viewers, Asmongold is the only one who keeps his insane amount of viewers with the same old game.
And half his viewers don't even play the game anymore, if they ever did.

Because those top streamers see their viewers as numbers to earn currency with. Whereas Asmond openly says we are numbers to earn currency with half-jokingly. People like when people are honest, real, and not using an obvious scheme to try and scam people of their money. Asmond just speaks his mind and people like that because they hardly do it themselves.

The "talking constantly" part is kinda hard when you're just getting started streaming though cause there's no viewers to talk to. I feel like "Get a Mcconnel" should be step #1.

@Jonathan Soko True, I agree. However, if you're consistant and people like you then eventually you'll grow a following, the best way is probably to play with your followers and be good/knowledgable on the game you play, that way you will draw people in.
All the big streamers started talking constantly and reading chat at all times when asmon blew up to gain his level of interaction but everyone failed , so dont be hard on yourself , do what you like and speak the way you are talking to your friends
@Jonathan Soko that's why if you have a personality you stream smaller games first with only a few other streams but still a good bit of people watching. A lot of people got started streaming destiny because it was a dead game with a decent viewership.

Haven't played WoW ever, but i watch clips and videos of Asmon. He's genuine and fun. He also reacts to a lot of stuff outside of the game. Even tho he plays a very boring game(imo) his stream is never boring.

I love watching Asmongold - he is incredibly entertaining and brilliant in exploiting a game. I play the game, am pretty bad at it, I just watch him because he is freaking hilarious.... And, I am old enough to be his Grandparent... really.

@@bloodandguts5931 - Yep, just turned 71. I am disappointed in the new expansion- Shadowlands. Very boring stuff and too tedious to get the flying ability. I would rather have it done the way we had to do it in the last couple of expansions.
Thankfully, I have Skyrim V to turn too. I am looking at the New World game, but not sure if I'm going to play it or not. If I can play it completely solo, I'll check it out.
May be trying Red Redemption 2 though...

I played alone all my life until relatively recently, and it's actually a lot of fun to play with a group that isn't mean or trying to act cool yknow, just everyone relaxing having a good time. All of these games you mentioned are actually better played with friends! :3

Damn, I started playing before asmongold on my parents accounts.
you can skip the whole "how" for the most as the reason is pretty obvious: asmon is an extremely eloquent, obviously really intelligent guy, who has his heart at the right spot, but spawns up this persona during gameplay that is hyperbolic at times and then chose to devote his life to just one game. he is extremely perceptive and you need to just watch a few minutes of his IRL channel and you realize that on top of all he is 100% "real" and possesses an incredible amount of wisdom at such a young age. so if you think "why him and not me" and "i can do it if this guy can" the answer is probably no. he stands pretty much alone with all the aforementioned traits and life choices combined together. despite it looking like a bummy neckbeard shouting into a mic, he has a quite unique set of talents that you or I probably dont have - so that's "how" he did it.
In my time of need, when I call for help in my lair of social distancing and and asmongloid posters, about to sucumb to depression and retail WoW who answers? That's right, It's them, it's ya bois Asmongold TV featuring crazy cat neighbour and DdoA.

The thing is asmon is way more educated and articulate then you would expect and he has a solid set of morals so I think he’s able to give really level headed takes on his react videos, as well as has a great sense of humor and doesn’t take himself too seriously. The type of guy you’d want to be friends with. That alone is worth the follow
Morals? My brother in Christ half his stream is talking about how he used to scam people and how if it wasn’t for streaming he would probably be in prison for making a crypto exchange and rug pulling it.
I have absolutely no intention of ever playing WoW again, but I still watch Asmon talk about the game and play it because it's fun

The point the video makes at 6 minutes is hilarious because before I watched this video as I was sitting on the toilet contemplating my inevitable homelessness and the multiple points in times I could of made different actions to become a millionaire and all the versions of reality in the universe where i am successful all of a sudden Asmongold popped in my head.
By all accounts and every estimation you'd think Asmongold would just be a loser. BUT by a stroke of luck or grace or whatever god you believe in the universe Asmongold was lucky enough to be born into a reality in a cluster of realities in the universe where hes a successful millionaire.
And then I finished wiping and flushed.

I'm a very new viewer, but I've watched lots of videos on wow and other streamers, and one of the very first things I noticed was how clean your stream was with the clutter. Its ine if the biggest reasons it made me stick around
i dont even play WoW but your brand of entertainment and the things you have to say speaks to gamers on a core level. im a huge Asmon fan just for his personality.
Absolutely accurate. His point about having a beginner friendly, entertaining, and simple stream is what Asmon has mastered, and this is my proof; WoW has never been a game I've remotely considered getting into. The only games I've played over the past 8 (yes, 8) years is World of Tanks, Arma 2 & 3, CS GO, DayZ, and Tarkov. No other interests or desires to change that lineup. However, I've watched more of Asmon's stream than any other streamers that actually play games I do. Hell, coming from a FPS/survival gamer's perspective, those given stereotypes of fantasy/RPG players are essentially true. And yet, nonetheless, here I am. Watching another asmongold reaction video to someone else's video all centered around a game I look down upon. True testament to his talent and success as a streamer.

I don't play WoW, never have and probably never will. But I love Asmon's videos where he speaks his opinions without giving a damn what others say. He takes multiple perspectives in account for whatever he's talking about and that's something people don't like to hear in their personal echo chambers.

Actually Asmongold didn't play vanilla.
Dude I also started playing in July 2006, I know bc my account was created in 2006 and it was in the summer time. My cousin was visiting and introduced me to it. I got a month of game time when we bought the game, 2 week trial my cousin gave me, and was able to pay for one month. Stopped playing a few weeks after school started in September and that timeframe overall makes sense to me. Made it to level 50 and then stopped. Started playing again in 2014 and leveled up to 90 I wanna say. Played for 2 months in the fall of 14’. Fast forward and me and good buddy are leveling up some characters on Darkspear. It’s been about 5 weeks in and things are looking sweet. Just got a new gaming laptop. Still got my 90. Started an alt with my bud since I introduced him to the game, and I’m at 74 shadow priest. He’s at 109 lol. Guess he likes the game

Wow, he totally LOST IT!! Actually a good video though. Asmon is genuinely an interesting and nice person I think.
I've said for a while now that Asmons stream is the equivalent of Jerry Springer basically with all of the shock value type of things. Any given day you can see boogers, bugs, story about blood on a shower curtain, mold and mildew, hear about rats in a washing machine and god knows I could go on. Thats not me taking away from his positive qualities, but those things and other things like it really brought a lot of viewers out of morbid curiosity if nothing else.
I dont give a single fuck about WoW, but for whatever reason I just like the personality of Asmon. If he did something else I'd still watch him.
