I built a Rev Raptor, Gun Sniper, and Liger Zero Schneider so far and I think I'm ready for the Shield Liger. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this kit as I now know to keep my plastic cement close during the build.
I just finished painting and building mine last week too, and my biggest issue is that the pegs for the limbs are too short so they keep falling off when moving them. Used quite a bit of glue too, so this kit does need a bit more work
if you glue that back part of the torso/waist section it wont fall apart like that does and same goes for the blue part that fell off and the part on the feet also any part that is loos gets glued it wont fall apart
I want a DCS-J as my first Zoids Plamo but after seeing the shake test it made me rethink my decision looks like i would end up with the liger zero as if its the sturdiest liger base on the reviews of many
There's nothing wrong with this model kit. This is the Battle Damaged version. It's written on the box in Japanese that we can't read. (Not really. Just a silly joke.)
I picked up the DCS-J version recently. It'll be my 2nd HMM and i'm kinda dreading using glue and the joint issues but i'm kinda excited for the challenge
I'll just do what I did for my Geno Breaker and drill some 3.0 millimeter holes into both ends and then cement them together using some pieces of sprue. Easy fix.
I have an HMM Shield Liger as well. Criticisms I have for it are: Small pegs for the legs to attach to the torso. Should've been longer and have splines like the Zaber Fang's. Torso joints are too restrictive and provide little articulation. Should've been less blocky and tapered off a bit to free up movement. The hoses on the shoulders restrict front leg articulation. They should've been rubber rather than plastic. The rocket pods on the side are too short. They should've been telescoping to increase its length when deployed so they're clear of obstruction from the front legs. And the tail. This applies to all of the ligers, really. It should've been a metal wire that's covered in molded rubber to provide maximum articulation.
Superglue ALL the vents. Superglue the cannon on top. With the DCS-J I superglued the vents that hold the cannons. And if/when the polycaps stretch put a couple coats of clear nail polish on the posts. There does appear to be a maximum that the polycaps can stretch or compress before the housing they are in so to speak stops them. It was an annoying build. And I did the Gojulas before the liger. Once I had it together it grenaded on me. However for me it was everything but the legs.
@@vancyhobbies You can replace the polycaps in the shoulders with 0.17" inside diameter by 0.25" outside diameter clear vinyl tubing. Since the post is 5mm in diameter .017" is about 0.6 MM too small so they won't fit and the tubing doesn't stretch so cut once lengthwise so the post end can actually fit. It's not quite as snug as the polycaps when they are fresh but snug enough it won't grenade. All I needed was 4 inches of it to do my blade and shield ligers.
@@vancyhobbies Hardware stores will have tubing on rolls and you can simply cut what you need. Ace Hardware and True Value if you are in the United States. That way you don’t have to buy 25 feet of the stuff online.
HMM is only good for the fully loaded Zoids: the Blade Liger, equipped Liger Zero, etc. But for bare Zoids like Shield Liger and Saber Tiger, the proportions and shape of Tommy is still better.
unless they change the WHOLE build and fixes the issues with the shield/blade ligers i would stay away unless you wanna play with a hang grenade even by looking at it
my biggest issue with it is the tiny ass peg on the armor on the front feet. i snaped mine. had to glue a lot of things tho. its my fist hmm and i got to say, if i didnt look up some review of other kits, id probably have messed this thing up. also, the missle pods at the side of the body are so poorly designed i just forget about that gimmick.
My god the intro... Not even 10 secs in the video and you killed me already. This Liger is the holy hand grenade(also known as Zeta Gundam) of the zoids collection I guess. I don't particularly like this Liger because he looks a bit too pedestrian for my tastes, but it's a starter zoids I guess. I am a bit salty the Murasame Liger never got a HMM kit while the Zero and Shield spam kits like they are cancer cells, but this is not the time... I hope you deal with the AB Liger soon, it would be easy to suffer with it now instead of delaying it.
Definitely the zeta of zoids! I agree, I wish more zoids from other series got the spotlight as well. Despite the Murasame not have an hmm it still has a supernova brand wish looks amazing, hopefully I can grab one in the future. As for the blade liger, i will gather my patience and review it soon 😟
Glue best friend for this model makes it more sturdy
Yep I agree, I glued a lot of the non moving parts 😆

Happy to be of service
That was basically the sound I made when my niece knocked my just finished HMM Liger Zero Empire Ver off the table.
Damn that unfortunate, how bad was the damage?

Sucks how kotobukiya didn't upgrade the engineering.
so.......the kit is explosive, great review
Yuppers
Thanks now i know what to expect with this kit
Yep just explosions!
if you glue that back part of the torso/waist section it wont fall apart like that does and same goes for the blue part that fell off and the part on the feet also any part that is loos gets glued it wont fall apart
I glued many parts after the review. But for review sakes it's best to show the kit as is after a straight build.
Would love to see your take to the blade liger but if it comes with the expense of your well being then its fine if you pass it
I will gather my courage for that kit lol
❤ This is one of my all time fav Zoids!
I love it too, just not the model kit lol
For mine I glued pretty much everything that didn’t move on this kit and slapped a big ol 30 Minute Missions weapon rack on his back.
I was tempted on gluing it as well because of how frustrating it was...
I got this a few months ago, I glued everything that doesn't move haha
😆 this is the way lol
That's what I'm thinking about. If it's not supposed to move, I'm probably just gonna glue it
I want a DCS-J as my first Zoids Plamo but after seeing the shake test it made me rethink my decision
looks like i would end up with the liger zero as if its the sturdiest liger base on the reviews of many
Dcs j has the same frame as the normal shield liger so probably gonna end up as a hand grenade.
@@vancyhobbies man its a shame,if the lighter lesser parts and the latest falls apart imagine a heavier more part same frame from 2019 wont explode
Can't wait 😃😃
Lol thanks for the support!

Realistic battle damage is dreadful fir articulation 😆
@@vancyhobbies HA HA HA, Yes it is.

And a challenge you will certainly have 😆 I too dread building my own dcs j...
this is my first HMM! just wanna ask about the side manes on 5:03 , are yours loose? mine flips out when i face its head down.
Mines surprisingly are not, just shows the discrepancy of quality between each kit.
ZOIDSS!! This one looks super dope
It is! Just don't touch it...
I'll just do what I did for my Geno Breaker and drill some 3.0 millimeter holes into both ends and then cement them together using some pieces of sprue. Easy fix.
Ya I do that too minus the pinning unless they break.

Ya the many complications of being the first hmm zoid, too bad they never upgraded the engineering.
Ironically the bootleg BT version of the shield liger holds itself together a lot better

I did superglue alot of the pieces after the review 😆 it was such a pain to deal with it.

Oo cool I will look into doing that. Thanks for the tip

Ya I am inclined to agree with you, il try to grab a tomy shield liger when I see one.
I was legit planning on getting one of these and then the intro hit me like a dumptruck 💀
Glad you liked it lol
Honestly, it looks really good when finished. But it's such a pain to build it.
Yep! Super tempermental kit...
Well, at least it serves as a good dead Zoid that was ripped to shreds by another better built one! ^^;
ah yes the circle of life 😆
i paint my frames and joint for extra sturdiness XD
I plan on doing this, whenever I manage to get an airbrush 😆

Ah I gotcha
Glue for permanent
Double adhesives for temporary
1000%
hmm seems the marking version arnt any better wow seems this shiled liger didnt hold up mines still just fine
Ya old design has discrepancies in their quality, it's a shame 😔
