I made this for a friend's birthday and everyone ADORED it. ESPECIALLY the icing. The icing is a game changer for caramel lovers! Even my baker friend, who was skeptical of this way to make caramel, asked for the recipe!! The cake was a little dense for my liking, but that could have been a mistake on my end. But this icing was fantastic! Would put it on any cake!!

We used to call this type of frosting "penuche". Back in the 60's-70's, we would make a yellow cake and put "penuche" frosting on it. Penuche was a type of caramel fudge.
I might make this for Christmas 🎄 The frosting looks like frosting or caramel fudge rather than a shiny caramel. I also like the idea of the reverse method. Makes life easier with baking and not messy at all.

Hi.. been looking for a caramel filling recipe for my moist chocolate cake 😁 and this is the perfect one for it.. I’ve tried lots of your recipes on pinterest and man do they taste so good!! Thank you for sharing.. God bless you ☺️
Have been watching a ton of your videos and love them all! Could you tell me why you use whole milk in some cake recipes and buttermilk in others? Also, I noticed that in this recipe, you used the reverse creaming method, but not in your yellow cake recipe. Is there a reason for that? Can I use the ingredients in the yellow cake recipe and do the reverse creaming method for that one as well? I have baked for years, but never heard of the reverse creaming method. This is brilliant! Thank you!
You can see how moist it is,when you were icing the final layer. So without the icing,is this cake a regular one that you use or is it designed just for this recipe?
One question for the caramel filling: as it is made of butter , in room temperature will lead to be melted and be runny and lose it nice shape? Is it so?
That looks amazing! As for weighing out the batter for each pan, I actually do that. But then again, I also weigh out the dough for each individual cookie when making chocolate chip cookies. I know that's not normal, but I just prefer doing it that way XD
I thought I was the only who did that. I weigh my cookie dough to ensure each one is the same size and bakes evenly. I place a little square of parchment paper on the scale. Use a tablespoon to measure the first cookie and go off that weight for the rest. I’ve been making this browned butter chocolate chip cookie recipe lately it’s delicious. ruclips.net/video/oCt3xhKCX1k/видео.html
I love caramel anything, lol! Several years ago, one could buy a caramel cake mix, off the shelf. I don’t recall which company sold them. Maybe Betty Crocker? The caramel icing was sold separately, in the usual packaging. This recipe looks delicious 😋
It’s sweet, but not overly sweet like you might expect. While the icing is definitely super rich, somehow it doesn’t seem overbearingly so when coupled with the cake. I hope you love it! ❤️
@@SugarSpunRun thank you so much for taking the time and answer my question….I hope in the future you will try some cakes keto friendly…. And yes definitely I will make this cake for my family blessings 😀

@@SugarSpunRun I’m so happy for her, and all of you. I’m still waiting to see 2 new grandchildren who were born during this craziness. They live on the other side of the country. 🇨🇦 I made the cake for a meeting I was supposed to attend. It’s a very nice cake! The texture is so fine!
If i wanted to make a 3 layer cake what would be my measurements be for the cake and carmel? Thank you in advance
You would want to increase everything by 50%. :)
I love caramel anything, lol! Several years ago, one could buy a caramel cake mix, off the shelf. I don’t recall which company sold them. Maybe Betty Crocker? The caramel icing was sold separately, in the usual packaging. This recipe looks delicious 😋
This one will definitely hit the spot! Homemade is always better in my opinion. :)
So I made this cake at the beginning of the pandemic and it was great!! Do you think this cake would be just as good with buttercream frosting?
Sounds good to me! 😊😊
Thank you for your beautiful delicious recipe yum 😋
You're welcome! :)
Thank you so much for making this recipe very user friendly. First time making a Carmel Cake and it was delicious. Thank you for sharing.
You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it! ☺️
I love your spatula!😊
Thank you! :)
Beautiful I'm going to make it
I hope you love it! :)
I love your recipes, but I also love the editing and brevity of your episodes
Thank you so much. :)
How lucky you are you get to taste all of your dishes
The best part of the job! 😋
❤Thanx Sister!, . . . . This cake is a game changer !!❤
Can I just use dark brown sugar for the frosting? I don’t have enough light brown sugar.
Yeah that will work just fine. 😊
Can you use this recipe for cupcakes?
The cake was Awesome I like the icing but if I did want to cut back on the sweetness of the icing where and how 🤔 could I have done it??
Does adding the powered sugar makes it even more sweeter especially with the 2 cups of brown sugar? Thanks! Looks delish 😋
It’s sweet, but not overly sweet like you might expect. While the icing is definitely super rich, somehow it doesn’t seem overbearingly so when coupled with the cake. I hope you love it! ❤️
Omg …I love your cakes ….they look delicious….do you have any whit almond flour?
Thank you so much! No, I do not 🙁
@@SugarSpunRun thank you so much for taking the time and answer my question….I hope in the future you will try some cakes keto friendly…. And yes definitely I will make this cake for my family blessings 😀
Which brand of all purpose flour do you use? Thank you
I really use just about any brand. Since I go through a lot I will use a lot of store brand flour. :)
I have the same cake platter. It was my mother's. Does yours have a silver clip-on carrying handle? This cake looks delicious, and caramel is my favourite flavour. Thanks so much!
Mine does not have a carrying handle but I love it anyway. It’s so pretty! 😊😊 I hope you love the cake. 😊
This looks so yummy!
How would you adapt the frosting recipe to make a sea salt caramel frosting? I love this with a chocolate cake!
I would probably just sprinkle a little sea salt on top. :)
@@SugarSpunRun Thank you!
I just had to subscribe 😋 absolutely delicious 😋
Thank you! I hope you love everything! :)
I am wondering. I noticed you use corn starch in your cookie recipes. Does it work well in cake recipes as well?
It really depends on the recipe so it's hard to give you a blanket answer here. :)
Looks great I will be trying it
I hope you love it! :)
Does the vanilla extract still have alcohol cos it hasn't been heated?
The alcohol will cook out. :)
This looks sooooo YUMMY! Thanks for sharing...can this be made into cupcakes too?
Yes that will work just fine. They will need to bake for about 17 minutes and will make about 24 cupcakes. 😊
Made your ginger cookies and they were massive!!!
Definitely trying this! But without the icing does it still qualify to be a caramel cake?
I'm so glad you enjoyed the cookies! This cake will have some caramel undertones, but you really need the frosting for that true caramel cake. :)
Hi sam
In this recipe for icing u wrote in written that 2 cups icing suger is equal 250 grams ( is this right or wrong)plz explain it
I am confused 😐
1 cup of powdered sugar is only 125g as compared to granulated sugar which is 200g. The 250g is accurate for the 2 cups of powdered sugar. :)
@@SugarSpunRun thank you so much for your reply 😘
I love all your cakes xx
Thank you! 😃
I’m watching this now in August, 2021. I’m wondering how your sister’s wedding was, considering how things have changed since you originally posted this. (p.s. I’m excited to try this recipe for the coming week-end)!
It was fantastic! We had a really great time and it was incredibly beautiful. ☺️
The frosting reminds me of a square (bar for my American friends) that my mum made many years ago. They were called “fudge-topped” squares.
The meeting was cancelled so I sliced up the cake and froze the slices individually. Dessert for hubby and I for the week!! Thank you for this cake! I have my eye on what I want to try next! Blessings! ❤️
Loved your recipe
Yay! ❤
