To clarify a couple things, I'm running macOS under a hypervisor using emulation. I lose maybe a percent of speed compared to natively installing it which is completely negligible. I do however get a completely stable system in my testing and I would compare this setup to an off the shelf mac. It takes a bit of work to get going but if you have understanding of how Linux, virtualization and having a bit of patience works this can be an incredibly fun project.

Especially with teachers that sneered at you for saying that you preferred Windows, or laughed when you asked things like "where the hell is the right mouse button??? how can I open a word document on this thing???" and got all passive aggressive defensive when the mac was slow af or just crashed.

One symptom of such is an increased predatory inclination to single out individuals deemed inferior for even the most superficial of reasons as - by extension - such implies one's own superiority. In a truly healthy society, behavioral lapses such as poor shaming at school for even one's clothing would be socially corrected - not only through formal education but also through the family unit and other anchors of society. @@Souls_p_ Every gaming computer that's actually worth getting are well over 1000 dollars, plus if I'm gaming, I don't want a multitool (but that's just my preference) The only thing that makes PC truly better is modding, everything else is either preference or some custom made "attachment" which isn't part of the standard PC. When I compare PC to console, I don't take into account the even more expensive upgrades since not everyone gets those. When it comes to price, practicality, and user friendliness, console wins hands down.

@Crusader M8, go to like a pc part picker or something and build the most expensive high class machine you can and show it to your parents. 4D brain play for you. Or even better, go to the pcmasterrace subreddit and ask them to build one for you on pc part picker. Also don't forget to show them VR rigs since they cost a hand and a leg. As a sidenote may be worth to check out if it's any good to just install windows on that machine of yours. Mac and gaming don't really go together... like at all.

I was just thinking about that. I bought a nice MSI recently (mainly for heavy gaming, and just general usage) and when i got it in the mail my roommate just stood around while i was unboxing it just riding about how i should have gone for a MacBook instead. I had to just start grilling her ab3kut how she doesnt really know much of shit about software or hardware or really anything about tech' at all. (She works from home and somehow got a job for a phone company as "over-the-phone tech help". And she will literally have to put people on hold and ask me how to do something because she doesnt know how to do them, like sure she can explain how to change a SIM card out, and do a remote activation from the program the company provides, but one she had to stop a call and ask me how to do a hard reset/wipe on an android phone, like instead of just googling it either, decided to put this person on hold and come ask me to explain it)

@iAries I remember finding a gaming laptop with better specs than a macbook costing 10x its price (like a 1050 3GB for its GPU) and it was on sale for like $500. don't even get me started on PC building territory. my build probably costs about $750 or less to build in total with new components and it has a 500GB sata SSD, 16GB DDR4 3200MHZ dual channel, ryzen 5 3600, and GTX 1660 super. it also has great GPU overclocking ability (not able to overclock my CPU due to motherboard limitations) and I threw my cheap 2TB external HDD onto one of the USB 3.0 ports and cached it with an SSD partition using primocache and I am over here enjoying all my stuff with SSD speeds. I plan to upgrade my RAM to 64GB for about 200 bucks and I will cache my HDD using RAM.

There is no way in existence that this stand with standard features could make up for the price tag if not it was made of expensive materials or had expensive mechanisms which it doesn't have. As a frugal person, the biggest expenditure I had in the last 4 years was buying a Dell Inspiron laptop and a new android phone (not Samsung). I had used my dad's 9 year old laptop with 4GB RAM that hardly could run some of the softwares I needed for college and a battery that doesn't last 30 minutes after full charging. Still I used it up to my second year in university until online classes were too much for the old fella and had to buy a new laptop and phone cause my old phone also betrayed me during the pandemic. Even that seemed too expensive to me, I felt freaking poor after spending $1000 in total for both purchases. Unless I get a job that pays me 100k a year, I can never afford anything more expensive.

I'm not sure which was the actual lawsuit but they were either forcing internet explorer or making it difficult/impossible to uninstall, and another incident they made it revert the default program for internet and pdf to microsoft edge no matter what you did. The all in one type deals they sell are always a no no. So that encompasses...any Apple mobile device, any MacBook, any all in one desktop, and potentially more. I might be interested in older MacBooks that have the removable battery, and some used Mac desktop tower.

Mac Pro is for designing, programming, making animations... but i think its overpriced and they need to put some gaming characteristics (nobody plays in mac os) Also 78000 nacbook has 1.5 tb of ram so you could open a lot of tabs whithout lagging

I'm 12months too late but as someone who works as a computer technician for many years, we really need videos like this to let people see both sides of the Apple/PC story. Unfortunately you'll always get people that won't use anything else than Apple and are a bit deluded that it's better than everything else. There is always positives and negatives to everything in the technology world but being shamed for not using a Apple is ridiculous. I'm a big believer in using what you feel is best for YOU and for YOUR job. I have had to pick up the pieces for countless people that have been talked into going Apple and then needing to escape because you can get locked in to working their way or no way. That's fair enough if you know what you're expecting and don't mind being controlled, but some people don't want that. I'm not saying Windows or Linux is any better, but I am saying that people may have a different opinion if they get well informed and open their minds. You've done the right thing. You've got a better setup for less money that does the same or better job, and you can spend the rest on something else. In my opinion that's called using your head.
So I am an online student for a university and they give their students tech packages. Part of the tech packages for the student is a Mac Book Pro. I have always used PC and only dabbled with an iOS briefly. I figured "hey, I am doing Computer Animation and my industry uses Mac often, I should look at getting used to this". I agree with Muta. I want to smash my head against the wall because of the damned machine. Using Maya (anyone that doesn't know, this is software for 3d modeling) is a bitch. Found out that if I wanted to render anything, I needed to manually go into my Mac setting and do the "17 step process". That is only one of my many "fuck this bullshit" moments with iOS. A funny one is that it has been over three months and my University still has the warning to not update to the newest iOS because of the issues that it can have with any of the programs that we are supposed to use for school. Bottom line from this, I agree with Muta on the outlook of Mac products. They are shit.
I am convinced a majority of Mac users settle on Mac before understanding what to look for, and then lean into it just because it hasn't immediately blown up in their face.

When I compare PC to console, I don't take into account the even more expensive upgrades since not everyone gets those. When it comes to price, practicality, and user friendliness, console wins hands down.

@Alex I recall being "rich-shamed" as a kid for merely having a PC at home. This was in the '90s before PCs became a common (and affordable) household item here in the PH. And it was an old secondhand IBM DOS PC, in a time when Windows 95 was already a thing.
That's because "rich-shaming" usually boils down to making fun of bad spending habits or self-deprecation from the person who's doing the rich shaming. Poor shaming on the other hand is obnoxious and some deep part of me finds it extremely unlikable to it's core. I wouldn't consider myself some based woke political economical guy but I think I might just hate filthy rich rich people.

@Crusader M8, go to like a pc part picker or something and build the most expensive high class machine you can and show it to your parents. 4D brain play for you. Or even better, go to the pcmasterrace subreddit and ask them to build one for you on pc part picker. Also don't forget to show them VR rigs since they cost a hand and a leg.
As a sidenote may be worth to check out if it's any good to just install windows on that machine of yours. Mac and gaming don't really go together... like at all.

I was just thinking about that. I bought a nice MSI recently (mainly for heavy gaming, and just general usage) and when i got it in the mail my roommate just stood around while i was unboxing it just riding about how i should have gone for a MacBook instead. I had to just start grilling her ab3kut how she doesnt really know much of shit about software or hardware or really anything about tech' at all. (She works from home and somehow got a job for a phone company as "over-the-phone tech help". And she will literally have to put people on hold and ask me how to do something because she doesnt know how to do them, like sure she can explain how to change a SIM card out, and do a remote activation from the program the company provides, but one she had to stop a call and ask me how to do a hard reset/wipe on an android phone, like instead of just googling it either, decided to put this person on hold and come ask me to explain it)

@iAries I remember finding a gaming laptop with better specs than a macbook costing 10x its price (like a 1050 3GB for its GPU) and it was on sale for like $500. don't even get me started on PC building territory. my build probably costs about $750 or less to build in total with new components and it has a 500GB sata SSD, 16GB DDR4 3200MHZ dual channel, ryzen 5 3600, and GTX 1660 super. it also has great GPU overclocking ability (not able to overclock my CPU due to motherboard limitations) and I threw my cheap 2TB external HDD onto one of the USB 3.0 ports and cached it with an SSD partition using primocache and I am over here enjoying all my stuff with SSD speeds. I plan to upgrade my RAM to 64GB for about 200 bucks and I will cache my HDD using RAM.

In addition, the basic Ideapad 3 has 8GB Ram, equal to your precious Mac, while the 5s possess DOUBLE the Ram, flat out superior, at a minor increase in price. And these are basic laptops here. We're not even talking about the astronomical superiority of custom PCs. You're buying inferior product for a higher cost because you're fawning over baubles.

There is no way in existence that this stand with standard features could make up for the price tag if not it was made of expensive materials or had expensive mechanisms which it doesn't have. They could atleast added robotics to make it easier to align the monitor.

As a frugal person, the biggest expenditure I had in the last 4 years was buying a Dell Inspiron laptop and a new android phone (not Samsung). I had used my dad's 9 year old laptop with 4GB RAM that hardly could run some of the softwares I needed for college and a battery that doesn't last 30 minutes after full charging. Still I used it up to my second year in university until online classes were too much for the old fella and had to buy a new laptop and phone cause my old phone also betrayed me during the pandemic. Even that seemed too expensive to me, I felt freaking poor after spending $1000 in total for both purchases. Unless I get a job that pays me 100k a year, I can never afford anything more expensive.

Me and my friends have had encounters like this and they're more enthusiastic and trusting than other people because they don't really care about the material aspect, as they have many more of those cars at home. I'm not sure which was the actual lawsuit but they were either forcing internet explorer or making it difficult/impossible to uninstall, and another incident they made it revert the default program for internet and pdf to microsoft edge no matter what you did. Idr which one was which but the root of the issue is forcing their own product on people.

The all in one type deals they sell are always a no no. So that encompasses...any Apple mobile device, any MacBook, any all in one desktop, and potentially more. I might be interested in older MacBooks that have the removable battery, and some used Mac desktop tower.

I'm 12months too late but as someone who works as a computer technician for many years, we really need videos like this to let people see both sides of the Apple/PC story. Unfortunately you'll always get people that won't use anything else than Apple and are a bit deluded that it's better than everything else. There is always positives and negatives to everything in the technology world but being shamed for not using a Apple is ridiculous. I'm a big believer in using what you feel is best for YOU and for YOUR job. I have had to pick up the pieces for countless people that have been talked into going Apple and then needing to escape because you can get locked in to working their way or no way. That's fair enough if you know what you're expecting and don't mind being controlled, but some people don't want that. I'm not saying Windows or Linux is any better, but I am saying that people may have a different opinion if they get well informed and open their minds. You've done the right thing. You've got a better setup for less money that does the same or better job, and you can spend the rest on something else. In my opinion that's called using your head.

So I am an online student for a university and they give their students tech packages. Part of the tech packages for the student is a Mac Book Pro. I have always used PC and only dabbled with an iOS briefly. I figured "hey, I am doing Computer Animation and my industry uses Mac often, I should look at getting used to this". I agree with Muta. I want to smash my head against the wall because of the damned machine. Using Maya (anyone that doesn't know, this is software for 3d modeling) is a bitch. Found out that if I wanted to render anything, I needed to manually go into my Mac setting and do the "17 step process". That is only one of my many "fuck this bullshit" moments with iOS. A funny one is that it has been over three months and my University still has the warning to not update to the newest iOS because of the issues that it can have with any of the programs that we are supposed to use for school. Bottom line from this, I agree with Muta on the outlook of Mac products. They are shit.
I am convinced a majority of Mac users settle on Mac before understanding what to look for, and then lean into it just because it hasn't immediately blown up in their face.
