Listen. I normally refuse to accept anyone better than Bartoli for baroque and Sutherland for bel canto but I was quite astoundingly blown out of the water by this person who is barely older than myself she WILL have a great carreer she is simply parfait.
It is interesting to compare this recording to the one that Lezhneva made few years ago and that launched her on the international stage. Her voice has matured and gained expressiveness without losing agility (she's still very young though, so that's not so surprising). She manages to improve her already stellar performance. Part of the merit is the work of the orchestra (Fabio Biondi's Europa Galante, I think), really excellent here.

Lezhneva seems to sing this piece with more ease than Bartoli, particularly the runs. It will be interesting following the career of Lezhneva just as it was following Bartoli's from the early 90's.
