- A folk song based on Stepan Razin's revolt:
"It was not difficult to stir the oppressed population to revolt by promising deliverance from their yoke. Razin proclaimed that his object was to root out the boyars and all officials, to level all ranks and dignities, and establish Cossackdom, with its corollary of absolute equality, throughout Muscovy.
In 1671 Stepan and his brother Frol Razin were captured at Kagalnik fortress (Кагальницкий городок) by a Cossack starshina. They were given over to Tsarist officials in Moscow, and on 6 June 1671, following the announcement of the verdict against him, Stepan Razin was quartered on the scaffold on Bolotnaya Square. A sentence of death was read aloud: Razin listened to this calmly, then turned to the church, bowed in three directions, passing the Kremlin and the tsar and said: "Forgive me". The executioner then proceeded to first cut off his right hand to his elbow, then his left foot to the knee. His brother Frol, witnessing Stepan's torment, shouted out: "I know the word and the matter of the sovereign!" (that is, "I am willing to inform upon those disloyal to the tsar"). Stepan shouted back, "Shut up, dog!" These were his last words; after them the executioner hurriedly cut off his head."
Translation is partially mine; I'm early in learning Russian so apologies if it's lacking. - Видеоклипы
One of the best songs in the world .
I can agree
@@peepee2476 I recommend this piece as performed by 18 year old Diana Ankudinova very recently. ruclips.net/video/cfTiQkJrLi0/видео.html. On Diana's face you see sadness, anxiety and pain of the soul of the Cossack warrior. One would swear she borrowed that soul to perform the song.
Tbm amo essa música 😍
Послушайте эту песню в исполнении Ивана Лубягина. Очень понравилось мне....
I am going through a rough time of my life and this music is like a great miracle! Thank you.
вороной конь - doesn't translates like "horse turned black as raven". Just black horse, no magic transformations.
Ой то не вечер - doesn't translates like night had pass. It is a phraseological unit, that means "it's not over yet". Like "Stop it, you'l lose, there's no chance. No, we must try, it's not over yet".
So the song is basically about the hope. When every sign tells you, that you should give up, when you understand how small are your chances to get what you want, but you're not giving up and you go along with your principles in the hope of changing your fate.
Lovely song, I very much like Russian folk music. UK
In the end, we all will have to ride that dark horse..
nice song, I learn cyrillic alphabet so I can read the lyrics and many things can be understood without much knowledge. greetings from Czechia
Como me encanta el arte musical tradicional ruso, te transmite emociones tan poderosas
Right into the melancholic russian soul.
I love this song so much. I love it so much.
Istg, this song is unlocking some sort of deeply buried genetic memory. And I'm not even Russian nor do I support Putin. But the world needs to realize, that the common Russians often didn't and do not support their czars and know when they're being ruled by tyrants. There were many such uprisings. It breaks my heart that two close nations are at war.
Вы, европейцы, очень плохо знаете "простых россиян"... И Слава Богу, что пока плохо знаете. Поблагодарите героический народ Украины, что они защищают вас от простых россиян.
I especially like Kristina Vikhrova's performance of this.
Wonderful !
Thank you
