The part where you were commenting on the camera pan up & down, with no switch of members was actually to pull your attention to the words on the screen behind. It was saying Evil, but switched to Live & that's when the members fully broke out of the puppet mode. (I think it's at 13:23 )

@@jess_holyfield The difference between the two sides is kinda tied to the puppet/free thing as well. When they were controlled, it was narrow & confined. A maze of paths full of grabbing hands. After they broke out, it was open with space to move.

It's interesting that you noticed the disconnect between all of the props. This was actually the only round after which each group received written feedback from the judges. In Skz's case, the judges actually noticed the lack of connection and said the performance had no clear theme, it was just too busy with so many tricks and props that it ended up being distracting and failed to show any specific concept or their identity properly.
That feedback wasn't well received by fans because for other groups the judges criticized the stage being too simple (despite the budget limit controversy).
Fun fact - Ateez were the only ones to receive no advice or critical comments from the judges, they just told them "great job" lol

Interesting! I have some mixed thoughts with how this whole competition was scored TBH... There were times it felt like regardless of how the stage looks or is executed, some group is going to get put through the fire to show that Mnet has some form of control..... Lowkey I just wanted this to be a celebration of performances.... I really enjoyed Ateez's stage for this challenge, but I felt that I really enjoyed Stray Kids Challenge 2 stage the best for them, but they were not received with that by the system..... This show was a hot mess express haha.. BLESS IT

@@jess_holyfield yeah, the scoring system was a bit of a mess... The judges scores for the most part seemed fair since there were a lot of professionals from different fields whose identities were hidden for the first few rounds to prevent tampering but when we found out how it was carried out (watching the stage once through a low quality lagging live stream and with no additional info about the vocals/AR) it did make a lot of people question the scores.
The group scores were fine too, but I imagine it had to be hard to be impartial, especially in round 2 with covering each others songs.
The biggest issue most fandoms had was actually how voting heavy the final scores were and the three groups voting system which gave a big advantage to bigger fandoms, who could vote for their group and the two lowest placing groups (because the judges scored were revealed before the voting which in my opinion was a bad decision that made fans create those voting "strategies") to create a big gap between them and any groups liked by the judges.
That, and the whole YT views category that started to fall apart after some groups/fans(?) bought adds to increase their group's views.
All in all, creating a scoring system for shows like this is difficult but usually it will always either make fans mad and lower engagement if the fan vote isn't significant or put everything on a fan vote and heavily favour the biggest fandom over the artistic quality. I wonder how will rtk2 look like in this aspect.
