ROBBIE KRIEGER -- "L.A. WOMAN"

- I filmed this at the NYC City Winery on April 5 2015. This is an UnsteadyCam Production. Robbie of course was the guitarist for The Doors. The evening was billed as "An Evening of The Doors' Greatest Hits". It was alternatively billed as "Robby Krieger of The Doors Playing 50 Years of Hits" (a misnomer because they only had a few years of hits!) Of course this is a cover of a tune recorded by THE DOORS, and written by Jim Morrison of The Doors I apologize for the last couple of minutes where the picture on my Magic Camera was clearly being disrupted. It was a combination of an unnecessary extra energy being exerted by our waiter, blocking the view, or knocking into me because the space between the tables is a squeeze. The gentleman in front of me was also moving around, as he was trying o get a good view. We both had the same issues. So I'm sorry for that but at least the audio of that of that portion is intact.
Imagine being ANY ROCK STAR right now sitting in that front row, every damn one of them would have their jaw drop watching him, he's one of the ones who made it possible for them all to have careers. Robbie is respected in rock lore.
Robbie Krieger is so quiet and introverted but he actually wrote a lot of the Doors biggest hits!
Ray said he was the Doors secret weapon!
He wrote Light my Fire 🔥, Love Me Two Times, Don’t You Love Her Madly and many others! He was a big part of their success! And those songs are still great! 🔥👏🏻🎸🙏🏻😎
Don't forget "tell all the people"
Also you are lost little girl
People will still be rocking to LA Woman even if there’s a time when there is no LA
I love that pregnant pause when the tempo slows down just before the Mr. Mojo Rising refrain! OMG! 😲
That is a great moment and then it goes faster and faster until Jim screams out Ridin Ridin!
Whoo! Yay Uh!
He just lets out that primal Rebel Yell!
That is Rock n Roll at its best!
The Doors are the greatest American band!
👏🏻🎸😎
All these weirdos on here critiquing what they didn’t like. They’re just jamming. Krieger sounds great. Got his own style, can’t get that anywhere else. So beautiful. Love u Robby!
learning geetar in the 70s & 80s was caveman level... you needed to want it pre yt
I met Robbie back stage at the Cotati Caberet.....he signed a Doors photo for me .....he was so mellow cool...
I love the Cotati Cabaret! I saw Devo and The Cramps there when I was a teen and lived in Sonoma!
I to meet him in a similar situation.
Robbie was/is fantastic at what he does, never tried to dominate the sound. Play forever Robbie!
I had the privilege of working in Robbie's studio in Burbank . I will never forget it
Sweeping floors...cool
Thanks for posting a glimpse of Robbie the legend!
Robbie Krieger you are the Man!!!!
Johnny Traviezo dam right he is
Used to hear this song so much on the juke box at the pizza place I worked at in Huntington Beach CA. Used to (accidentally) pour the wrong drinks to customers, and up setting them aside and pour them the right drinks. Then the pizza makers, the pizza cutter, and myself would drink up the (accidentally) poured drinks. By the end of the night we'd all be half faced! The Doors and The Who will always remind me of that...great times!!
The Great Gazoo I’m originally from Huntington what pizza place did you use to work at? Hah
A gifted classicly trained musician
He’s using a pick in this if you haven’t noticed
It's so good to hear LA Woman! Thanks Robby for your perform even if the voice of Jim is always in my mind
great Robbie!!!
Thanks to share with us! Robbie is like an old wine better when old
My idol
I like this video, shows how talented Robbie still is. It was done not with the best recording equipment so I think you should give all the guys a little bit of a break. They're just rocking that's all. Think it's damn good. And I think it's damn cool that they're still rocking.
just fucken awesome..giver Robbie!!
Are you kidding me?? The camera breaks away from Krieger's great lead guitar just as the solo heats up following the slowed tempo at "Mr. Mojo rising" to film the singer from the neck down and then points at a ceiling light at the back of the stage. Holy Moly! What a let-down after the fascinating focus on Robbie's guitar work leading up to the best part of the song! Makes no sense. (Just saw the explanation in the description. Unfortunate, but understandable under the circumstances.)
Omg Robbie i love u
He plays exactly like he did in 1971 or whenever it was recorded, it's remarkable. This could be an alternate guitar take from the record; it's loose, improvisational and still right in the pocket. I love his style. I guess it's no coincidence he played in the greatest American R'n'R group .
Not really. Dude forgot how to play it.
@@MrStrongbox they improvised it in the studio, there’s nothing to remember. He’s recreating the part live on stage, and it sounds fresh.
Robbie best💯
Wonderful!
Eres un ídolo, Robbie!
Robbie I Love You
Real rock and roll rip Mr Mojo
I was happy until the camera started moving 3/4 of the way thru the song, right at the solo.
the singer is great does a good job.... have you ever heard MORRISON LIVE !! he was not always on key
i got to see them (waylon, robbie, john, and keyboard player dude (??)/at the time) two years in a row at the pig pen (now closed) in Clinton iowa.. bout 2003/2004. small club about 500 capacity/ish. tried to find their room across the street all night. nobody knew which one it was. we came out early the next morning to see robbie and others loading up the astro van. we wished them well. the next year after the show waylon (robbies son/singer) invited everyone next door to his room at the super 8 motel. it was great. the manager came up and bitched about the door slamming over and over (people going in and out). soon after.. someone did it again. waylon got out of his recliner and wanted to chase the guy down the hall to give him a piece of his mind. haa.. we got him settled back down . we (me and my gf) sat on his hardshell luggage all night and were the last two ppl to leave that night. i have a couple other stories to tell of that night as well.. but we will keep it at that for now.. great times.... luv you guys..
Why people were going in and out. Were they having a party or something?
@@lephilosopheinconnu3952 ..it was def....a party.
Robbie, I want to know you!
Please come to Mexico :(
Don’t thinks he’s gay
Jim had a clear baritone voice. That`s salad.
It's not karaoke, or a tribute act, pal
Why would you take the camera off Robby right at the solo?
I love the Doors, they will live forever in music history, but Robbie is getting on in years and isn't completely with it anymore, he should rest on his laurels.
Why? You don’t like, don’t watch
I was wondering if that was robbie’s kid singing? What else could explain this ‘performance’ ?
It is Waylon Kreiger
Класс
Why change the camera view at the end of the video, disappointing
I'm always amazed how he's able to make a in tune guitar sound so out of tune. I love The Doors and it's a good thing the Organ take the lead role over all. I don't say he is a bad guitarist, just maybe he's a bit to stubborn of what and how he wants to play stuff.
7:29 he tries to copy moves he is just trolling why he wears sunglasses?
Robbie .call me.my teen age alter ego. Let me emulate Jim .
Colocooooooon!!!
Anda con el robin😂
Somebody should slap that singer. It's so woeful a legend like Robbie Krieger should have to share stage with a such a talent free nobody.
Who was that lead singer? Totally off....Horrible. No Jim Morrison , by even any stretch of the imagination.Stephen Connors is spot on.
It's his son guys, give the guy a break. They are not trying to replicate Jim's performance. It's a dad playing music he helped create with his son.
of course is true what you write! ...but i am sure that the singer himself also know this! ...is not easy to find good jimmes for stage :-) ...we should be happy that still some doors sound and jim are alive!
The comment is still relevant.
Just be thankful some people are still covering the doors..this is real and raw and great!
bad singer, robbie deserve more doors!
Jack Daniels bottles ciggs beer's LA ocean the doors
That was painful to listen to
But it’s giving him back his memories from when he played for The Doors and enjoying himself that is the main thing as lots of people his age would be in nursing homes
I can sing better
Not at his best in this video.
He’s what...in his mid 70’s here, what do you expect
@@Oh_I_Will I have seen Robbie a number of times.. at this age. I saw him play late summer 2019 and he was amazing. Just not so good here. And maybe it was just the song.
That's the lamest excuse for a lead singer I've ever heard.
f*ucking drummer, keep the f*ucking time!!!
Singer is not singer. He should quit
Robbie needs to break that to his Son, then
Love Robbie, but I maintain that he played better during the heyday of the Doors. Some things just are . PS- this “singer” is as bad as it gets .
I hate to say this...but Robbie sounded like he hadn't ever heard the song before....The Doors were "MY" band when I was in high school/college back in the 80's.....and I absolutely idolized all four of those guys....but listening to this, it makes me sad to admit that Robbie really isn't that great a guitarist....this whole thing sounds like a complete mess. (And I'm sure his son is a great guy....but he's not a singer.....if you're going to play this stuff....at least get a band together that sounds halfway decent.)
He's doing pretty good here
I mean, Robbie is a great guitarist and there’s no changing that but you try being the same as you were in your prime this late in your life man, he’s playing really well and it’s a live version which is never the same as the record version. He did some sweet improv and I’d say the biggest loss he took was in audio quality and yeah, the singer isn’t great.
We can all agree that krieger isn't the best guitar player. He has his own style which he is proficient in and it sounds original, but it's not technically challenging.
I agree. This is crappy as hell
Non sa suonare
Robbie sounds out of tune.
