I just started medicine and I had my first CVS anatomy lecture. I was really struggling to the point of having a mental breakdown. Your videos are honestly so well made and are so enjoyable and easy to understand to the point that anatomy for me is now not studying its fun.

What's in between the fibrous pericardium and the mediastinal pleura? Does the mediastinal pleura line the fibrous pericardium externally? Great video by the way!

This does help a lot! Thanks.
But I was studying muscles too and that still adds to the confusion about the naming of the connective tissue layers.
For muscles (outward -> inward): epimysium, perimysium, endomysium.
While for the heart (outward -> inward): pericardium, epicardium, endocardium.
Could you shed some light on why the "epi" (upon) and "peri" (around) prefixes seem switched?

Have you ever thought about using an analogous graph of the nuclear envelope to describe the anatomy of the serous pericardium..?
Think about it, the nuclear envelope is a double membrane structure that has nuclear pores (same as the openings for the major blood vessels), and the two membranes are continuous with each other around the pores..

If the visceral layer is connected to the epicardium, the parietal layer is connected to the fibrous pericardium, and the serous pericardium loops back on itself essentially making "one layer" how would one remove the heart from the fibrous pericardium without also removing both visceral and parietal layers?
