1:23 tuning 3:27 intro 3:43 picking pattern 5:02 actual intro 7:15 transition 11:44 chorus 14:16 verse 15:18 different chorus ending 16:27 bridge (I guess so, Carl said really heavy power chord riff hahah) 18:44 ending 19:15 The End It has been a while since last SOAD lesson! The tuning is scary but I always liked the song, so I'm up for this. Thanks!
We’ve been waiting a little too long for this one Carl, but it’s all good. Appreciate the greatest teacher of all time going over this master piece for the next gen of players
Now that you are in drop C tuning, could we get a Killswitch Engage lesson please, give us an occasional modern metal lesson, perhaps some Trivium, or All That Remains, there is a lot of great modern metal with some really interesting guitar work.
Got my electric guitar 2 days ago! This is the first song I’m learning and it’s already going so well due to this tutorial. I’ll come back to this comment in a year and hopefully I can play it flawlessly! Haha.
Yep play it really well now! I’m now getting free guitar lessons with a member in a band and I’m learning all different things now, getting a little band together and I’m currently learning the solo to Sweet child o mine which obviously is a lot harder but I’m getting there along with all the other members. Hopefully play it with ease by the end of the year! Thanks for checking in.
I can't get those damn arpeggios down, pretty tough intro to learn. the power chords are pretty easy. Like I know the patterns it's just a tough intro@@suescabin
Hey Carl, I had an absolute blast doing your Anthrax "Madhouse" lesson. I'd love more Anthrax! Could you please consider doing "Antisocial"? BTW I'm getting some serious chop development thanks to your Academy. It's amazing to be able to play songs that were previously well outside my ablities.
GUY'S, GO SEE THIS ACADEMY THAT'S THE PLACE TO LEARN THE THE RIGHT WAY, WITH THE BETTER SUPPORT YOU CAN HAVE ON THE NET, AT LESS GO SEE ALL THE STUFF YOU CAN GET THERE,!!!!!!!!
Been playing for a year and straight Metallica/Nirvana/ and a ton of other bands, I learned a tiny riff from toxicity but now it's time.... time for me to learn one of my favorite bands songs.. I love every song by SOAD, Mad respect to chavo, daren, serj, and CGI man himself...
Carl has cranked out another one! I haven't seen any Death on your channel, so how about "Flesh and The Power it Holds" So much to dig into with that song!
Great lesson! Only thing i've noticed from listening to the studio version is that on the switcheroo (after the walk up to the 8th fret) he accually plays 7 - A, 5 - D. You teach the A and D string played the other way around. But nonetheless helped me big time with learning the riff❤
Thanks a lot,, this video is so clear and you explained it so well, I'm now practicing this tutorial and I been able to see some progress,,, greetings from mtl Canada 🍁
Thank you for this most excellent tutorial! I’m a beginner guitarist trying to learn this song and this tutorial is extremely helpful! For the chorus, at the 11:44 mark, what is the strum pattern you are using? Thanks in advance!
Hello, I’m an adult beginner and here’s my dumb Ques of the day, how do u go from clean part to power chords? Is Carl using a peddle? I don’t see him changing any settings to get that sound. Thanks
Yeah you usually use some sort of pedal to either change the channel of the amp to a distortion channel, or turn on a distortion pedal of some sort that you place before your amp… I am using a Line 6 Helix that has many sounds already programmed into it and I just click a button with my foot to change the sound… 👍
Carl would you please do where have all the good times gone vh version? There are others on yt but Ill wait until you teach it the proper way. Thanks man you rock.
There’s an 80s band called danger danger that I can’t find lessons for anywhere and I’d like to learn either turn it on or bang bang. The guitarists is Andy Timmons and I really want to learn more of his stuff
So curious my friend who has been playing for a long time say plus 20 years says it's in Drop C but I tune the lower string to B since you said drop I just want to make sure that's what he means? Other the that your video is great the slowing down to show frets is really helpful. New at the guitar heh.

It has been a while since last SOAD lesson! The tuning is scary but I always liked the song, so I'm up for this. Thanks!

The guitar sounds so cool in this song, especially the clean riff 18:46. That's why I like the song.
Now that you are in drop C tuning, could we get a Killswitch Engage lesson please, give us an occasional modern metal lesson, perhaps some Trivium, or All That Remains, there is a lot of great modern metal with some really interesting guitar work.
Prayer of the refugee is fun to play.

hey carl, you haven’t done some megadeth in a while so i think, you should do Trust or Lucretia
Saw SOAD back in 2012 or 13.....they were incredible. they not only played all the tuff timing / technique stuff but they both sang all the songs.
