The biggest scam is the radianite points to upgrade your guns. Those points are usually the only reason people buy the battlepass.

I've spent around $600 on Val skins, the one thing that made me stop purchasing was when my Val points happened to hit precisely 0. I haven't liked a skin enough to ruin the satisfaction of 0 points and I already have enough skins anyway
You didn't mention two important things:
1. The default skins in Val are the most basic ass matte black skins known to mankind, fucking csgo defaults are more interesting. But, unlike csgo, they look out of place in an otherwise colouful world and characters. This compels people into "needing" to buy skins. And if you are gonna buy skins anyway why not buy that really cool flashy skin that your fav pro uses. This is the only time you'll spend money, (...right?)
2. Because the Val skins are soo overpriced and never on discount, they also become a sort of status symbol ingame. (Closest analogy would be people buying Apple products for the "brand") and when people ask for those skins in game, it gives them validation.
I disagree , the base skins models are more unique and interesting than csgo. I think most people buy skins because they get bored of default. That also applies in csgo, also because people think they give aimbot. I buy skins because i enjoy the game more with skins and also because i want a certain color theme, i do the same in csgo. I find it annoying when people beg me to drop my skins. Skins are expensive but its a free 2 play and no one is forced to buy skins, you can also get bp with many skins for barely anything.
I completely agree that valorant skins are overpriced. however, will that stop the majority of people from buying more skins? .. probably not.

Exactly. Something that helps is being self-conscious of your spendings.
Being patient and have a discreet list of which skins you want the most, helps you in the long run. It will save both your sanity and wallet..
When you see someone in cs with knife or red skin especially in a lower ranks you think "oh he is rich" but in valo even in low elo when you see someone with premium skin you think "average"
i have 3 skins one from agent contract 2 from pevious battlepasses
Back in the day you could simply download any Counter Strike skin or bundle you wanted. You could swap out the player models too. Sprays could be custom as well, people would spray hardcore p 0r n, it was the Wild West early 2000s.
I think part of the problem is that a lot of Valorant's player base come from CS. And with CS being it's direct competitor, and how their skins are priced, it helps with the mindset of thinking "Oh, this Valorant bundle isn't that much, i mean have you seen that one CS knife?".
That makes it SEEM like Valorant skins doesn't cost that much, but people often forget to realize that:
1. CS skins are tradable/sellable
2. Most games do not sell skins for that much lol.
But you are burning 20 Dollars! You cant sell them like in cs
If people are willing to pay it, its not too expensive. Riot isnt forcing you to pull out the credit card and buy a skin every time you queue up

The only skins im getting are the ones from recruiting agents, and honestlyy they are not that bad but its all secondaries tho.
I spent like 1k euro but obviously not in one setting so its not that much money for me. but i spent way more on leaugue of Legends and other free 2 plays like 2 example combat arms and wolfteam, honestly i hate pay 2 win but always been a fan of cosmetics.
A shame eu wolfteam died. Now the only option is to play the turkish or latino version. For that reason I play only cs and valo, which feels like an insane downgrade cause u cant carry solo as much as in wt where u could easily make 3/4k each round, even if u would play 5v5 res mode. RIP 😞

I stopped following the skin releases after episode 5 or 6. They're pushing way too much out. My skins set it's basically gold, black gold, red, gold, white gold. Anything with gold tone or themes.

another reason why they don't put good skins in the battlepass is cuz otherwise, it's two birds with one stone. lemme explain. valorant skins are ass without radianite cuz that's what make them go blub blub or whatever the fuck the sounds effects are. that's the main reason why people grind the battlepass. often, you need to buy the battlepass in order to actually afford skins, since ur good skins will be basically regular ass skins that don't shoot lasers. that's how people are tricked into buying things since they think to themselves about how buying the battlepass is worth it since you can get the radianite you need PLUS free skins. the tradeoff is that you have to grind the game. This is also enforced cuz of how FUCKING EXPENSIVE RADIANITE IS.

after they released RES I stopped buying battlepass, it's overpriced anyway for such bad skins. and I 100% won't buy the promo arcane skins when they come out in 2025
