  • Zaria Forman documents climate change through a unique art : she creates large scale drawings of the vanishing ice. To do so, she travels to remote regions of the world - on the forefront of climate change - to collect images and inspiration for her work.
As she traveled to Patagonia, she witnessed the scale of climate change on the changing landscapes of Torres del Paine National Park.

It really is changing so quickly. I was in el calafate and el chalten in 2007. My mother went to the same places in 2019. Comparing our photos, it was astonishing how much more both locations were developed. And it was most noticeable how much ice had melted in various locations as well. It made me very sad how much had changed in such a short period of time.

Glaciers in Patagonia are retreating at an accelerating rate. You can tell the difference in just a couple of years : Grey Glacier now retreats about 80-100 meters / year, so the landscape there will be totally different for the next generation. Certaintly an important message of our planet regarding how fast the Earth is changing and how much humans are impacting that change ;)
