    Privacy hedge for me is 10-20 feet tall

    • @PlantDoHomeGarden
      @PlantDoHomeGarden  5 месяцев назад +1

      Definitely, the ideal height for a privacy hedge can be quite subjective and varies based on personal preferences and specific garden needs. While some may prefer a 10-20 feet tall hedge for more privacy and screening, others might opt for something shorter. It's all about finding what works best for your space and requirements. Thanks for sharing your perspective! 🌿🏡

    What would you recommend for zone 9 Houston, TX? I'm looking for a hardy and fast-growing shrub/hedge.

      Portuguese laurel. Faster growing than cherry laurel, but not toxic to animals. Has smaller leaves than English/cherry laurel and Stems are red not green-brown. It blossoms in spring - white almost similar to a lilac. If you don’t like the scent or look you can remove them without harming the tree. I have 10 in a hedge on the Canadian west coast in a zone 9/10. Texas may be dry for them but they are pretty tough. Water extra for first few years as with most any new plant. They are evergreen so leaves stay on through winter season and don’t turn orange or anything in fall. I haven’t had any trouble on clay soil.

    Why would you recommend a terribly invasive species like burning bush? Makes me skeptical of any other advice.

    • @PlantDoHomeGarden
      @PlantDoHomeGarden  Год назад

      Please note that the plant recommendations in the video are intended as general suggestions, and it's crucial for viewers to consult their local regulations and consider the ecology of their area when selecting plants. I apologize if the inclusion of burning bush was inappropriate for your region, and I appreciate your feedback. In the future, we'll make sure to address potential invasiveness when discussing plant options.

    Shocking quote: "a privacy hedge should not be taller than 6 feet." LOL OMG. Zone information should be included, as well as trimming and littering issues (fallen cones leaves etc). Please turn down the volume of background music by 25% (minimum) to 50% or more.

      @PlantDoHomeGarden  7 месяцев назад +1

      you're right about including zone info and considerations for trimming and maintenance. those fallen leaves and cones can be a real factor in choosing the right plants. thanks also for the feedback on the background music - we'll make sure to adjust it in our future videos to enhance your viewing experience. appreciate your thoughts and input! ❤️
