Hi, Ceci. Yes, this is AJ's arrangement, which is often commented on, but IMO overlooked for its brilliance. She begins a capella, then introduces the guitar as a complement to her perfectly-pitched vocals, centering the composition and allowing her to move away from the breathy introduction and into sustained vibrato, pushing more power and open emotion into the song as the piano joins the guitar, building to a crescendo that perfectly matches the lyrics, then finally back into a restrained coda that is almost a capella, featuring a few rich piano and guitar chords. The whole performance is just absolutely masterful. The more you understand composition, the more admiration you have for what AJ has created. And then performed live. This performance alone should have won the competition.
Hear, Hear! We, her fans, know who should have won, and so does the public. I even think she would have won if the four judges had voted. They all loved her. Voting system on this show is so Stupid!

It takes about an hour to unpack all the vocal techniques Angelina employs in 2 and a half minutes. Beyond all the tone, vibrato, melisma and dynamics, Angelina is a perfect song interpreter. By this I mean that she can take the core feeling of a composition and deliver the emotional impact intended. This is why so many people who hear her sing experience chills, goosebumps and tears. She doesn't simply sing, she involves you in the experience.
Angelina is one of the most addictive singers I have ever listened to, & one of the very few, that can pull you right into the song, making you feel, every word, every note, & every emotion. ❤️💙 I always have this feeling that Angelina is not only channeling some of these late great singers, but that they also pass through her, when she is singing their song ❤️💙 A rare beauty, in every sense of the word ❤️💙 I am on the border, believing in reincarnation, although, I do find it intriguing that Lou Rawls, the American Jazz & blues singer legend, passed away, the same day Angelina was born 😊 Loved your reaction!!!

I truly believe 2021 will be the year, Angelina Jordan takes her place in the music industry. There is only one place she belongs and that is at the very top. Her first album likely will be mostly original songs and Republic Records has promised to promote her album world wide.

What Angelina did that night was to go onto the stage of a talent show and deliver a masterpiece. I think if any well established, professional, high level singer did what she did there it would be considered one of their finest works... and she did it at 13. I like that you noticed how special that ending was. The big notes are impressive, but it's those subtle flavors she is able to add to her vocals that really set her apart. Lo que Angelina hizo esa noche fue subir al escenario de un show de talentos y entregar una obra maestra. Creo que si alguna cantante bien establecida, profesional y de alto nivel hiciera lo que ella hizo allí, sería considerado uno de sus mejores trabajos ... y lo hizo a los 13. Thank you Cece. She is an incredible talent. I don’t know anything about technicalities of voice, but it’s her phrasing and the effortless but profound emotion she conveys for one so young. I read once that she began singing as a very small child to her Grandmother’s jazz blues cd’s. Don’t know if or when she began vocal training, but I think she must because she would have possibly damaged her voice with some of her very deep ‘growls’ as in ‘I Put a Spell on You’, which she performed at around 8 years old. Listen to that one if you haven’t yet. I would love your reaction. Bless💕

Bonita reação Ceci, tenho acompanhado o trabalho desta genial garota a alguns meses. Acho que ela é muito inteligente e nada com ela é por acaso. Toda vez que ela pratica o Belting, o faz de maneira técnicamente muito controlada e sem esforço. Acredito que ela deve ter uma orientação dos vocal coachs da Noruega, de esperar sua voz e garganta amadurecerem, esperando definir seu vocal range e as possibilidades da extensão vocal. Não querem causar injúrias na garganta e perder a qualidade do seu lindo tom grave.
Ela começou a abrir toda a boca quando usa o Belting, apenas agora com quase 15 anos, cantando Million Miles ( live studio), liberando mais potência. Tudo programado para preservar a garganta.

Los arreglos, como siempre, los ha escogido ella, haciendo la versión propia, respetando siempre la esencia del tema original. En twitter, la banda Queen reaccionó a este video halagando su versión ya que como bien sabemos, es una canción difícil de interpretar y la cual se puede mutilar si no se interpreta con el debido respeto.
