Fairs are so fun for the kids! I agree with you about the rides! I loved them s a kid but now I just sit back and love watching the kiddos enjoy them!!

Yes, we chose the right day. Between it being a Monday and rainy, it wasn't too bad. We really had an amazing time and I loved watching the footage of Everett excited on the swings, Bennett did a great job of capturing it! Have a great week Melisa!

I love the fair! It was so much fun watching you guys have a blast! But no fried Oreos (no not my favorite fair food). I love where they take a potato and cut it into chips and fry it like homemade potato chips and then of course BBQ! Here instead of lumberjacks we have racing pigs. And I love seeing all the babies (calves, lambs, chicks, etc) born at the fair. And of course the crafts and home baked goods.
Hi Myra! I didn't see deep friend Oreos but I am sure they were somewhere. I love the homemade potato chips too! We were sad that they didn't have the animals out yet but this was the day we could go so we had to make a trade-off. Thanks for watching Myra!

That looked so fun!! I remember that ride Zipper from my childhood at the local fair at our high school. It didn’t go well 😵💫 now I stick to theme park rides. Getting too old for the fair rides 😂. I would love to see the lumberjacks. So fun!! Thanks for sharing

I rode my last roller coaster 4 years ago. Right after that I was in an accident and have vertigo so no more for me. I think I’m ok with that. Some rides r for the young. Glad u had a good time.

Looks like you all had a fun but tiring day. How fun you got a new roller coaster, I think I heard from another channel it was Alaska first permanent roller coaster. It's a good one to start on. So much interesting stuff to do at your fair. Our state fair was closed to the public this yr, it was only open for the 4H kids to show their animals, hopefully next yr it will be back open, 2 yrs without the fair has really hurt the local vendors.
Yes, fun and exhausting. The state fair did not happen last year so we were excited to have it re-open this year. That is really tough on vendors! Thanks for watching!

That looks fun even though it was cold and wet. I haven’t been to a fair in 20 years. I did like the go carts, riding in the pony , all the roller coasters. Favorite fair food is always funnel cake with powder sugar and strawberries. Also the heart attack fries yum yum. 🥰

at my college “Stephen F Austin State University” where i once got a forestry degree…we competed in lumberjack games (with other colleges like Clemson even)!
Do you get a Christmas fair? This one looked super fun! In the UK, the travelling fair is mainly the rides and maybe a bit of live music and fireworks - generally around 5th November for Guy Fawkes Day. Christmas fairs are really big here with craft stalls and food vendors. We get a lot of craft and themed fairs in the summer, such as plastic free, vegan, food and drink. We have local fairs usually every summer that has local groups performing karate/dance etc, carnival games and fundraising for groups and charities in the area. Some places also have agricultural fairs which are similar to state fairs that have cattle shows etc. They're really popular here and can attract some big celebrities to do book signings, cookery displays and singing.
I think freshly fried sugar doughnuts are the traditional fair food here (and at the seaside in the summer!) I've never had a funnel cake, but I imagine they're similar. It's also popular to get a takeaway burger - all fairs have these burger vans that are exactly the same no matter where somehow. Food and drink fairs have bougie options, but the Christmas markets have traditional German Christmas foods such as Muhlwein, Wursts cooked on a big fire and Currywurst. My favourite is in the autumn and winter, most fairs or outdoor markets have vendors selling freshly roasted chestnuts you eat straight out of a paper bag whilst they're hot.
Hello Rachel! Fun question. At Christmas time we have Chrstimas Bazzars where people sell their craft items, School groups often sing or perform. Not a ton of food vendors but some do have some yummy treats. Nothing as big as this state fair, but lots of fun Christmas events!
@@ThisAlaskaLife hi! That sounds really fun, similar to a lot of places in the UK. It's nice that you get community events to bring folks together as I imagine some live a fair ways out of town but the kids still attend the schools etc.
