So I danced for about 15 years of my life, am overly flexible in the hips, and recently before my symptoms began (mainly groin pain) I had increased my running load from running 5ks to training for a half marathon. I ended up having surgery to repair athletic pubalgia but the symptoms didn't go away. I was referred to a new doctor today who says the x-rays show that I have dip dysplasia. He's also sending me for an MRI with contrast and a cat scan. Hoping for the best. Thanks for the informational video!
I was diagnosed with hip dysplasia 7 years ago at age 34, both hips, but left was worse. I had a PAO in 2017 and that has worked well for me. hoping to hold off on the right side for hip replacement someday.
Hi I just got diagnosed with this in both hips as well 43 years old. Im just stunned. All these years thought I had tight hip flexors and IT band. Im in the beginning stages of figuring out what to do! Im happy t hear PAO worked for you, How was the recovery?
All those years of stretching in child's pose to loosen my tight, painful hips was actually tearing my labrums and causing me permanent pain :( Stretching can cause more harm than good if you don't know what is actually going on.
Could you share some appropriate exercises for hip dysplasia with us please. I've just obtained my medical records and scan results which identified hip dysplasia..... meanwhile steroid injections were being recommended for bursitis that wasn't seen on imaging but diagnosed because it hurt when palpated.
My hips "go out" when the muscle is tired..but today, they go out constantly. I had always be flexible. My mother was insanely flexible in the hips..perhaps inherited? I am very cautious of my movement these days. I am now 62. If anyone can steer me to treatment or things I can do to help myself...it would be greatly appreciated.
"A lot of the time these [dysplasia patients] will hold end-range positions a lot of the time. They'll often rest with their foot up on the table and lean into [the range of motion]..." *Takes foot off kitchen counter-top where it's been resting à la standing pidgeon pose for about mins as been watching the video*
@michelledelecki6224 shot didn't work. Went thru 6 drs/pa's, was sent to PT, told it was my back (nope) did PRP, finally referred myself to a highly rec ortho surgeon cuz I can't take the pain any longer abd have to move so slow. Took bilateral xrays, 5 mins later had dx bilateral sever hip dysplasia. Come to find out it's in my genetics. Doing preop testing for new hips.
no. you don't catch dysplasia. you either have it or you don't. many ortho surgeons will do keyhole surgery to fix the labrum but it's a temporary fix and generally will tear again. happened to me. I've since had PAO surgery to reshape the joint and it has worked well for me. it's a difficult surgery but was worth it to get my life back.
i don't know what i can do! i am about to quit my new job because the pain in my right hip! the very same thing happened to me last year! i got a job pain in that same hip and i quit my job i found out i had this condition in 2018 after a fall at my old job and an xray after i fell on my left and my hip didn't hurt on the fall! my leg was numb and heavy! i wasn't sure of the name tell i started to dig in and find it! i remember 30 over years ago when i was about 2 or 3 i felt a sharp pain in my groin and my parents drove me to the hospital while i was crying in pain! the doctors did nothing! gave me some pills sent me home! no x-ray or nothing! They could of fixed the problem then! now i can't work a job because of this pain i feel as an adult! honestly i have no idea what do to! should i look for a bridge to jump off? if im not productive i honestly feel useless all i want to do is work now i feel useless
Hey man, don’t hurt yourself. I got diagnosed Im 18 and it’s been a struggle to walk. The doctors lead me down the wrong path and gave me two surgeries for an unrelated issue which permanently worsened my condition. I’m in pain as I write this! We must persevere. Hopefully my hip replacement won’t be too soon, the results aren’t certain due to my prior surgeries
@@eivomtv1846 hey i got something at a health food store that helped me with pain i am currently not using it! its called OsteoMove Joint Care i discovered this only happens to me when i BMX and i try and get on my bike and try and stand one foot on the seat and the other foot on the stem, i can still ride but i am not going to try and ride my bike like a skateboard i want to be able to cruse like that but i will only stick to standing up with my knees tucked on my seat and stand up and ride with no hands heh, i have been bmxing since 2001 i am not a pro no where near i just learned good balance. i only like to ride vert on a nice half pipe. my flat feet also do not help with my hips but i have not had pain since the summer i linked what was causing the pain you should also try and figure out the way you move and what causes it!!!!
I'm so sorry you're going thru this. I went thru years of pain before finally figuring out I had hip dysplasia. I eventually had a PAO on the left hip and its given me my life back!
@@eivomtv1846same. I had a labral tear, and was told fixing that would fix my pain. it was a temporary fix and tore again within 2 months. I finally found out I had hip dysplasia and had a PAO on my left hip, the one causing more pain. That was 6 years ago and I got my life back!
new Subscriber. Great video. I have late stage Left hip dysplasia with osteoarthritis. I think my labrum is torn. My hip is very unstable now.

@@tamberlaperry3595 hi there, curious whether you ended up getting the PAO surgery yourself, hope you are better now, take care

I have hip dysplasia and have the worst range of motion and flexibility ever. Everything hurts often.

Almost sounds like a symptom of ehlers danlos syndrome or hypermobility syndrome if the flexibility extends to the whole body too
How are you doing now? I can relate to what you are going through. I have late stage left hip dysplasia that is now very unstable

What are the options for female over 45 in pain that do not include cortisone shots?
hip replacement

I developed hip dysplasia at 21. It doesn’t hurt, but it is irritating. I can’t kick the ball with my left leg anymore.
